- THE NEW TAYLORMADE IRONS... WAS I WRONG?! In 2020 we have seen the launch of the new Taylormade P770 Irons and the Taylormade P7MC irons as well as the Taylormade P7MB irons... ive reviewed all three of them and compared them to the best irons of 2019, and best irons of 2020... which are undoubtedly the Taylormade P790 irons both first and second generation... but which irons should you use? what are the best irons for you? I feel like I was potentially wrong about the P7MC irons after using them more outside on the golf course. So myself and @Chris Dennis Golf take each other on in a rather different Taylormade P770 vs Taylormade P7MC iron head to head... let's do it... and let's do it now!
Not gonna lie that cackle from Chris on the first tee was absolute gold
My P7MC heads will be here end of week, then my fitter will build them to my specs with my set of cTapers. Can't wait to hit them!! In the fitting, they were a club longer than my Apex Dot's with Modus Tours, so I'm pretty excited.

I also switched from ping irons to the P770. Favorite looking, sounding & feeling irons I’ve ever hit. Couldn’t be happier
Love the P7MC ....tried them on trackman against my own iron and after that played several rounds with the demo iron and loved it. Very easy to hit (fairway and out of the rough) and can shape the ball whatever I want (draw, fade, high, low). Feels like my MP18 blades but with a little more forgiveness and a little bit longer. Hit one from out of the rough and had to shape it and thought that it would ‘t get to the green but it was on the green and close for birdie. And that happened several times a better result than I expected. Could be in the bag for 2021...if delivery Taylormade speeds up... at this moment 2 months waiting time and could be even longer because of Covid 😳 Also the P770 are great irons but for me P7MC “feels” better. Maybe P770 in 5-4 iron.
In regards to P7MCs same experience. Great balance of shape control and forgiveness in shots. I think any mid handicap to low would love the club.Love from 6 to pitching wedge. Find a penetrating flight. In the longer irons 3-5 play the p770 or p790 weaker lofts
My Dad and I play a little 9 hole course in our area. We play a game called Pick Em. We each start with all clubs in the bag. We coin flip for who goes first. First person selects a club they want to keep in the bag, max of 6 clubs plus putter, so 7 total. He picks driver, he keeps driver in his bag but I have to remove my driver from my bag.Then I pick 3 wood (or whichever club I fancy)and keep in my bag but he takes his 3 wood out (or obviously the club that corresponds to what I chose). This continues until 6 clubs, plus putter are reached. The course has 4 tee boxes, obviously drastically changing the yardage. From the parking lot we toss a tee and whichever tee box the tee points too, we play from there. It's an absolute blast and would love you and Chris to do something similar. It generally works out to where we just have every other club in our bag but on occasions one of us goes off the beaten path and ends up with some serious gaping issues to overcome. But not knowing the course yardage until after picking the bag is a lot of fun and can lead to a long day for someone.

I would love it if you and Chris would invest in a camera that does a better job with the brightness exposures. The videos are sometimes hard to watch when the image does dim and then bright in cyclical fashion....I do love the banter and videos though...

I went from mizuno muscle backs to the hot metal and started enjoying hitting the ball again.
My 770s are on order so this has got my juices going. They were so forgiving on off centre hits. Not sure they work with hozzle rockets......
I’d love the P770’s. probably similar to the Callaway Steelhead XRs.....with KBS Tour shafts.🙃

JR. Been following for a bit. Could you review the Arias zero offset irons set and wedges. I've always liked blades irons with minimal offset and these things look beautiful
I've demoed both clubs - as I 5 handicap, I would order the PW & 9 of the P7MCs and then the 8 through 5 of the P770s. The sole width of the PW of the P770 is HUGE and very off-putting (the rest of the clubs are fine) so swapping it for the P7MCs is a no-brainer. I also personally like a PW @ 47 degrees (P7MC) and I like the face milling for water control of these faces - also good for the 9 iron - both thinner soles would be far better at chipping around the green.
I have demoed them as well. TBH I wasn't that impressed with the P7MCs, they felt hard, much harder than my i210s and gave no better ball flight than my i210s. P770s though were very impressive - although I did not try the PW
@@justinstephenson9360 The PW you would only notice looking at the sole - the width of the PW sole is almost 2x the width of the 4 iron - it's so bizarre that once you see it you can't unsee it - and that is why I would do the swap - and if you swap the PW, you may as well swap the 9 also and blend after that - that is unless you hate blended sets. For me, the P7MCs are blades - the cavity isn't doing anything - i prefer more helping sets such as the Mizuno MMCs or the Titleist T100 (I'm an old AP2 player) but my current set is a Mizuno HMB combo set and that is why I demoed the P770s - I like the lofts (but would strengthen then 1 degrees to my desired 5 iron at 24, then 28,32,37. P7MC at 42 then PW at 47. The other thing of Tayloramade and Titleist is they are 1.5 more upright than Mizuno and I'm Mizuno minus 1.5 - so Taylormade I'm -2.5 to -3. All in, the P770s are great clubs
And that’s why I take driver off the 1st tee even if it’s a par 3 🤣
Do you have face tracking on the auto focus? Maybe try just the fixed point focus on centre of screen. That’s what I use when not using face and point focus together
I hit the 770s and as a 20 handicap I think I could game them though my wife might beg to differ

@@michaelcarter908 indeed. I’ve played 3 rounds on them so far. I’ve never loved a set of irons so much. For me they are perfect. The sound and feel is unlike anything I’ve ever hit. I hated the wag the p790 felt. I didn’t think I’d like these but hit them and after a few shots took out my credit card. They are hard to come by around here I got the demo set lol

Two curiosity questions. First, I may be wrong, but I assume chris carries a half bag for the weight. Is there a particular reason you dont use push carts? Second, I'm from the USA and thought UK used metric. Any reason you give distance in yards instead of meters?

Taylormades website will allow you to select the clubs you want if you go to customize clubs
The newer "mid handicap" irons are fantastic. I got fitted for a set of ping i500s last year and they are fantastic. Blades are going to be a thing of the past soon.
Would you consider reviewing sub 70 irons.

I've been saying it over and over why would you not play the most forgiving clubs you can buy. Even if your a pro (Especially if your a pro you take every advantage you can). I know we do it in bowling. Why would I throw a bowling ball that is not as forgiving to hit the pocket???????????????????? Golfers are STUPID??????????????
