    I really liked the idea that the Xenomorphs are an unknown hostile alien life rather than created by an android with God complex, as much as it is interesting that way, I just love the cliche 'unknown organism' tho.

    I think the major theme of this new Alien Prequel Trilogy is that creation destroys creator. So I believe the first Alien Queen will not see David as the true master of the Alien race and will kill him, leaving the Xenomorphs to run amok on their own.

    • @BigMikeMcBastard
      @BigMikeMcBastard 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@babyray5643 Ridley Scott is kind of a dumbass, though, unfortunately. For example he insists Deckard in Blade Runner is a replicant, even though the script wasn't written that way, the original book isn't written that way, and nobody else who worked on the film thinks that way. To say nothing of how Deckard being a replicant would undermine the story.
      In other words, all bets are off. Ridley could very easily make a final movie in this series and totally and completely fuck over any kind of continuity between the films. He only cares about his little ideas, and not how this might impact the film or, certainly, films made by David Cameron or others.

    I always thought they made a big mistake when they decided to explore how the xenomorphs came to be. A small part of the whole scariness of them is you don’t know where they come from or really how to stop them. (without extremely high cost) They should have just left their origins ambiguous like how in Star Wars with yoda we don’t know the name of his species or where he comes from.

    The Alan Dean Foster novel for ALIEN: Covenant explains David was copying "The Recipe" and the Engineers did make the xenomorphs. He put his own touch on it by adding Shaw's tissue samples and other adjustments. When David first entered the lab, it was down long flights of stairs from the surface and biomechanical. He euthanized an egg (ovamorph) with a Face Hugger inside. "Very aggressive.." David told Captain Oram.

    The story was a relative rehash of earlier ideas, certainly not the satisfying conclusion of an Engineer arc, but I do love the heightened credibility the Neomorph and Protomorph offer the Alien concept. They're sleek and minimalistic in a way that couldn't be captured with 1979 practical effects. Yet, I think part of it was in executing the biomechanoid angle. I read a great excerpt from the art department of Star Trek, First Contact. What was great about that was she now had the budget and time to give the Borg's tissue a texture and vein density that made them look altered from the inside out, as opposed from the outside in. That lack of "infected with technology" organics with the original Alien, along with it's already awkward movements, made it more "contrived Frankenstein" in my mind, than the abomination I think they intended. Perhaps a bit more humanity to have given it a "But for the grace of God, go I." feel would have ratcheted up the fear...Heck, just the humanoid teeth and jaw of the Protomorph bring a horrifying recognition.

    David didn't create the xenomorphs. It's stated plainly in the film that he can perfectly imitate others' creations, but he has no imagination and can't create anything new on his own. His experiments with the goo were being directed by the goo itself in a sense, he was merely trying to understand its evolution, pretending to be a new creator god. Lest we forget, there was a mural of a xenomorph on the Engineer ship in Prometheus.

    As of now and with Scott beint intent on abandoning the prequels, the Protomorph has zero connections to the Xenomorph from LV-426, and as per Covenant novelization it can be deduced that David merely created his own variant of Xenomorph.

    • @djmaydraws3862
      @djmaydraws3862 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed but it could be possible that he can achieve a normal xenomorph. It seems clear the xenomorph (based on the mural) is what happens when an engineer is infected with the black goo/pathogen. Considering humans are very similar to engineers genetically it stands to reason that with enough human hosts David could eventually achieve the normal xenos we see the majority of the franchise

    David didnt create the xeno...this is canon confirmed if you pay attention to the movie.
    He is reversing the modifications done by engineers on the black goo dna - He wants to "unbanish the wolf".

And thanks to this great videos know i understand it mutch easyer the ideas behind the Neomorph and all this other creatures in the movie, so i finally decided to complete my movie collection, and went to buy the blue ray of Alien Covenant :D

    Despite the hate this film gets, I love the Protomorph. (Probably my fav Xeno variant after the OG Xeno and the Runner in A3). Although it lacks the Xeno’s calculating intelligence, I liked how it’s so savage and downright wild and gives no shot about anything that stands in its way. Reminded me of the Runner in A3 (the Xeno with the highest kill count by far). Love how the Protomorph resembles the OG Xeno and the Runner in both aspects.

    The elephant behind the tree for me is the complete ignorance to the cyborg technology. That's actually more impressive to me than xenomorphs. Manufacturing an independent thinking mind is no easy feat.

    Love the video. The quality is great! 2 quick questions: I'm hoping to do a video on the Alien series myself. I was wondering (1) what program do you use to make these videos (2) how did you get clips of the movie? I'm trying to find ways to appropriately pull clips of a few seconds or just find good stills.

    David created the xenomorphs we see in all the main films technically, but the Engineers and Space Jockeys created the original black goo and xenomorphs along with "blueprints" that of which David used.

    The reason we felt shortchanged by Promotheus and Covenent was because both times Ridley gave us expectations he didn't deliver on. Specifically I remember that he said Prometheus would explain everything, but it absolutely didn't. If Convenent had been in Prometheuss place then it would have made sense, but he made new promises for that film.

    After seeing that laboratory, and hearing David lament the lack of one vital ingredient, I would run as fast as my legs could carry me, jumped back on the Covenant, and high tailed it back to Earth without stopping to pick up me colleagues.

  • @allusive2903

    Yep David isn’t the creator of the Xeno, he just experimented and created his own strand of them. If you watched Prometheus you’d recall a scene when they first enter the Engineer ship they come across a mural of some kind and it has an engraving of a Xeno.

    IDK if you've seen Lost but I think it has some stuff that could be nostalgic and cool to some, like me lol. Some things to explain if you were interested could be the smoke monster, how the island worked, the numbers, etc. I hope you've already seen this show, but if you have not I highly recommend it! I hope you see this and I'll think of some more things you might find nice. Love the channel!

  • @sasquatchhadarock968
    @sasquatchhadarock968 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess the prequels are retconning the AVP universe out of existence, huh? If AVP is canon, David did not create the first xenomorph, merely unlocked that species' DNA from the black liquid bioweapon of the engineers. As we saw in AVP 1, the Yautja had been hunting xenomorphs on earth since ancient, pre-incan time. It's possible the Yautja came across the xenomorphs without making contact with the engineers, though it would be a trip of a movie to think the Yautja were mortal enemies of the Engineers, thus amusing themselves by using the Engineer's offspring as fodder for a ritual hunt.
