Love these biscuits! I butter the tops right after they come out of the oven.

I used to use all purpose flour, adding all those ingredients until I started making them with seld-rising flour, 1 stick of cold butter, cut up and 1.5 cups of buttermilk, and I make my own buttermilk also. 460° for 12-15 minutes. So easy. Thanks Tom! You're a good teacher!

MR. TOM a retired school teachers in our church. Where my late husband was choir director told this advice when cooking biscuits make more than you need.take the ones you don't need bake them in oven about 6 or7 min. Let cool and in a good freezer container whe need them take out and finish baking this was some the best advice I receive I'm 86 now and still do it was great having 4 children and a husband that loved biscuits. I really enjoy your videos.

Childhood memory looking at your biscuits, mamas leftover biscuits. My sister would fight over them. Cut in half, butter both sides, and fry in a cast iron pan. I think a air fryer might work. Pour syrup of your choice over them. Wonderful breakfast.

My grandmother showed me how to make biscuits. Her are her instructions. Get a bowl of flour and make a hole in the center of it. Add some lard and mix it together with your hands. When the lard is mixed in it gradually add some milk a little at a time and mix that in too with your hands. And when it looks right pat it out on the table and use a glass to cut into biscuits. Have a cookie sheet with some lard melted in it and when coat the biscuit on both sides with the grease and bake till they look done. Her stove was a wood burning stove and she never burnt anything as long as I have known her.

You can just make the last biscuit by shaping it with your hands so you don't waste any dough! Just put it all together and flatten it same as the others. Mama always made hers by hand----never had a biscuit cutter----and they were perfectly shaped! Of course, she made them every morning, so she had a lot of practice! The last biscuit would be her "little long biscuit," as she called it; she just made it the same thickness, but just a little longer than the others. All were delicious! I have continued the tradition. I don't make them every morning, but when I make them and have a little left over, I make the "little long biscuit" like Mama did!

I just looked on Amazon, Is this similar to the board that you have, “Bethany Housewares 20 Inch Pastry Board and Cloth Set”? I would love to have one, too! Everything you make, looks delicious! Thank you for all your recipes! Eventually will get to try all of it!

FYI folks---you can put your butter in freezer -- then use a grater and grate your frozen butter -- grate mix grate mix---works well for me
