Today is 12/4/2023 and I just got off the phone with customer support . My D-pad didn't come with the back dome piece shown at 8:41 . They told me via the phone that this video is outdated and they never updated the video. " I believe about a year ago we changed the d-pad . I know it looks similar but their are small details that are different . " I said that Chris Bailey said that the buttons would get stuck so that was the reason for the black dome piece. He said that I wouldn't experience that issue and the dome piece is no longer required . I asked has that error been fixed in this new version and he said " correct " . So just to let you know you aren't missing anything and you're fine ! If they happen to read this Please update this video so others aren't confused !

The D pad was driving me crazy, givng me input errors all the time. When pressing up or down it goes left or right sometimes and vice versa. And after watching this video I decided to open up the Ps5 controller. It wasn't that difficult. I removed the D pad button and used a small hacksaw to cut it up into 4 seperate buttons. Putting it back together was a bit more difficult because I didn't place the buttons in their original position which gave me some problems. I didn't think that would mather as much but for some reason it does. But after a few tries and placing the buttons in the exact same place (as they were when it was still 1 button) it worked fine. No more input errors, when I push up or down it doesn't go left or right anymore, like it should be in the first place! There is a small downside though, the buttons rattle a bit now. But I can live with that. Thanks for the instruction video, you deserved a like! 👍🏻
I have just received my order today and the d-pad rubber that I've received was identical to the one the PS5 controller already had. Also: - I did not receive that little dome piece from 08:31; - The two silver screws holding the “white trimming” are no longer in the new chassis controller 06:22, and the Options and Share buttons will fall if you turn the controller; Other than that it was very fun operating on my controllers. I will now try the new buttons on Mortal Kombat 1.
I am a long time Mortal Kombat fan and player and i had a problem with execution with ps4 dualshock, then i ordered your individual D pad buttons, changed them with help of video like this and it completely changed my MK experince. Things i appreciate about you guys is that you are not trying to sell us custom overpriced joysticks for FGC and try to ripp people off. Anyone in FGC can buy just the individual buttons and watch this video and do it by themselves. Much appreciated BBC and have nice holidays.
Just installed them! It's not that hard, and this video is still mostly current. You don't need the center glued piece anymore, and the top screws in the white part of the frame are also gone, so you can skip that step as well. Also, the rubber pad that comes with them now seems identical to the stock DualSense, which has been updated. One thing that's not in the video: the newer PS5 buttons have a notch in each that faces up towards L1/R1 since they're not symmetrical, so they sit flat against the contour of the controller. I've only just started testing them, but I can tell they're much more precise and you never get accidental diagonals unless you press them. They do, however, require precise inputs, since you may develop bad habits being able to "fudge" your motion inputs on a platter-style D-Pad that's all one piece. I noticed this doing a 2-in-1 DP > Lv3 super in SF6. I had to _make sure_ I did a full quarter circle on the first motion, as skipping forward in either part of the input will drop the super. In other words, ➡⬇↘👊⬇↘➡🦶 won't work, you must do ➡⬇↘➡👊⬇↘➡🦶, but that was less apparent until I switched to D-Buttons. All in all, I think they're gonna be awesome after getting used to them and becoming a bit more deliberate and clean with my motion inputs. I already no longer have to worry about getting DP from an accidental ↘ input while trying to do DR > 2HP, which is a huge win.
I noticed that to. Can’t fudge the input for DP so everything is precise. I have two PS5 controllers one with battle beaver dpad and the second I have the dpad I modified myself to separate up on dpad and the rest still attached to the middle dome. Keeps half circles and quarter circles intact and keeping up separate from accidentals.
@@Stuff-mu7li Interesting! That's a cool concept to avoid accidental jumps. I'm currently back to using the regular DualSense D-pad as I walk the road to Master with Akuma in SF6. With the D-buttons, due to my thumb placement, I found myself sticking to the ground after blocking low while facing right, failing to walk immediately, or "reacting" to overheads and jump-ins but not fully releasing down so I'd eat huge combos and lose matches. I may give the D-buttons a shot again in the future, but for now I re-installed the normal D-pad in my newer Dualsense, and I'm doing quite well with it now that it's starting to break in.
So I used this video to switch out the buttons on my dualsense and I noticed an issue. The buttons on the stock d-pad are actually a bit longer in length than the ones you guys provide which are molded after the ds4 dpad. If you inspect more closely you will see that the buttons you guys provide have a deeper curve and are more concave at the middle intersection point than the dualsense stock ones. The reason I noticed this was I noticed my thumb would get stuck at the intersection point of the dpad in the middle when I tried to do diagonal inputs. Which may not seem like a big issue but I realized as much as I practiced with it it still wasn’t giving me the results I was used to with the ds4 when I used the same button mod. Do you guys plan on remaking these buttons but molded specifically for dualsense?
Any idea when you guys might have remap chips available for the PS5 DS Controller? It appears that it might be mandatory to remove the rumbles in order to add rear buttons due to how big they are. Oh btw do you guys have a Discord server?
With your advice to make the dpad more tactile I took apart my ds4 and put the rubber bit from it into my dualsense. All dpad directions feel far more consistent now, the stock pad shoopy is bad juju.
Would it be possible that you guys could individualize, separate the original d pad buttons ? Keeping the crisp crystal clear loom would be great if possible.

this is my exact issue now, after alot of use your dpad will become lopsided, it will like to fall to one side, so if you pressed your button at the wrong side you'd press the wrong input i use my index finger to hold up as i run in apex so i can change my heals, but if i land my finger on a bad spot it'll open the grande menu and most likely be the end of me
Are these 100% same as for ds4 or are they specifically made for dualsense? Because I tried putting ones I have for ds4 in a dualsense and they didn't feel right, they're just a bit too small so they wiggle in there, and just a bit too short, so when you press them, center portion goes below controller surface

They lost the stickinesd from the back part and I don't really feel the need to buy more buttons when I already have 8 of them unless I can get them in different colors.
If a bought a PS5 battle beaver controller, and already have joystick drift after 3 months of having it, is taking a part a battle beavers controller gonna be about the same, or are there extra springs or any things I may lose?

In the future you guys should never use metal pry tools on plastic. It's very easy to do with plastic prytools that wont risk scratching as much as metal tools.
I can only get a response from the X button etc(directionals are fine) if I hold down the dpad at the bottom. Any ideas what that might be and the solution? Any help appreciated
Yeah they work, but not that great. They do rattle, but the little half-sphere that goes where the original buttons pivot at is too narrow, if it was a little bigger these would be great. If it's directly center none of the buttons have the right pressure, if it's moved slightly left or right diagonally, 2 of your buttons will feel awesome, even better than stock buttons, but then you have 2 unstable mushy buttons(and that's with a new Battle Beaver membrane). Now this is on the Dualsense controller in my experience, they may work better on dualshock 4. Either way I feel like the price for these is a little on the steep side, especially since shipping is not included. The buttons, a replacement membrane and cheapest shipping from Texas to North Carolina was over $30 in all.
I'm going to follow up my previous comment. I did install the buttons into a dualshock 4. They worked a little better, but I decided to add a couple of millimeters of double stick foam tape to the little pivot piece to add more pressure all around. It worked and I'm doing good in Celeste already, however it really sucks that it didn't work as well in my Dualsense, they heavy bastard just feels good in the hands.
Installed this on my Dual Sense about 6 months ago before Guilty Gear stive released. I've been using then for a while. Pros: They do help with inputs overall. Cons: As others have mentioned. The buttons do rattle. I don't know if its because I'm using the stock back pad. I didn't purchase theirs. They should just sell it with the buttons in my opinion. Since they rattle or feel loose, I Sometimes do press the wrong buttons when the fights get intense. Overall l believe they should revise this buttons. Maybe make them a bit more longer and stiffer. I'm ok with the concave.
Are the white ones a little bigger than the black ones so they can fit in the dual sense without rattling or are they the same size as the black ds4 ones?
To anyone out there installing these in a PS5 DualSense, they do help with fighting game inputs, but the trade off is that they rattle and make noise whenever the controller force feedback kicks in. There isn’t enough pressure from the D-pad membrane to provide a tight fit, so they just shake around. It’s frankly really annoying. I use my DualSense for more than just fighters so I may take the D-buttons back out and just live with the stock D-pad.
Is it really that bad? I just bought a Dualsense and it's driving me nuts how often I'm getting blown up because the dpad will register a 4 input as an 8, a 6 as 8, and even sometimes 4 as 6. Or only register one press.
@@paracetamolgirl7820 The force feedback rattle with the D-buttons is really bad (the new Matrix tech demo is downright comical), and as another commenter also noted the D-buttons aren't quite right for the DualSense, but they truly do help with inputs. I had particularly bad problems with 4 registering as 1 before installing the D-buttons. So it's really a trade off. If you can justify a second DualSense just for fighting games/others that use D-pad heavily it probably makes sense to mod one and then keep another original for other games.

Maybe better to install the same kind of D-pads that the DualShock 4 has. My DS4's has much more distinctive D-pad than my mushy DualSense. I'm not playing fighting games but I'm really disappointed with the DualSense.
Is the video outdated? My internals of the dual sense where completly different and i didnt need to disonnect the rumble ribbons at all but did and almost messed up my controller
Works good. But it’s not perfect. The buttons are a slightly different size than the originals. With a little force you can even get the buttons stuck against the case
Damn you guys, no PS5 buttons in stock. I do not wish to use the PS4 ones. These are a must have but I don't want to spend $50 on d-pad buttons. $20 for the PS4 ones and $25 when the PS5 ones are in stock. When did you guys go out of stock? Cause this is a must have mod.
[1:21 - 4:33] that's the one thing I Hate about PS controllers* all that just to get to the battery in case the battery is damaged or simply died where as any other controler either has AA baterys, external rechargeable battery's , or just simply weird. replacing external battery's are a hell of lot cheaper (especially rechargeable's) then buying a brand new $60 to $80 controller. and controllers that do the same* This is coming from an avid PlayStation User. I will be buying the PS5 controller because of the sweet tech and improved size and shape!
Why would you want a stiffer D button pad? Wouldn't that make circular motions more difficult? I don't understand that at all. Seems like there should also be an optional ultra-sensitive cushion for easy circular motions.

I had particularly bad problems with 4 registering as 1 before installing the D-buttons. So it's really a trade off. If you can justify a second DualSense just for fighting games/others that use D-pad heavily it probably makes sense to mod one and then keep another original for other games.
@@SlickDizzy Uggh. I don't have a PS5/I play on PC, so it's definitely not worth for me to invest ~$200 on hardware I only use for a few games. Might just repair and switch back to my old DS4 if that's the case.

Maybe better to install the same kind of D-pads that the DualShock 4 has. My DS4's has much more distinctive D-pad than my mushy DualSense. I'm not playing fighting games but I'm really disappointed with the DualSense.

Is the video outdated? My internals of the dual sense where completly different and i didnt need to disonnect the rumble ribbons at all but did and almost messed up my controller

Works good. But it’s not perfect. The buttons are a slightly different size than the originals. With a little force you can even get the buttons stuck against the case

Damn you guys, no PS5 buttons in stock. I do not wish to use the PS4 ones. These are a must have but I don't want to spend $50 on d-pad buttons. $20 for the PS4 ones and $25 when the PS5 ones are in stock. When did you guys go out of stock? Cause this is a must have mod.
[1:21 - 4:33] that's the one thing I Hate about PS controllers* all that just to get to the battery in case the battery is damaged or simply died where as any other controler either has AA baterys, external rechargeable battery's , or just simply weird. replacing external battery's are a hell of lot cheaper (especially rechargeable's) then buying a brand new $60 to $80 controller.

Why would you want a stiffer D button pad? Wouldn't that make circular motions more difficult? I don't understand that at all. Seems like there should also be an optional ultra-sensitive cushion for easy circular motions.
