    Paul, some guys on the U.K. R forum have noticed a build up of detritus on the white nylon filter. It looks almost like frogspawn! According to VW tech guys there is NO filter to clean! I had the Haldex unit on my 2014 Golf R serviced by an independent VW garage here in the U.K. I specifically asked them to clean the nylon filter when servicing the unit.

    • @TsLeng
      @TsLeng 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same for my Skoda. I had to specifically take it to an independent garage for that. Dealers won't do it and I don't trust them to do it anyway even if they say they will.

    Very informative video. Why not warm the oil first to mid range then when you fill it you will know you have the correct amount when it overflows? Regards Stephen

    The AWD clutch service interval for 2019 Alltrack is 3 years - time-based, not mileage-based fyi. The dealers use the 30k interval to upsell. Same with brake fluid - time-based at 2 years.

    Good reccomendation on removing the wiring from the pump. What is the deal with the braided ground wire around the wiring? Mine basically disintegrated.

  • @GrasshopperGardenServicescouk

    I guess you need the car level when doing this so you get correct amount of fluid. I will not be using a ramp so should I jack front and clear of car up

    Why does the owners manual say nothing about this or the diff or the transfer case? Only talks about engine oil, transmission 100k, and radiator fluid. Is all this other stuff actually necessary?

    Hi Paul, any tips for what to do when the hex on the fill plug gets stripped? That's what I have run into - I am glad I heeded your suggestion for removing that before the drain plug. It does not seem like there is enough clearance to use an EZ-out or to cut slots into the fill plug and turn it with a big flathead screwdriver. I am hoping there is enough room to get a bite with a pair of Vise Grips and apply torque that way.

    Thanks for this video. I did this last week on my MK7 R and would have killed for this fluid pump as I made a mess with my shitty generic pump. I was surprised at 55k miles my screen was pristine and I know it's never been cleaned before. I live in the WNC mountains and drive pretty spiritedly.
    I will definitely buy this tool for the next service as it is a very reasonable price from Shop DAP.
    I wasn't sure of the torque specs on the Haldex Pump and did 15Nm instead of 9.5Nm. It did feel a bit too tight at the time, would you recommend loosening/replacing the bolts or is that difference not too worrisome?

    • @nickyang1703
      @nickyang1703 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      15Nm is fine, do not replace the bolts in case O-ring get cut

    Should take around 750ml in total.
    No need to disconnect pump wiring. The pump can be removed with the plug still connected.
    I think the more you use the 4wd the cleaner the pump screen. Drive like a granny and your pump will be clogged. Drive like you stole it and it won’t be as bad.
    That syringe pump is some bit of kit

    • @matth8311
      @matth8311 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +1 on disconnecting the pump wiring. If you want to completely remove the pump from that area of the car, you'll need to remove the wiring, but otherwise you'll be able to clean the mesh with the wiring connected.
      -1 on the cleanliness of the pump screen. From a logical perspective that makes no sense at all. If you drive it like a granny, the clutches will rarely engage, and therefore will not dirty up the oil. If you drive it like you stole it and engage 4WD regularly, the wear of the clutches will dirty up the oil and clog the pump screen up more.
      One other note - if you're doing this on jackstands, you need to make sure the car is level, otherwise you may under- or over-fill the haldex system.

      Matt H I never raced / tracked my car and the filter was blocked at around 15,000 miles.
      Have a look at Bryce’s video on his haldex service (th-cam.com/video/M5Jp9XnRx4g/w-d-xo.html). He races his car and his filter looked like mine after I cleaned it 😂

      That should be fine. However you will need something like an OBDeleven to run the pump, so why not just read the built in sensor since you're already in there?

  • @vproduction

    Drain plug 32Nm wtf.. its a bloody M10 bolt with fine threads. Ur gonna strip! I put fill bolt 12NM and drain 15NM. No problem whatsoever. The trick is the cut/break off the crush washer and replace with a new one. New washer won't lock onto the bolt but as long as outside diameter is about same as bolt head (16mm) and ur good. 15NM on drain bolt on my Haldex. Front and rear diff no leaks
    New crush washer is the key I get a pack of assorted copper washers as its hard to get those bolts with washer on it from dealer they often out stock and not very keen on ordering for you to make $2
