    And you're right about not being able to pay people to care. Not all instructors are willing to help a student go "All the way", that is to sub 1/4 MOA performance.
    I've found that previous instructors I've learned from, while very nice people, weren't really able or willing to answer all my questions. Granted I did learn a lot from them anyway becasue I was so new.
    But looking back, they really only seemed to be in the business of helping new shooters get their feet wet. So, thanks for what you do!
    Before, I would get random bits of advice from those instructors about equipment selection. They might recommend a trigger to me, or a barrel manufacturer, or something. But not able or willing to help me get the whole eco system.... That being, the rifle, the dies, the reamer, and the in-depth instruction that you provide.
    If I'd have just started with you from the beginning, I could have built (2) custom rifles by now with all the money I spent trying to piece together everything you're giving me.
    So, Thanks for all that!

    My question on the AMP press is, once you've already refined all the other processes before bullet seating (annealing, neck lube trimming etc) down to an exact science, and you've proven out the process time and time again, do you still need to see how hard it takes to seat that bullet now? I mean, if you've mastered the consistency in the brass prep process, shouldn't they all at this point in time, be seating pretty much the same now?

      Unfortunately there is always something that comes up on a few rounds, no matter how meticulous you are. These components are just not as similar to each other as we want them to be. So yes, it's necessary for every round you load, because there is always the possibility that one will not be correct. If you can't detect that before you fire it, then you've got a flyer... plain and simple.

    I must admit I was surprised at the difference "Don't start unless you are going to finish" tip made. I had pretty good +/- 5 results before but way more consistent +/- 2-3 when doing in one swell foop (4 different test runs so not statistically significant but is indicative). Makes me wonder if some of my surprisingly good fire forming groups were due to that (almost always did those start to finish). Thanks Greg!!!

    Great info, as usual! I will have to be looking into upgrading my press in the next months as well looks like. I am getting good at holding a 2 thou variance across 98% of my rounds. I am very pleased to hear that from you. I was struggling to keep exact same, so hearing 2 is good. I have about 85% the same CBTO, with a few 1 thou out and 2 on the rest. Hardly any outside that, but I use them for practice, not matches.
    On the music, it is a bit on the loud side. Foe my videos, I typically bump my talking track plus 5 or 6 then my background music usually negative 44 to 48. Barely heard, mainly only when I'm not talking. It is easy to have the music drown out the voice, and that is what we want from you! To hear the experience you are sharing!!

    Greg thank you for the video. I must say I’m guilty of the complete case prep and storing the cases ready to go, but waiting to finalize the loading step until I’m ready to hunt or shoot. Meaning powder and bullet seating. That’s gonna be a hard habit for me to break, but I will say that I have found or experienced springback when the cases sit there for some time which obviously that leads to a seating issue, but I’ve had issues where I have completed the process as you mentioned, but then the ammunition sits there for a year or two and now I’ve created a metallurgical stick in the neck and I have to go back and crack the bullet just a touch on the press.

    Another Monster that I find is Ogive inconsistancy that drives me nuts for seating depth consistancy. One seed that I use is the Long range Accubond. Great bullet, but the Ogive is all over the place. If you measure the Ogvie on each bullet out of the box with a comparator. I have found 5 different variances in Ogive size with these bullets.

    • @ChadKelly7
      @ChadKelly7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. I use the 108 Hornady in my 6 Creed and have got to the point I sort each box. Usually 1 size will be the largest pile, start there. Then adjust die up or down 1 or 2 thou for the next pile. Helps a lot to go thru faster when they are pre-sorted. And getting same lot number helps that a lot!! Large variance from lot to lot I have discovered. Once I started this after my first box, it was much smoother sailing.
      Typically, all within 2 thou for the whole batch.

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just seal it up back in its factory container. It will reach equilibrium inside its factory container quite quickly once sealed back up. Even 8lb containers show no appreciable change within reasonable time periods.

    • @michaeldoyle5001
      @michaeldoyle5001 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@primalrights By seal it up, are you taping the lid on, or just screwing it down? And do you use a dessicant inside? Thanks for the quick response.

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@michaeldoyle5001 No desiccant. There is already humidity in the powder, we don't want to alter the formula they have. Factory containers have seals in them. Often the primary seal which is torn off and discarded, then a secondary seal which is meant to be used for the remainder. If it is not in good repair, then an aftermarket seal can be found in the form of a rubber gasket. Screw the lid on tight, and you're good.

    I’ve had issues with concentricity so I’ve got a concentricity gauge and I’ve used it to measure runout after every step of brass prep. Prior to bullet seating, I’ve had 1 to 2 thousandths total runout at the most in a batch of brass but after seating the bullet, I’ve got up to 8 thousandths runout. Though most are still showing under 4 thousandths runout, I’m confused as to what could cause this. I’m using sierra game king bullets, nosler accubonds have shown the same issue, and I’m using a rock checker and Forster co-ax. Dies are RCBS and Forster.
    In all every case, there’s virtually no runout after firing the cases, virtually no runout after FL sizing on either press or with either set of dies, and virtually no runout after expanding the necks with a mandrel. What would cause runout after seating?
    I heard you mention that an overfilled case can cause this and I am at max capacity on one cartridge I’m loading but the other is not full and I still get the same results on both.
    35 Whelen, full case.
    7mm Rem Mag, nearly full case.

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      An "overfilled" case will not likely cause runout. I think you may have misheard me, if you're thinking I've said that. Given your situation you've described, your bullet seating op is where the problem is showing up, so that would be the place to start. If you'd like to get signed up for our mentorship program, I'd be happy to help you diagnose the issue. You can call during the week if you'd like info on how to get signed up.

    Regarding rice tumbling, I bought some of the Nishiki Premium Rice, Medium Grain. My question is, if I'm only shooting 6.5 PRC cartridges, would you still recommend milling that rice? Do you only mill so it's easier to clean smaller cases? Or do you find that milled rice just cleans better? Also, do you have to use the dryer sheets because of the milling process? Thanks!
