    Thanks! Explains why my third camera was dropping out on Multicam and it messed up my video when I was cutting and saving one video to the iPad and additionally recording it to each camera’s card.

      I have had some success by cranking my latency setting all the way to high AND ethernet connecting my iPad to my mobile hotspot to use Multicam's Access Point Mode. But if you can get the router setup it really is better.

    Thanks Jason, I'm really appreciating these short and to the point videos. Everything you say makes sense, but I had not thought about it this way before.
    You have a great equipment list in the description, but can you tell me about your USB-C to Ethernet cable adapter in the back of the Mevo ? I can't afford the official model, and a cheap one I bought from Amazon doesn't seem to work. What are you using ?

    Hi Jason, good report as this is exactly what I have been describing to you. For a local network I use a Netgear router having WiFi 6 and have no issue with 6 Start cameras and an Android tablet. I also use 2 tuned auxiliary 18 db antennas with the router on a stand 15 feet up. I have never had great success with a Type-C to ip adapter so I use a black-box solution. I use a standard V-mount battery with a splitter output to power the router, tablet, interface and WiFi device.
    What are your Speed-Test results with your system at the WiFi router and at the MyFi?
    I wrote you about making up a lens adapter or making me another 6 lens caps!

    • @JasonHoffmanYT
      @JasonHoffmanYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the info about the lens adapter, sorry I haven't gotten back on that project yet. Speed test results are consistent with what they are coming out of the MiFi. Which is consistently better than what my iPhone or iPad give me. Your setup is more advanced than mine and likely even more reliable. Thanks for your help!

      @@JasonHoffmanYT I am working on some rain protection both the simple and the more complicated! I streamed a memorial and it was snowing. The Mevo cameras loved the cold though. I am using 20,000 Mah batteries (PowerAid brand that have 18watt discharge rate) in pouches hung on whatever I use to mount them (stand, camp, clip or magnet) just to be sure I don't get caught short. These feed both the cameras and the cheap RC tilt/pan heads I keep under them for basic positioning.I like to have things streaming so that when the party arrives at the memorial you can see everything and the pan/tilt head give me a chance to do basic re-aiming on-the-fly. This should work for weddings too and will be great for catholic ceremonies' where one cannot go in the sanctuary.
      I have aMevo production question for you; are you able to play out a music track and mix it into your stream on the iPad somehow? I am trying to figure out a simple way to do this instead of having to have a small mixer feeding one of the cameras. My system is complicated enough as it is! Thanks and keep up the good work...

    Thanks for this video! This answers all my questions from the last video's comment! A quick question: why not use a sim card router and plug in a sim card instead of using the mifi. It would eliminate the need to plug the mifi into the router.

    We are going to use only 1 camera for games. Do you suggest using a mifi and router? Just a mifi? Or is my phone service good enough?

    • @JasonHoffmanYT
      @JasonHoffmanYT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would do a game with just your phone and see what kind of quality you have. If its not enough or if there are places you will play you know will have poor service add the mifi. If you can swing it, get the mifi on ‘the other’ carrier from what you already have and bond(combine) them with Speedify on your phone. With one camera you wont need the router.

    Is there a way to charge the mifi or mevo while using the ethernet adapters? Can you do Power over Ethernet to USB-C?

    • @JasonHoffmanYT

      Mevo sells a POE to run both power and data thru the usb-c port.

    You can get a step up cable that can take a 5V and step it up to a 12v and then use a typical battery pack instead of an inverter battery back.
    Also, we should talk about SRT. If you really want a stable awesome mobile stream, RTMP is not the way to go. SRT, using HEVC is the way to go. You get twice the quality for the same bandwidth (or, better yet, the same quality for half the upload speed) and significantly less dropped packets.

    • @JasonHoffmanYT
      @JasonHoffmanYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn’t know about the step up cable, thanks! I’ve been reading up on SRT and when media platforms begin accepting it as live streams it will drastically change what we are able to do! But I don’t know of any allowing it yet.

    • @erikpaullive
      @erikpaullive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonHoffmanYT they don't. That's why I use a small encoder and send the stream to my home computer. From there, I send to SLHD (and potentially also to GC). I have my cell phone connected to my home network via VPN and I have the mobile web socket OBS app on my phone so I can start/stop the stream. I can also preview what is happening on OBS in the app.
      That allows me to send the signal 3.5 mbps, which is easy to achieve anywhere, and then send 6.5 mbps to SLHD RTMP (which is a similar quality using that bitrate). I guess I could dual output to multiple destinations, too, as the home has plenty of upload speed. Also, with obs, you could create multiple scenes that have highlight videos or walk up highlight videos that you could play during the walk up, simply by pressing a button on your phone. Same for instant replay.

    Now the way I have things set up is I’m going to set my ethernet from my Mevo boost to my Netgear nighthawk MR 1100 does that work similarly or do I need a stronger router. Because I also got a Netgear cellular antenna that’s coming

    • @JasonHoffmanYT
      @JasonHoffmanYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you get to the nighthawk you are dependent on the cellular bandwidth and signal. The antenna can help but I don’t know that another router would get you more.
