Thanks I spent a fair amount of time searching for bolt dissasemly for my hmr and I mostly found ones for different models which don't come apart the same way. I can't understand why rifle makers have a bunch of different bolt designs you'd think they would settle on one reliable design. Savage does this. I will probably order the CPR bolt shroud now as during my search I saw a competition shooter have a bolt failure to cock due to the threads slipping.
Thank you for your question, it is a good and valid question. This rifle is less than a year old, since I purchased it, however I'm not sure how long it may have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The problem that I saw, that was of concern to me, is that the shroud is cast aluminum. With around 100 or so rounds through the rifle. When I disassembled the bolt to jewel it I found the threads of the shroud already showing sings of galling: A common problem with aluminum and steal interfacing. This would lead to failure at some point, how long before it fails, I'm not sure. I decided to eliminate it sooner than later by replacing it.
That seems like a pretty good price change. I would give them a call 361-550-7033 just to check with them in person. I found them really good to work with. Thank you for sharing.

@@q-man762 evaluating the rifle I saw it as a real possibility for future failure. I really want reliability and function in my weapons.
Is this the original shroud from 2016-2018? Because Bergara did upgrade the shrouds.
