    Great video. Even though you only have 21 subscribers so far, your content is good and you can get far. May I ask, what were your raw scores (both individual for each section and overall) in your successful attempt?

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind message! Section II and III were mid 70s and high 70s respectively. I found it quite difficult to improve on my section I score though 😅Overall was low 70s ~ 96/97%ile in my year. Hope this helps!

    Do you HAVE to write an essay? I've seen some people mention that the instructions only ask you to provide a piece of writing. Unless this is outdated? Just curious

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Good question! @flyson01 You're right, the writing task doesn't have to be a traditional 'essay' and can take the form of another piece of writing. However, keep in mind that you will still need to explore the ideas and issues in the prompt, maintain good structure and be clear with your ideas. Often, the safest way to do this is with the traditional essay format - but if you're more comfortable writing in another way then that's fine too! I talk more about this in an upcoming video :)

      @@adam_is Does this mean you can do a discursive, rather than a traditional essay?

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@carryofallcarrieslol5338 Technically yes - you may write in a variety of different styles, so long as it still addresses the key criteria the GAMSAT markers are looking for - I have a video on this coming shortly so stay tuned! Obviously I am not a GAMSAT assessor, but based on my experience, I recommend a traditional essay structure as I feel this is the safest way for students to write a well structured essay! My next video should hopefully speak to this more - its in the works!

    Hi Adam, really helpful video. If it ain't too much to ask, what was your GPA? Does a GPA of 6.2-6.3 give you a shot at getting an interview?

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you have a chance with a GPA of 6.2-6.3. You’ll likely also need a strong GAMSAT score to go a long with it. There are plenty of factors that come into play - what university you apply to, what their requirements are, bonuses etc - always best to take this all into account!

    Just curious, in the first part of the video you said that if we took the September sitting you wouldn't be able to use it for the following year but the year after. Does this mean that if I sit the GAMSAT in September this year I won't be able to use my results in a 2025 application starting in 2026?

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Fair question - to clarify:
      If you sit in September 2024, you will be able to use your score to apply in 2025, will the aim of starting medical school in 2026. What I was getting at in the video is that if you sit the GAMSAT in September, you are not able to then begin medical school the year after as the application period for the following year would have already closed and therefore your GAMSAT score cannot in that same year that you sat the exam. Hope this helps :)

    Is this through Monash? If yes , I noticed that Monash and some other universities offer a pathway to medicine. Is this mean , it’s guaranteed or u still have to fight a competition , assuming that 100 of students would be applying for this pathway? Seems like very limited places are offfer for people who have done different degrees.

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, Monash do offer pathways to medicine. However, the pathway is quite competitive - there are only 50 places allocated into medicine for 500-600+ biomedical science students. It definitely gives you an additional pathway to study medicine but I would still be advocating for studying the gamsat and going down that route to give yourself the best chance

    • @peppapig7915

      @@adam_is I am little confused about, if u do a degree with Monash or any other uni, u still have to sit in gamsat in the final year of your degree? It would not be automatically that one would transition into medicine? Those 50-60 places they offer would be based on ur GpA , gamsat and interview, like the rest of them who didn’t do degree from Monash?

      Either would be fine and would count toward your application in 2026! I found it easier to study over summer (when I didnt have uni distractions), so I opted for the March sitting. You can always sit september as well if you want another chance to sit the exam that year.

      As I said, I reckon these courses can be super helpful! They have fantastic resources and help guide you through the gamsat ‘curriculum’ so to speak with practice exams etc. The one consideration I would say (aside from cost) is that it’s not a replacement for doing study in your own time. The course is only helpful if you utilise it alongside regular study to build up your skills in each area. Hope that helps!

    • @adam_is
      @adam_is  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there, thanks for your question. The best advice I can give would be to check out the GEMSAS Guide. This outlines the admission requirements for each university and the bonuses they offer. Some universities will offer bonusus for PhDs or Masters qualifications but this varies extensively between each university. Regarding other exams - typically the GAMSAT is the primary exam for entry into graduate medicine but again, take a look at the GEMSAS guide, some universities may require the SJT (Situational Judgement Test) and they may also have specific English language requirements. Will try and put together a video for international students 🙏🏻 Hope you found this helpful!
