  • In this video, we have a special guest, Michael Yang, a Section 3 GAMSAT expert with a score of 97. Michael Yang is also the creator of a program that we teach in our Section 3 group shoots. In this episode, I collected questions from our audience, and Michael graciously agreed to answer them. We are here to provide you with valuable insights and tips to help you prepare for the GAMSAT.
In this video, we start with some general questions before diving into specific strategies for annotating difficult texts in a time-efficient manner. Michael shares his expert advice, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the answer and finding the necessary information instead of getting caught up in every detail. He discusses the four-step approach he teaches his students, which includes skimming and dissecting the stem, breaking down the question, establishing a pathway, and reaching the answer.
For non-science background students, Michael acknowledges the challenges they may face but reassures them that foundational science knowledge and basic mathematical skills are essential. He also highlights that reasoning plays a significant role in biology and that a deep understanding of every biological concept is not necessary for the GAMSAT section 3.
Join us in this informative video as Michael Yang shares his expertise and practical tips to help you improve your time management and approach to Section 3 of the GAMSAT. Don't miss out on the valuable insights that will enhance your preparation and boost your chances of success.

Hi, great interview. I notice you try to keep videos short. I'd like to suggest that if you still have something to say and you're just not waffling, keep going! People have no problem listening for hours. For example, the abc minefield I know you're a fan of also cut off around the hour mark and it gets so frustrating because it feels like they're just getting started sometimes, so perhaps you can relate to that. Nevertheless, you're a fantastic interviewer, so don't short yourself.

Thanks for the feedback, Steve. I'll keep that in mind! I've found on the analytics that students rarely watch videos for more than 13 minutes - but I agree, I personally find the longer videos allow us to go into more depth. A bit of a conundrum!

Hey guys, just after some advice. I always failed maths at highscool, and naturally really struggle with it. Where would be a good place to start?

From Michael (Yang): "Maths in S2 is not too advanced. I believe its a matter of "are you able to use formulas." So my advice would be to practice basic arithmetic, basic linear algebra, scientific notation, indices, logarithms, surds. Most effective way is to practice science theory questions from des science book where you can touch up on science knowledge on top of practice mathematics." Hope that helps
