Cream Cheese Danish

  • Cream Cheese Danish
    2 tubes crescent dough sheets
2 - 8 oz. blocks cream cheese, softened
    1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
    1 egg, separated
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp cinnamon
    Preheat oven to 350°.
Stir together 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
Prepare a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
Press 1 sheet of crescent dough into the bottom of the dish.
Using a mixer, blend cream cheese, egg yolk, 1 cup sugar, and vanilla. Spread this over the crescent sheet.
Place the second sheet of crescent dough on top of the filling mix.
With a fork, whisk the egg white. Brush some (not all) of the egg white on the top layer of crescent dough. Sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon on top.
Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Note: You can eat this warm as soon as it comes out of the oven. My preference, however, is to chill it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before cutting and serving. This keeps the filling from running out once it has been cut.

I truly like watching you Tom! And your wife Melissa sounds amazing as well. Thank you for replying to a couple of my messages. I wasn't sure if people really read them or not. But it is appreciated that you listen even though I'm not trying to be bossy LOL I am really just trying to share you some ideas just to try. You two seem like you like to try different things. So I throw my two cents in here and there LOL I'm sorry if that offends you. I really liked watching you guys you seem like a really good people and I would love to have met you. If you're ever interested in a recipe that you don't know how to make? Please reach out to me and I'll be more than happy to share a recipe with you. I've been a chef for many many years. I was taught by the best my Nonna it was off the boat from Sicily. I went to culinary school in England and my twenties.. I've traveled a lot of countries picking up different spices and things. I love food LOL I love to share my food with people. There's something again that you don't know how to make? Please reach out and you can keep it for your own. I don't need any credit for it. I would just love to see you make it. I wanted to do it. That would be happy giving it to you guys to do for yourselves. I am sure Tom is a much better teacher than I am lol.. I'm an Italian woman from New Jersey but I live in West Palm Beach Florida. I talk fast I'm very funny but I don't think I would be good doing step-by-step and explaining everything like you do Tom. God bless you and your family ❤

I can't leave anything "well enough alone". So, after spreading the cream cheese, I layered a small can of Country Apple Pie Filling! I had to bake it forty-five minutes. I might bring the oven temp up a little...Next, I'm going to leave out the cinnamon and try drained pineapple chunks. The variations are endless...@@comesitatmytable9044

"Waste not, want not" My mother grew up during the Great Depression and she wasted nothing. She scraped off the butter wrapper to get all the butter. So many things she taught me and my children. Daddy said she would pinch a penny until Lincoln squealed. She was not miserly, just frugal. She used the money she saved on food to buy extras around the house. It touched my heart for you to scrape the beaters. Thanks. Can't wait to try your recipe.

Have used cherry filling, and also raspberry preserves (without seeds). Cherry & cream cheese is easier to find in our store bought. But, raspberry is harder. The nice part about the preserves, or pie filling, is that you don't have to worry about the moisture so much. 👍

Mama and Daddy LOVED this recipe! Growing up, Mama would add a can of pie filling sometimes before adding that top layer of crescent rolls. And she would put the whole egg in the cream cheese filling and just sprinkle powdered sugar over the top (she wasn't much for cinnamon). Use whatever flavor fruit pie filling you like. My favorite was always strawberry or blackberry. Hers was cherry or peach. Daddy's was whatever he could get! 😂 But ultimately just the cream cheese alone is best.

I live in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 and we don't have the dough sheet...we have pillsbury pizza dough, but I don't think it would be the same...so I will have to get the tube of crescents and pinch them together...
Thanks for the info! Happy Baking 🥄

This recipe says 1 cup sugar divided. It seems that your demonstration used one cup with cream cheese and a scant 1/2 for cinnamon mixture. Whick once is correct. I cant wait to try.. Thanks in advance

@rosamundmundy6966 In the US, "Pillsbury Crescent Rolls" dough comes in a cardboard cylindrical tube - much like canned biscuit dough. I was surprised though at how easy the recipe for the diy crescent dough is. I hope this helps...
