I don't think it's a good test to see if the rear wheels spin with all 4 wheels in the air. It takes very little oil pressure that way. Drive the car. Aside from that, excellent video!

Actually, I pressed my foot (I know not the safest thing to do) on the moving wheels which then caused more pressure to be applied to the wheels with less pressure. It works, things started moving immediately. I did not show me doing that in the video though.

Why didnt you show a before, with only the front wheels turning? Even if your haldex is scewed, in the air, with no load, your rear wheels will still turn.

Hey. I wanted to give you a small advice. I saw in the video that your SW Version of the Haldex ECU is 7082. I had a problem with that version which resulted in a failed control of the pump and therefore no AWD. That's a known bug in this Version. There are 2 new versions available: 7083 or 7084. They work much better. (I also thought it was a problem of mud, but cleaning didn't help me.)

Thanks for letting me know. I guess I got lucky so far. It's working great again. I'll keep that in mind.

So how did it work out? How was the road test and are you still spinning out in the front? I would guess by the amount of the material in your pump and screen that your haldex clutch plates are almost toast and that they aren't holding like they should. I recently bought a used 2015 rear end that had a haldex as dirty as yours and the haldex couldn't hold shit. I swapped in a used 2016 haldex in the 2015 rearend and it holds way way better but I'm still getting a lot of front wheel spin now. I put a haldex tune on it and it still is spinning way to much but the back is definitely pushing harder. That damn haldex new is like $1800.

No more spinning. It works again.

Glad you got it working again! Had you ever serviced it before or was this your first time? Also, where did you buy the kit to replace those o-ring gaskets? If you've got a link, that would be great. Very helpful video!

Yes, this was the first time and probably should have done it earlier. If I could go back in time. I would have done it at 15K miles. The way I drive. ;)

Did you have any metal shavings when draining the old oil?

    • @tranjen

Yes, the kind that looks like to one's captured on an magnetic oil drain plug. Nothing like huge chunks of metal. More like very fine sand.

It's unreal how many people have problems with this AWD system,it's really turned me off VW. No Golf R for me anymore.

I wouldn't be to worried. Our RS3 has (generally) the same system and it's rock solid. I think the MK7 2015 model diff was a little bit of a lemon.
