Currently, I'm taking inspiration from Daniel Craig's wardrobe in Layer Cake: 1. Taylored suit jacket nipped in at the waist, teamed with indigo Levi's and Chelsea boots (jod boots if you ride). 2. Dunhill leather jacket with grey t-shirt, indigo Levi's, and Chelsea boots. 3. Wrist watch is either a black dial Rolex datejust or an Omega aqua terra 😎😎😎
As an alternative to a diver's watch, a military pilot or field watch also offers a rugged sophistication that enhances a man's style with a distinctly masculine edge.
Yeah I barely see any women wearing dresses unless theyre tourists its majority athleisure or a genre of aesthetic like alt or goth rarely do i see proper feminine attire
@@Landekar I personally like the fluidity of unisex fashion. It transcends the traditional boundaries allowing for a wider range of expression and creativity. The reason some items are unisex is because they look good on both men and women.
Large saucer-sized sports watches are going out of fashion. Elegant vintage dress watches are making a massive comeback for classy, sophisticated gentlemen.
If you have very large wrists, I understand why you might prefer a huge dial. However, many guys wearing these watches do not have proportional wrists. Something slim and elegant is my preference.
@@Gent.Z I consider huge dials to be those 50mm invictas. Those won't look good on any guy's wrist no matter the wrist circumference (let Shaq be an exception)
Doesn‘t matter how big the dial if it matches the wrist. My watch would look grossly disproportionate with others. I have a skinnier friend who‘s wrist would be dwarfed, but someone quite large(I‘m 6‘0“ and 210lbs) would look awful with a watch small on them
@@James_Tharp Exactly bro, I lent a watch of mine to my friend with skinny wrists and the lugs were overflowing on him. A 43 on me (and maybe you because I am also 5'11½ 215lbs) looks like a 40mm on the average guy's wrist. It's proportions which matter not the absolute size.
I think another great men's outfit for the winter is a well-fitting turtleneck. In my opinion, it's another great classically masculine addition to a gentleman's wardrobe.
@@christianvennemann9008 where I live, those are so much associated with arrogant business and finance students that wearing turtlenecks without coming across as one of those guys has become almost impossible. Which is sad, because they kinda look good, but there's also a reason these stereotype exists - I say this as a business and finance student myself, by the way.
Excellent rundown, mate. I’d like to add my guide on watches - make sure your mechanical watch of choice fits your wrist. A well-fitted watch is free from lug overhang. Diver watches can boast 40mm cases which might be too large for some wrists. Additionally make sure your watch sits just above your wrist bone. Cheers 🥂
The hands one is completely true, women see big strong hands as a sign of ability and protection. Wearing long sleeves helps to isolate them and make them stand out. If you want to make your hands appear larger; use barrel cuffs vs French cuffs.
Excellent video! I do and own most of items and affections you address. But you remind me that, even in the tropical climate of South Florida, I must be aware of appearance and behavior when i am out and about for business or social events.
On the same spectrum, being overly focused on appearance and materialistic is also feminine. Like many things attention to clothing needs balance to not be lazy or pedantic. I like this channel a lot but I think sometimes it teeters on the edge of promoting unnecessarily large wardrobes and the problem with that is that simplicity in appearance and purchases is also a masculine trait.
James - great content. Now let's see a similar video on gym attire / styles for the gym. And I don't mean the standard baggy t-shirt and definitely not those tight leggings under shorts 😆
I live in a rural state in the sw of the USA, the only occasion I have to wear a suit is for funerals, I wore a suit to a wedding once and was asked if I was in the wedding party or the officiant the entire evening...😮
@Gent.Z nice, in addition to an exercise routine, and proper hydration. I'm a guy looking to look better, and more proper, you inspire me. I love this classic, proper James Bond vibe. Women like it, and that's what matters.
It can certainly make you look more masculine, but not always better. Personally, I like the 50s ideal of masculinity when men were clean shaven. I find that clean shaven suits me better than a beard.
I love dressing nice but two things for me. One, where I work, it’s literally pointless to dress nice as I can find myself on a job site or in the metal shop at any given moment and 2. It’s Florida and hot as hell most of the year. But on the weekends I dress nicer but no suits.
Pretty solid advice I guess, time and place for everything though, I definitely wouldnt wear boots over sneakers all the time though unless it's something involving physical labor or difficult terrain or a dress boot, other then that Id rather stick with a clean pair of all black breathable lifestyle sneakers like more so running shoes that have shock absorption, the difference is quite stark in everyday comfort and usability compared to when I was just wearing cowboy boots all the time, style ≠ practicality, and I like to be active and run and do exercise, sports, calisthenics so I like being in sneakers much more, but again you have to match the footwear with the outfit and occassion I guess, I wouldn't wear sneakers with a suit that's understandable.
Absolutely. If you are masculine, dress like a man. I can be anywhere and I look around to see men dressed like little boys or androgynous. I’ve even seen straight guys wearing color nail polish. BTW, I’m also a Thursday fan. 👍
Yes, that has become more popular recently. I want people to dress however they want, but I'm happy there are many of us who prefer a traditional masculine look. Thursday make incredible shoes, I'm honored to be sponsored by them.
I have seen well-dressed men completely spoil to line and look of classic clothes by having a mobile telephone in a side pocket - trousers or jacket. Probably the best place, if you're wearing a jacket, is the inside breast pocket. Otherwise, I don't have an answer.
The problem with suits is that its no longer acceptible for every man to be wearimg a suit... i remember looking a pics of my grandpa who was a millwright, and the whole drew had pants and and a button down, hair slicked back etc... they all looked good... But today, unless you have an office job/business or law, wearing a suit makes you look try hard, because its no longer socially acceptable.
I have to disagree. I wear suits and jackets almost all the time. Yes, it makes me stand out, but in a positive way. I have no interesting in blending in with everybody else wearing sneakers and sweatpants.
Yeah ok but not JUST a suit. You need a tie too. I see so many guys wearing the new drone uniform of blue suit and white shirt with the two top buttons undone & no tie. This is literally the female business suit of the 80s-90s when women were making big leaps into corporations. The other day I saw three guys standing on a corner talking to each other, all wearing this exact outfit. I want to say "nice pantsuits, Hilary" but that's not nice.😅
Personally I agree with your list Nice watch always add bit of elegance I own few watches but by far my seamaster is my favourite as not too flashy but elegant In my opinion once man leaves high school sneakers do not belong in your footwear closet. Dress shoes loafers & laced boots always much better choices
Here in San Francisco if you are a man you look homeless. If you dress very well you are gay how sad. I would like to see more men dressed as men. Love the videos!! ❤
YT must be paying you well if you expect folks to spend thousands on clothes. Wasting hundreds of $$$ in the "Thursday" shop, on a single item is wasteful, careless and irresponsible, nothing manly here, except mismanagement. Are you expecting me to arrive in a Merced/BMW as well?
Wrong! Women prefer men's thighs over biceps! And we love a good posterior as well. Stop overlooking the lower body. Why do you think loose appeal if they skip leg day?
Male fashion is becoming incredibly feminized. I was out spending time with my mother last week, and she couldn’t believe the cropping on men’s t-shirts that stores are selling now. Borderline croptops.

That's a good observation. Personally, I think gender differences should be celebrated rather than muted.
Not androgenized, simply atrocious. The consideration of local colors, the search for harmonic geometry - All gone and dead

I dislike them. Too tight. Takes away the natural silouette of the neck and looks uptight not relaxed
