Tom, you wore the perfect lemon yellow T-shirt to make these cookies. That's a good color for you to wear. I love lemon and will definitely try this recipe. I'm very much like you and Melissa in favoring soft cookies, so your advice of freezing them first and then baking is a good idea. Other cookie recipes I've made always called to chill first but they still baked flat. I like the big, rounded look to your cookies.
Even before you commented about your juicer being your mother's antique juicer I was eyeing it. It is a beautiful example of Vaseline glass. This glass was made as early as 1830 but was most popular between 1880 and 1920. The name obviously references the color of the salve it's named after, however, some of the earliest references to it called it Canary Glass. Much fine art glass was made during those time periods but none are quite so easily recognizable as Vaseline Glass. Not even Carnival glass with its various colors and some artificial color flashing can be identified as quickly by non glass collectors. Vaseline glass was made with a rare earth element - Uranium. That's what gives it its distinct color. During the depression glass era many colorful pieces of glass were made. Some were even similar - note similar - to Vaseline glass. To verify if glass contains uranium you must put it under a black light. The same type of light rock collectors and geologists use to detect minerals in stone. The various minerals reflect a specific color under the black light. Lead, as in lead crystal, reflects a very pretty blue. Cranberry glass that contains gold reflects kind of a dark oil slick that has colors running through like an oil slick that gets hit with light. Vaseline glass reflects back a very bright neon green. When I was in the antique business using a black light was how we verified if something was just a well colored glass or the real thing. To see a picture of true Vaseline glass inde a black light check out this link. I hope you find that as interesting as I do these lemon cookies. www.lovetoknow.com/home/antiques-collectibles/what-is-vaseline-glass-glowing-history#:~:text=Vaseline%20Glass%20History,old%20as%20from%2079%20A.D.
Love this recipe! Re: the flour, it's not the brand. Flour compacts. You need to weigh the flour for a baking recipe, always. 1 cup of flour is 120 grams, but when people "scoop" it, they often actually end up pressing like 160g into the cup. A scale is only $20 at any store. But if you don't have a scale, just whisk the flour first and fill the cup by using a spoon like a shovel, then level the cup. NEVER scoop flour with the actual cup or you'll get way too much.
Your recipe brought a few tears to my eyes because ny father was a huge lemon lover. If he was still with us I would of baked him a batch of them. For Father's Day I always baked him a lemon cake from scratch. After it cooked I sliced the layers & add lemon pudding & pie filling. For his birthday it was lemon pie. Thank you for another great recipe.
Love how you take your time for your subscribers. Most people talk 100 miles an hour and having to hit replay over and over again. I enjoy your family recipes and can’t wait to see your Thanksgiving Meals you prepared for the family. Thank you both for sharing.
You say in this video (and many others), “Alright, I know you don’t want to sit here and watch me scoop two dozen cookies…”. Actually, Tom, I’d love to park myself on one of your stools and do just that. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos. Not only for the great recipes, but you and Melissa seem to be genuinely great people. Please keep up this great effort!
Awesome looking lemon crinkle cookies, tyso and special thx to melissa for written recipe-it's so helpful as I get to watch the video instead of constantly pausing to write. Y'all are fantastic, god bless.
I think I will make three batches with lemon lime and orange. Roll them into smaller balls and put one of each of those balls into one cookie ball and have a sherbet style cookie with the varied flavors!! I can’t wait to try this ❤
Hello Tom And Melissa! Oh my these cookies look delicious. Lemon is my favorite. I like that I can freeze them and make later. You two are a joy to watch. Tom you explain things very well. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us. So until next time God Bless you both and have a Blessed evening and stay safe my dear and Special Friends.
I’ve made lemon crinkle cookies before & haven’t been pleased. Your recipe looks better so I’m going to try again. Thanks. Your videos are so pleasant and the conversations with your wife makes them even better.
I love love love your videos. You explain everything plainly in a way we can understand. You have such patience in putting together each recipe. I usually want to rush through and get it done quickly! Thank you and your lovely wife for all the hard work you do!!!
I have my husband's grandmother's lemon bread recipe and it's one of the best darned things I've ever eaten! I bake about a dozen loaves during the Christmas season to give several loaves away and keep a few on hand for company and to snack on. A cousin of mine that I hadn't seen in quite a spell was in town visiting. She came over for coffee one afternoon and I offered her some of the bread to have with her coffee. She politely declined, saying that she really didn't care for lemons, but if I wanted some, to go right ahead and she'd be fine with just the coffee. I did get it out, along with some of the chewy ginger cookies that I'd also baked for the holidays and we sat down to do some catching up. About 10 minutes into the conversation, she said "Gosh, that lemon bread sure does smell good. Maybe I'll try a little piece." Well, I cut her a modest slice and put it on her plate. Let me tell you, we sat there gabbing for about an hour and a half and don't you know it, the two of us polished off 3/4 of that loaf of bread! And she had a copy of the recipe in hand when she left that day! I'd say that was quite a compliment to my husband's grandmother! I just love this recipe for lemon cookies! The only recipe that I have or have made, is for little iced lemon cookies that are more the texture of a 'Nilla Wafer, but these look much more along the lines of my kind of cookie! I can't wait to try them! Thank you for all of your lovely recipes and the wonderfully detailed instructions! I love listening to the two of you bantering and laughing together. It reminds me of cooking with my husband! Shhh... 🤫 Don't tell him, but he's a much better baker than I am! 😆 (I'm a new subscriber!!☺️)
I loved reading your story about the lemon bread! Points for grandma! 😊 These cookies are nice and soft not crispy like a wafer. I think you're going to love them. And the fact that you can freeze a bunch and bake a few along as you need for fresh, warm cookies is an added bonus. Thanks so much for joining our channel. We really do appreciate it.
Hi Tom and Melissa you have spoke to my Tummy, I love Lemons and Lemon pie Lemon cookies, lemonade 😊 I will be making these and since my husband is not as crazy about lemons I will be freezing some! Thank You, God Bless you both🙏🇺🇸❤️
Lemon is my absolute favorite citrus taste. I love key lime and orange also but lemon is my absolute favorite. My favorite lotion is in lemon scent. Blessings from Texas.
Beautiful lemon cookies . YOUR awesome cook and a great team. LOVE that your on this video site. Have to start baking for Christmas Monday. GOD BLESS.❤️☮️☮️☮️😃😁😊🌲🌲👍🖐️👌
I appreciate your comment that you think of Lemon more in the Spring or Summer. I, however, was looking for on mor cookie to round out my list of cookies i will bake for the winter holidays. This looks perfect. A great contrast and balance to the usual. Thank you very much .
This is a great tasting cookie. I did not freeze the cookie dough prior to baking and the cookie did not flatten or become crisp. Yeah! I used an 1/8 cup cookie dough scoop and baked for 9 minutes. We also prefer our cookies on “the not too done” centers. Soft, delicious, a real keeper! Thanks for the recipe.
Love the recipes! And I also love that you scrape bowls and beaters - too many TV chefs leave half the batter in the bowls!! (Maybe because they are on TV and in a bit of a rush?) Do you have a Mississippi Mud pie recipe?
Those cookies look Fabulous !! I LOVE anything lemon. I would probably use the third tablespoon of lemon extract ..lol. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you both..🧡💛🧡
I have my mother's lemon juicer. I do remember my mother using it and I really wanted it. I looked on Amazon, and you still can purchase the clear glass ones for 19.99. I love a good lemon cookie after I eat sometimes. I am going to make these. I enjoy your recipes so much. I am going to next look at your video for Chocolate Chip Cookies. Thank you for sharing all of your recipes. I am printing them off so I will have them.
We are glad to have you watching. Thank you so much. Our juicer came from Tom's mom so we aren't sure what type of glass it is. It's an antique one, though.
I love lemon. I tried to make these cookies from the recipe of another TH-camr. They spread all over the pan regardless of all the adjustments I made to his recipe. I’m going to try your recipe and see how they turn out. It’ll go into my personal favorites if it works.
These cookies sound so good. I will definitely try them. Your mothers juicer looks to be Vaseline (uranium) glass and is valuable. It should glow under a black light. We love to watch Tom cook!
Hi, I am new to the channel and am enjoying watching you bake. I have my Mom's glass juicer but it is clear. I make a chocolate crinkle cookie but will make the lemon this Christmas too.I put a clean dish towel over my mixer so not to get a flour cloud. I have a blue KA too.
The thumbnail looks so yummy. Zest every citrus variety you have and let it air dry naturally on a saucer on the counter and store it in a reused spice jar. The oranges the kids had for after school snacks or the grapefruit you had for breakfast, whatever, zest it first. You'll never have to purchase zest.
G'day from Australia 🇦🇺 Your Mum's juicer is made from uranium glass. Its often green or yellowish. Very collectable and worth money. Sentimental value to you, I get that.
Thanks for this tasty cookie recipe… Chocolate Chip is a fav at my house but Lemon comes in second….My kiddos favor the oatmeal chocolate boiled cooki… Just a quick note, my hubby has perfected cooking popcorn !lol…
It's very unusual for us NOT to have frozen cookie dough in our freezer. Our girls like to eat them frozen. And it's great when we want to gift someone with a homemade treat.
As others have said, your juicer is most likely Vaseline (uranium) glass. Put a black light on it and it will glow beautifully. Love your videos and am slowly getting caught up with all past episodes.
I would love it if you could tell us how to store the cookies or any other dish. Also if something would be better if not stored or frozen, I love everything you make!
Maybe Kitchen aid could offer a specially 'frequency' reducer kit that puts the motor at one speed slower, soft'start'....then switch kit box 'off' and back to normal speed ranges. IF such a thing is possible---sort of like a sewing machine control.
As a transplanted Kentuckian I’m glad to have found your channel.Great videos. Please consider measuring your cookie scoop. Is it 1/4th of a cup? I like the size of your lemon cookies, but my scoop is much smaller. Not sure what size to buy.
I love, love lemon. I think anything lemon is my favorite. But wanted to tell you I have collected antique juicers. I think I have every color imangible except for that yellow that you have. It's beautiful! I even have 2 what was called tea cup juicers. It's perfect size to sit on your tea cup in case you wanted a squeeze of lemon juice in your cup of tea. Be sure to pass your yellow juicer on to one of your children. It's a true heirloom. So glad I got to see it.
You have to remember to lock your mixer. And I bought that paddle and all it does is spray the flour everywhere even with the shield on . Waste of money. But those cookies really look good, makes my mouth water.
These look absolutely luscious! I’ve made chocolate crinkles before, but I will definitely be trying these now. Thank you for the recipe. If I may offer a suggestion…the mixer will bounce a lot less if you lock the lever on the right side. It’s easy to forget, though. I know I forget all the time until it starts bouncing around! 🤪 By the way…The yellow shirt was the perfect choice for today’s recipe! 🍋 Perfect coordination… Yellow shorts, dishcloth, and plate too! Always enjoy your recipes!!
Sometimes when he forgets to lock it I try to sneak in and do it so it won’t bounce so much. Thank you for watching. We appreciate it very much and we hope you enjoy the lemon version of the recipe!
I make a lemon cookie that looks like this, but my recipe is using a lemon cake mix and cool whip along with lemon zest and the lemon juice. I have my mother's juicer but mine is clear.
I love your recipes. Last night I made your Creamy Chix Gnocchi Soup. Delicious. How long do you keep your butter on the counter? I'm nervous to do that.
Hey Tom, I never knew that about flour. You always have the best tips~and gosh, I would've never thought to freeze cookie dough. I guess I thought they wouldn't bake well or correctly. It's one reason I don't bake cookies for myself; I'd be as big as a house eating a batch of cookies b4 going bad. I'd like to make these for my brother for Christmas; I learned last Thanksgiving that he liked lemon treats. My only problem with this recipe is that I don't have a stand mixer. You had to mix these for a good while; any tips on making these with a handheld, is it doable?
Absolutely it is doable with a hand mixer. In fact, you could even do it by hand using a large spoon, but it would take a lot of "elbow grease". Thank you for watching our videos and using our recipes. We appreciate you!
@@comesitatmytable9044 That's wonderful!! Thank you for responding! You two have a great weekend, and thanks again for posting such great recipe videos.
Hi guys!! I was looking at the lemon cookies and it occurred to me that pecan pieces would be good in the lemon cookies. What do yall think? I’m going to try it. Thank you for sharing with us. I love watching all of your videos.
We love lemon anything. My husband makes lemon cookies every Christmas that only takes 3 or 4 ingredients. We found the recipe in an old church ladies cookbook. My 23 yr old granddaughter loves them so much he makes one batch just for her. Easy and delicious. It uses Cool Whip in it.
Seeds in the lemon just goes to show it is natural and not genetically modified. So don’t worry about all those seeds you have to get out of the juice. Question: is that cookie scoop a special scoop only for cookies or is it actually an ice cream scoop?
I. used. Martha. White. Flour. Too it. good. To. Find. Someone. else. That. Used. Martha. White. Flour. I. Used. Their. Corn. Meal. Too. God. Bless. You’ll. You. are. sweet. Pepole
If you are baking the cookies immediately, bake for 8 to 9 minutes. If you are baking from frozen, like we usually do, bake for 11 to 16 minutes. Watch the cookies closely so that they do not over bake and become too brown around the edges. If you bake them from a frozen state, the cookies will not spread as much and that will result in a thicker cookie for you. The oven should be at 375 degrees either way. And, just a reminder, I always include information in the description box to help you out if you miss something in the video. I hope that helps.
I love your videos. I can tell you were a great teacher, as I’m sure Melissa was also! You both found a perfect niche in your retirement.❤

I always have a tiny strainer and in one minute the pits just stay in the strainer and all the juice comes through so easy that way🍋🍋🍋
I really appreciate that you share tried a true tested recipes. Stories of how long you have been making these recipes is so helpful.

My Doctor told me that butter is healthier for you than margarine
Margarine is very close to being plastic. We agree with your doctor! Thank you for watching.
Margarine is as dangerous as cigarettes
Your body can’t digest margarine.
Your doctor is right.
I heard a rumour that margarine is an atom away from being plastic. I can't confirm that but it makes me think for sure
Lemon is one of my favorites. I will definitely make this recepie😊
I have always wanted to make crinkle cookies. I love lemon, these so beautiful and delicious. Thank you.
Thank you so much. We hope you enjoy them.
Love the recipes! And I also love that you scrape bowls and beaters - too many TV chefs leave half the batter in the bowls!! (Maybe because they are on TV and in a bit of a rush?) Do you have a Mississippi Mud pie recipe?

I agree about flour but I have to go with white Lilly. It is so soft.

I love anything lemon 🥰

Omg! These look amazing! I’m definitely making them for Christmas

Man after my own heart, clean as you go. Hate having a mess after cooking or at least minimal cleanup after.
I would love it if you could tell us how to store the cookies or any other dish. Also if something would be better if not stored or frozen, I love everything you make!
New subscriber here. My husband is from Kentucky so it caught my attention. I can’t wait to make this. 😋
❤ this is one of my favorites!!❤
As always, thank you both immensely ❤❤❤❤

I know I forget all the time until it starts bouncing around! 🤪 By the way…The yellow shirt was the perfect choice for today’s recipe! 🍋 Perfect coordination… Yellow shorts, dishcloth, and plate too! Always enjoy your recipes!!
Sometimes when he forgets to lock it I try to sneak in and do it so it won’t bounce so much.
Thank you for watching. We appreciate it very much and we hope you enjoy the lemon version of the recipe!
Your juicer is more than likely Vaseline glass which is a depression glass. Take a black light and it will glow if it is Vaseline glass.
I make a lemon cookie that looks like this, but my recipe is using a lemon cake mix and cool whip along with lemon zest and the lemon juice. I have my mother's juicer but mine is clear.
Tom'scomment about lemon Pledge brought me back to my childhood home as my Mom also dusted using it. Thanks for the smile!!
It's funny what can bring back a fun and pleasant memory.
❤❤❤❤
Add some finely chopped Rosemary to lemon cookies, lemon bars, lemon bread, or lemon whatever. Adds a wonderful, different “kick” to your recipe!
They look so good! Give me a bite!
We'd love to! Thanks for joining us at the table.
These look yum
If your juicer glows under a blacklight, that would add to its value. It's what they call Vaseline or Uranium glass. Collectors love this stuff.
Thank you!

solid videos thanks
I love your recipes. Last night I made your Creamy Chix Gnocchi Soup. Delicious. How long do you keep your butter on the counter? I'm nervous to do that.
I agree Melissa. I don't like chewy juice either.
On the flour bag, it says do not eat raw flour. Raw flour has e-coli and needs to be cooked.🙃love your show❤️👵Sally
Hi guys!! I was looking at the lemon cookies and it occurred to me that pecan pieces would be good in the lemon cookies. What do yall think? I’m going to try it. Thank you for sharing with us. I love watching all of your videos.
Love mashed potatoes, and gravy.😊
Love these
Thank you! And we appreciate that you've watched.
❤
We love lemon anything. My husband makes lemon cookies every Christmas that only takes 3 or 4 ingredients. We found the recipe in an old church ladies cookbook. My 23 yr old granddaughter loves them so much he makes one batch just for her. Easy and delicious. It uses Cool Whip in it.
That's very interesting. Lemon cookies with Cool Whip! Thank you so much for watching our video. Have a lovely day.
How do.make snickerdoole cookies or bread pudding thank.u
😋
Seeds in the lemon just goes to show it is natural and not genetically modified. So don’t worry about all those seeds you have to get out of the juice. Question: is that cookie scoop a special scoop only for cookies or is it actually an ice cream scoop?
Just found lemon baking chips at the store. Wondering how that would taste in these cookies?

Can you come up with oatmeal chocolate chip pecan cookies recipe
That's quite a specific cookie you're looking for there!. Tom does have some ideas for cookies around Christmas time.
👍
Didn't catch the time and temperature of the recipe for baking on a Frozen and unfrozen state.. thanks. These sound umy.
