Resynching the key FOB worked for me. For those of you can get their key FOBS working again by replacing the batteries with new ones, only to have it stop again within a few days, I recommend resynching your FOBs. As Easy Steps mentioned in the description, you just 1. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position. 2. Press and release the lock button (on the FOB). 3. Press and hold the unlock button (on the FOB). 4. Within 1-2 seconds, press the remote's lock button five times in a row while holding the unlock button. This should resynch your key FOB to your vehicle.
You absolute legend! I have spent all day pressing various different buttons, holding, clicking, back flipping! Why did I not watch this straight away. Changed the fuse and BOOOOM. IT WORKS!!! Thank you !

Was it the same #8 fuse ? On a ML350 the fuse for that is 33 and 34. I have the same problem with 2006 ML 350. Can you please tell me where to find that fuse and what number is ? Thank you.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention about the fuse box !! I have a 2014 Mercedes ML350 and recently I had the car serviced at a Mercedes main dealer, then about a week later the engine management light came on and I took it back to the main dealer which is close to my house, they said that it was a new part for the turbo needing fitted and new seals too, this cost me £1200.00 to repair, but two days later after getting it fixed the engine management light came back on, so I returned it to them and they said it was coinsidence but now I need another new part for a different part of the car, again with a huge repair bill this time for just under £1400.00, but a few days after this was fixed another enginge management light came on and by now I'm feeling lighter in my wallet and feeling not very happy another engine management light has come back on and again just a few days after the last repair. The thing is Mercedes don't give a stuff about your car, they just want your money and they think that you should do repairs immediately irrespective of costs or whether you can afford it or not, so anyway I am now reluctant to take it back to them so they can dream up another huge repair bill and for them to get it wrong a third time, but just before I got it serviced and repaired so many times the message came up on my screen saying "Change battery in keyfob" but they have never once said anything about it to me. I have changed it myself but to no avail it still doesn't work properly and then I bought a packet of two small Mercedes Benz keyfob batteries and neither of them make any difference either, but I never thought about the fusebox ?? so after watching your video I now think that I will be looking at my fusebox too to see if this is where the problem originates from, to be honest I am a little dissapointed in Mercedes for finding all these expensive faults and for all the cost this has given me, especially if my warning lights come on just for a fuse, it might be like this.......you know in your house if you have a bulb blown and you don't change it, then the all start to blow because the circuit is broken, well it might be the same in my car except that it is my battery or my fuse. Outstanding dude,it fixed my problem,for months the damn thing would not lock/unlock the...had to go very close to the door sensors but even then I had to use the key most of the times.We all know how hard it is to get that skinny key out and turn it....nightmare. I went to the dealer and considered buying a new key,thinking the one I have must be faulty...you made my day,thank you.

This fix worked but only for a few days at a time. It keeps blowing fuses, so it must be a short. I'm not having any luck locating it. Has this happened to you? Or did the one time fuse replacement work? Great video 👍

What if my issue is I have to press 3-4 times at a closer distance to get the keys to work? They still work but not very responsive. I changed the battery and still the same issue.

Cherie Arnold I don’t think so you may have to go to a Mercedes specialist. I had an issue with my key fob and it turned on when it wanted to. It turned out to be a bad key fob.
I have both remotes. Only one is not working. I tried all of the suggestions except for changing the fuse. I figured if one of the remotes works, then changing the fuse most likely won`t work. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

My problem is weird and i believe it is similar to urs, have u tried to take ur remote key closer to the sensor of the door? I bought the same model w211 4 years ago and the seller gave me 2 keys (one is similar of urs and the other was different) the one which is like urs requires to get closer to the sensor in door handle and the other works fine i also replaced the batteries

Thanks, for the video. Just sharing my experience. If your key is not defective but not opening the car after after battery change. Open the car with a spare key or mechanical key door then remove spare key out of the car 2 meter away. Start the engine with a key fob with just replaced batteries, stop the engine and now your key shall start working again.

@osa698, did you find a solution? I also question #8 being universal and do not see a fuse assigned to an “antenna” function like other comments have suggested.
My fuse was fine and had relatively new batteries in the fob but still wouldnt work sometimes. I fixed it by using one CR2025 and one CR2032 battery. The 2032 is the same one but thicker, so it is more snug when inserting into the fob, i think it makes better contact in my worn out 20 year old key.
Soft top works.. at certain stages .. I know there is a screw to release pressure.. I know if it’s tight you can’t manually pull up the soft top out the trunk area.. i think there might be a certain position it needs to be in at all times unless you’re manually opening and closing it.. is there a way to set it ??
I had this issue, however fuse #8 kept blowing when replaced. Fuse #8 shares the central locking, trunk opening, and alarm siren. I took out the front passenger side fender liner to access the siren, it's in a vulnerable place, and after 20 years no longer working. Pulled the connector, wrapped it in tape and clipped it out of the way. replaced the fuse and the locking now works, a new siren is $160 so now the siren is eliminated, as far as I can tell the alarm still works, but is silent.
odd thing, my remote stopped working exactly as you mention in your video but the manual key inside the fob doesn't unlock the door so I can't get into the truck. Even my spare doesn't work... now what?

Have the same issue. Pulled the 7.5 fuse out, looked fine but still replaced it with the same one (provided with the car by MB in a little bag inside the tire changing kit) ...the problem has not gone away. Both keys..

I have a 2003 W211 E320. Remote won't work. Batteries changed, light flashes (Did before also) Doors locked so have to use the key. When I do that the alarm goes off for reasons only Mercedes can explain . Have had 5 Mercedes in my life dating back to 66 and they now have problems that our 5 Lexus have never had.
Cool vid my key red light doesn't flash when I press on my lock button, so I can't lock my car from the key fob, just unlock it ! ESP it's showing up on the screen 2001 E430 ! will this procedure work,I don't have the original key fob ,I have transfer it to an upgraded metal key fob ! but it has been like this since I purchase the car,there is a bunch of functions that doesn't work,sunroof,radio, little controls,windows and rear view mirrors are all crazy !

That's as far as everybody can go with the remote not working. Everybody goes for fuse number 8 at the back of the trunk, and to my surprise they all find that is the problem!!! What happens when the fuse is good? Where do you go from there??? Nobody has the answer because everyone solve their issue at the fuse box.....never go beyond that point. Experts.

I had the same issue on a W203. checked all fuses and relays, and noothing was bad. after this, the keyfob was working. I thought it was just "bad contact" on the fuse.
@easy steps I have this same problem but in my case the key isn't responding at all. It can't lock and unlock the car and it doesn't turn wen u put in the ignition. No zip sound to unlock steering. Its more like the key doesn't belong to the car. I have checked the 8 fuse it's perfectly OK. I even replaced the battery of the key FOB still not working. What do I do? I'm kinda stranded here ☹

I have a 2010 E-350 Coupe with two key fobs. My everyday key fob dropped & stopped working; it wouldn't do anything at all ... other than blink red. I've replaced with a new battery and still no action. My secondary key fob works just fine without any issue. Thanks!
Easy Steps fuse looked fine on mine, changed it anyway and gave a little tap on the tailgate trim (c class coupe) where the antenna is located... Everything seems to be working just fine now.. thanks! 👍

You got a short somewhere which causes to blow up the fuse you need to look very carefully and check out . Inspect the fuse box first then troubleshoot the others. I hope it helps, thanks for watching...good luck and please share the results.

What if my issue is I have to press 3-4 times at a closer distance to get the keys to work?
They still work but not very responsive. I changed the battery and still the same issue.
Please re-sync your keyfob and hopefully, it will fix the problem.

1. Insert the key into the Ignition Switch and turn it to the ON position.
2. Press and release the Lock Button (on the FOB).
3. Press and hold the Unlock Button (on the FOB).
4. Within 1-2 seconds, press the remote's Lock Button five times in a row while holding the Unlock Button.
This should re-sync your key FOB to your vehicle.

Cherie Arnold I don’t think so you may have to go to a Mercedes specialist. I had an issue with my key fob and it turned on when it wanted to. It turned out to be a bad key fob.

I have both remotes. Only one is not working. I tried all of the suggestions except for changing the fuse. I figured if one of the remotes works, then changing the fuse most likely won`t work. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

My problem is weird and i believe it is similar to urs, have u tried to take ur remote key closer to the sensor of the door? I bought the same model w211 4 years ago and the seller gave me 2 keys (one is similar of urs and the other was different) the one which is like urs requires to get closer to the sensor in door handle and the other works fine i also replaced the batteries

Thanks, for the video. Just sharing my experience. If your key is not defective but not opening the car after after battery change. Open the car with a spare key or mechanical key door then remove spare key out of the car 2 meter away. Start the engine with a key fob with just replaced batteries, stop the engine and now your key shall start working again.

My fuse was fine and had relatively new batteries in the fob but still wouldnt work sometimes. I fixed it by using one CR2025 and one CR2032 battery. The 2032 is the same one but thicker, so it is more snug when inserting into the fob, i think it makes better contact in my worn out 20 year old key.
Soft top works.. at certain stages .. I know there is a screw to release pressure.. I know if it’s tight you can’t manually pull up the soft top out the trunk area.. i think there might be a certain position it needs to be in at all times unless you’re manually opening and closing it.. is there a way to set it ??
I had this issue, however fuse #8 kept blowing when replaced. Fuse #8 shares the central locking, trunk opening, and alarm siren. I took out the front passenger side fender liner to access the siren, it's in a vulnerable place, and after 20 years no longer working. Pulled the connector, wrapped it in tape and clipped it out of the way. replaced the fuse and the locking now works, a new siren is $160 so now the siren is eliminated, as far as I can tell the alarm still works, but is silent.
odd thing, my remote stopped working exactly as you mention in your video but the manual key inside the fob doesn't unlock the door so I can't get into the truck. Even my spare doesn't work... now what?
Try re-syncing your key and hopefully, it will work how to re-sync the keyfob the instructions are provided in the description.

Have the same issue. Pulled the 7.5 fuse out, looked fine but still replaced it with the same one (provided with the car by MB in a little bag inside the tire changing kit) ...the problem has not gone away. Both keys..

ESP it's showing up on the screen 2001 E430 ! will this procedure work,I don't have the original key fob ,I have transfer it to an upgraded metal key fob ! but it has been like this since I purchase the car,there is a bunch of functions that doesn't work,sunroof,radio, little controls,windows and rear view mirrors are all crazy !

looks is always deceiving, try changing it and if it's bad then it will fix your problem and if it's good then you know that you got other problem like a bad key fob.

That's as far as everybody can go with the remote not working. Everybody goes for fuse number 8 at the back of the trunk, and to my surprise they all find that is the problem!!! What happens when the fuse is good? Where do you go from there??? Nobody has the answer because everyone solve their issue at the fuse box.....never go beyond that point. Experts.
You always can re-sync your key-fob and see if it solves your issue.

I had the same issue on a W203. checked all fuses and relays, and noothing was bad. after this, the keyfob was working. I thought it was just "bad contact" on the fuse.
@easy steps I have this same problem but in my case the key isn't responding at all. It can't lock and unlock the car and it doesn't turn wen u put in the ignition. No zip sound to unlock steering. Its more like the key doesn't belong to the car. I have checked the 8 fuse it's perfectly OK. I even replaced the battery of the key FOB still not working. What do I do? I'm kinda stranded here ☹

I have a 2010 E-350 Coupe with two key fobs. My everyday key fob dropped & stopped working; it wouldn't do anything at all ... other than blink red. I've replaced with a new battery and still no action. My secondary key fob works just fine without any issue.

You got a short somewhere which causes to blow up the fuse you need to look very carefully and check out . Inspect the fuse box first then troubleshoot the others.
