Thanks a million!! My FOB for my 2005 SL 55 AMG wasn't working and I thought I had to go to the dealer and pay whatever they were going to charge to correct it. Luckily, I watched your video! I put the FOB in the ignition for a few seconds, took it out, then pressed and held the Unlock and Lock buttons together for 10 sec then pressed the Lock button 5 times and it worked! Much appreciated.
All I want to say is THANK YOU. This video saved me perhaps few hundred $ as I was never able to get a straight answer from either the dealer or any other local automotive locksmiths (the dealer wanted me to buy a new key). So one pair of my 2008 ML320 CDI key had stopped working (will not unlock nor will start the car) about 3 years back and since this is mostly a in-town car, I kept using the other working pair, until today. I followed the steps outlined in the video and found out that the 'broken' key had both the LED and the infrared sensor operational and they worked exactly as shown here. Next all I did was put the key in the ignition and within few seconds the car display showed "Key check-in in progress, please wait" message (Btw I didn't press both lock + unlock buttons prior to inserting the key in the ignition). Within seconds my 'inoperable' key came to life and now once again I have a working pair. Btw, I didn't have to change any fuse as one key was always operational. Thank you again and keep these great videos coming. God bless
4 years later and you're still saving our butts! Thank you for the video. The recalibration was perfect. Put the FOB in the ignition for a few seconds, then press and hold the Unlock and Lock button for 10 sec then press (in my case a 2000 E320) the Lock button 5 times and it worked! The flashers flashed a few times and it was recalibrated. One little thing, when I opened the door with the key, the alarm went off. I put the FOB in the ignition and it went off. Thanks again!!!
Wow! Thanks! My fob has been inoperable for 2 years. Changed the battery initially and that did nothing. I modified your instructions a bit. I actually started the engine with the inoperable fob rather than just putting the key in the ignition. I turned the car off and held the open and close buttons down on the fob simultaneously for 10 seconds. When I released, the car made 2 clicking sounds and the fob is now working.
Thanks for the info. The infra red trick with the camera has saved me checking the rest of the car for my unlock issue. I now know that it is my key fob that has a fault. Brilliant.

Thank you for this...a little update. If you try the "both button hold down & 5 press on the unlock " it will reprogrammed the key..BUT...you have to put the key into the ignition and the dash will say " re-calculating" The dash will return to normal after completing and its all good from then on
this is the perfect fix for me, i swapped the computer battery in my 2007 s550 and didnt know i had to resync my keys, thanks for the help. wish i knew this before i spent money on new key batteries.
Helped me with my 2009 B class, but the fuses are not in the back. Couldn't find the fuse, but fixed my key and later linked it with the car. Saved me 200 bucks
The only thing the batteries work is the lock/unlock/truck release. Anyway. What starts the car is when you insert your fob in the slot to start it you hear the steering wheel unlock. What that is is the EIS. It is magnetized and inside your fob at the end on the circuit board near the infrared light on one side is a copper coil which gets energized and that makes the 2 infrared boxes light up (you see it as one light on the outside via the camera as you showed) and sends info to the car verifying it’s the correct key and it unlocks the steering wheel allowing you to start you car. Part of Mercedes anti thief feature. Now my car won’t start because this copper coil is broken off on one end. I’m in process of repairing it. I’m just waiting on my solder kit to arrive via Amazon. And I’ll reattach it and hopefully it will work. Or else I have to get a new coil they sell on eBay

Check the fuse first, if it is ok it SHOULD show some i signs of life by locking / unlocking the car. i was playing around with this thinking why it is not working and what are my next steps without checking main step - FUSE.

In my case the buttons work only intermittently, so there is sometimes, but mostly not, an LED and an IR. Can the buttons themselves be repaired? I have an SLK from 2006, what fixed my problem was screwing back the arial. I unscrewed it after going to the car wash...... Toke a while before I knew that was the problem.
Hello I just bought myself a 2005 CLK 500 and I've been having an issue where my key sometimes will not turn so I'm in the process of cleaning the fob itself could this possibly cause the main electrical to turn off while driving and this includes the instrument cluster environment control and radio everything quits but my windows. Also oddly enough the car continues to run I have power brakes power steering and the windows of course that's it thank you.
I’m just in tears here. I don’t understand why it all just died when it was working fine when I pulled in to the garage last night. Now today the fob won’t turn at all and I realized that the steering wheel never locked. I’d never noticed it lock before. I’ve changed both batteries in the fob and checked the LED lights both with and without my phones camera. I checked every single fuse and they all light up green indicating that they are in working condition and I’ve tried to reboot the FOB as well. No such luck. I wish I’d never bought a Mercedes.

I’m just wondering if you’ve worked on this issue with a laster model ML 315 as my 2015. I’m having the same issue and I’ve tried everything in this video.(except having the module scanned) Also there’s not a fuse box in the rear anymore. I’ve checked the other three fuse boxes, but not sure which fuse it would be in those. Besides scanning the module is there anything else you can suggest? It didn’t help me 100%, but it did guide me in some tests. Who the hell knew, to use my phone to look for UV Light? Well, obviously this guy did. I narrowed it down a bit, and off to the shop next I think. I have a 2015 Sprinter Van, with about 10K on it. The other key, works well
In case it helps someone, I have fixed several Mercedes keys, if the immobilizer does not work, it is the coil, it must have continuity when measuring the ends with the multimeter, and to see if the infrared works, it is very easy, I know, I know You can use the phone's camera and press any of the buttons and you have to see it, the beam is not centered, it points a little to the side, then the buttons, they are soldered with very little tin and they usually come loose, but they are easy to remove. change.

One of them is the key fob, I have replaced the batteries and they are positioned properly. The lights work on it, I’ve checked the fuses in the areas of the engine compartment, the left/Right sides, also next to the steering wheel, there was a diagram that said there were fuses on the passenger side right next to the globe Department did not find that, did not find any fuses in the trunk, if I saw correctly, the antenna for the fob is in the trunk did not look at that yetif all of the wires are connected to it, what else should I look at?
Great video. My key fob red light works most of the time when I push the unlock button and the infrared works as well. However, neither lights work when I use the lock button. Twice in the last three weeks, I had to press the unlock button many times to get it to open. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
Always good video, anyway my 2004 c240 sat for a week when I tried starting it .it would not but the other key worked.yet the remote for locks worked on the key that won't start it and don't work on the key key that did start it
Hi @iRepair autos, I use a GL 450 2007 . My key won’t turn the ignition, it won’t work on the doors either. If i remove the battery for a while it allows the key. But once u switch off the dashboard lights stays one like you wanted to start ignition. One time the car started but it wont go into gear…. And after switching it off with the key it wont off ….. i had to remove the battery for it to turn off
So for me on my 2012 ml350 the lock button on the key fob isn’t working. I see the tiny red flash light is not coming either when I press the button. All other buttons work. Does this mean that the fob has gone bad because it isn;t transmitting the infra red light?

I tried the recalibration method you mentioned and they still don’t work. I have 3 fuse boxes, which are not labeled so I don’t know which one is for the antenna and my Manuel doesn’t say which fuse is goes where. Any suggestions, please?
Hi there! This has been bugging me for a long while. I have a 2001 ML320, and the key works just fine in starting the car and whatnot. The problem is the remote for some reason. We changed the batteries, and it did work once when I was trying to “program” it, but it only locked the doors. Do you happen to know what the problem is, maybe? Thanks!
Hi there. I recently purchased a Mercedez 2002 SLK230 Kompressor and I would like to obtain 1 or 2 extra keys and FOBS before I lose one. The dealers are outrageous. And they say the car will be ruined forevvvver if you program it with anyone besides them. Any suggestions to obtain a couple and get them programmed. I have 2 originals now, but I misplaced one somewhere in the house.

The car "picks" up the signal when you press the lock or unlock buttons, as there is a small buzzing noise that lasts for approximately 5 seconds. Although, the doors do not lock nor unlock with the fob. I can still unlock and lock it via the Mercedes me app. Help?
Not all key fobs are like that I have 2, 2003 Ml350 and someone tried stealing my car so I took the ignition out of the one that don't drive and switched the blades on the key fob and still won't start it

When I move closer to the car it locks and unlocks, but at the range of 4 to 6 feet back, it would never work

I’ve recently bought the car, there are a few bugs that I am trying to get out. One of them is the key fob, I have replaced the batteries and they are positioned properly. The lights work on it, I’ve checked the fuses in the areas of the engine compartment, the left/Right sides, also next to the steering wheel, there was a diagram that said there were fuses on the passenger side right next to the globe Department did not find that, did not find any fuses in the trunk, if I saw correctly, the antenna for the fob is in the trunk did not look at that yetif all of the wires are connected to it, what else should I look at?

Great video. My key fob red light works most of the time when I push the unlock button and the infrared works as well. However, neither lights work when I use the lock button. Twice in the last three weeks, I had to press the unlock button many times to get it to open. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
And what was the reason??

Always good video, anyway my 2004 c240 sat for a week when I tried starting it .it would not but the other key worked.yet the remote for locks worked on the key that won't start it and don't work on the key key that did start it
Great video ! my FOB does not transmit Infer Red light even I cleaned inside the FOB. Is my FOB is bad?
Lint and debris also accumulates down in the key infrared window. Alcohol swab cleanout.
Hi @iRepair autos, I use a GL 450 2007 . My key won’t turn the ignition, it won’t work on the doors either. If i remove the battery for a while it allows the key. But once u switch off the dashboard lights stays one like you wanted to start ignition. One time the car started but it wont go into gear…. And after switching it off with the key it wont off ….. i had to remove the battery for it to turn off
How did you fix it?
@@asapluck3408 It was a bad fuse with partial contact on the right side of the dashboard. you need to open the door to access the fuse board.
So for me on my 2012 ml350 the lock button on the key fob isn’t working. I see the tiny red flash light is not coming either when I press the button. All other buttons work. Does this mean that the fob has gone bad because it isn;t transmitting the infra red light?

I have a 2001 E320 and neither keybob is working to lock or unlock the doors or open the trunk. They do, however, turn on the alarm. I tried the recalibration method you mentioned and they still don’t work. I have 3 fuse boxes, which are not labeled so I don’t know which one is for the antenna and my Manuel doesn’t say which fuse is goes where. Any suggestions, please?
Hi there! This has been bugging me for a long while. I have a 2001 ML320, and the key works just fine in starting the car and whatnot. The problem is the remote for some reason. We changed the batteries, and it did work once when I was trying to “program” it, but it only locked the doors. Do you happen to know what the problem is, maybe? Thanks!

Hi there. I recently purchased a Mercedez 2002 SLK230 Kompressor and I would like to obtain 1 or 2 extra keys and FOBS before I lose one. The dealers are outrageous. And they say the car will be ruined forevvvver if you program it with anyone besides them. Any suggestions to obtain a couple and get them programmed. I have 2 originals now, but I misplaced one somewhere in the house.
Nice video. I have a 2003 SL500. Key works sometimes. It only works when key fob is next or near door handle. The key does light up the red circle. What could cause this?

I followed your video trying to unlock my Mercedes mL 350. The lights on both of my key fobs but still not able to unlock. So I tried opening the door manually and the lock will not come up after a few pulls. Any suggestions..
All works except the unlock button, it clicks but no red dot.

I accidentally washed mine! I dried it out and replaced the batteries (2008 R350). When I slide it back together the red light blinks one time. It isn’t working for unlocking or opening tailgate. It will start the car now. Thoughts?
The board got damaged. Almost impossible to fix. Sorry.

Hi so my problem is with my 06 cls500 key fob was working just fine sat the car down for a week go to unlock it an nothing changed the battery in the remote I can see the red led light up when I'm pressing the lock/unlock trunk release buttons but checked the Infrared signal with a camera an nothing,, is the remote junk can it be fixed? It does look like a aftermarket remote i believe

The car "picks" up the signal when you press the lock or unlock buttons, as there is a small buzzing noise that lasts for approximately 5 seconds. Although, the doors do not lock nor unlock with the fob. I can still unlock and lock it via the Mercedes me app. Help?

Not all key fobs are like that I have 2, 2003 Ml350 and someone tried stealing my car so I took the ignition out of the one that don't drive and switched the blades on the key fob and still won't start it

I have a 2002 S500. Key will not lock or unlock. Replaced the batteries and the red LED does not light up but able to start the car. So now I'm using my spare key as my everyday key.
check the pins that connect to the battery. Sometimes they are not making contact. If so carefully bend them up so they make better contact.
I have a 2003 320 Clk. When my battery is charged everything works. But when I put the key in the ignition I can't even turn the key or the steering wheel

i have a 2002 C230 kompressor. the red LED light works, but i tried using my camera to see the infrared, i didn’t see anything. would i still need to replace it?
+Chaleisa the infrared is responsible for sending the commands to lock and unlock the vehicle. Do those functions work?
My infrared doesn’t show but I can still lock and unlock doors but I can’t start it,,won’t crank

Hello. Mercedes Bclass 2010. Are you still giving advice. My fob is ok as far as battery is concerned.
I opened drivers door with the key. I reset the ?AAM by pressing the buttons as shown and still by inserting fob car is dead. What next? PLEASSSS
