For me it was the shiny Gamestop Suicune. There weren't Pokémon there, but I saw the Pokémon White movie premiere in theaters and that's it. I missed so much 😭
Also I can't help but notice: You mentioned that you guys recreated all these distribution roms from the MEW distribution. It's funny because just as Mew being the progenitor of all pokémon, it's distribution rom became the progenitor of all the other distribution roms. Amazing!
This is simply wonderful! A great way to relive a cherished childhood memory. When I went to the Pokémon 10th anniversary event, coincidentally there wasn’t a line for the celebi distribution. And the lady running the booth gave me extra celibis. I still have all of them. I’m sure it wasn’t particularly meaningful to her, but it was so exciting for me as a child.

i was able to get a mystery mew as a kid. it was one of my coolest memories, lining up in a toys r us for the original rarest pokemon. i treasured my mew like a holy grail, still have it
dang i wonder how? all the games i have that are that old if i still have them the save battery is dead, have you been live swapping the battery every 5 or 10 years?
@@nightmarerex2035 The battery is only used for clock based events in gen 3 pokemon games, nothing else. Saves are written to non-volatile memory. Only a handful of GBA games use a battery for storing save files in SRAM instead of flash memory.
This is honestly a really incredible moment for me. I remember being a kid in the early days of Gen 4, unable to get people to believe that my cool Machamp and Cradily were real event Pokemon because there was no documentation of them online. Then in the early 2010s, there was finally enough information uncovered to prove they were real events, and I felt vindicated. Then a couple years later I was contacted by event preservationists about my PCNY events, and of course I was happy to help them. And now we're here. The event community has come together to not only preserve those event Pokemon still in existence, but make faithful recreations so everyone else can enjoy them too. Aside from being a Pokemon fan, I'm incredibly passionate about media preservation to the point that I once wanted to become an archivist professionally. So being able to see this happen is just really special.
Gen 3 brings back so many special memories for me. Being my first proper generation I had as a kid. Seeing this and the previous event video it brings a tear to my eye. 😢 Keep up the good work with whatever it is you decide to work on next.
Whoa! I can finally get a 10th anniversary Celebi! I went to the event and stood in line, and the kid in front of me got a Celebi and then they said they were closing for the day.

I was only able to attend the Jirachi and shiny Raikou events for HGSS and BW respectively. I was too young or didn’t know about the others. Thankfully, I was able to buy a distribution cart for the Deoxys and 10th Anniversary events for all the GBA games. It’s still so cool how the distribution events happened in the days before the internet!
Seriously the people who've worked so hard to bring back these old events, not just for the gen 3 games, but also the DNS trick for gen 4 and 5, are truly doing the lords work. Massive respect

You have made me ridiculously happy. Emerald was my first Pokemon game, and I didn’t know anything about Pokemon events back then. Only later did I learn that event Pokemon were a thing and of course it was too late. I’ve always wanted to do a Living Dex in Gen III - I own all the GBA games and Colo and XD. But of course I would always be short the handful of mythicals. And I don’t believe in cheating as a way to get them. So the fact that I can basically legitimately get these event mons now is so cool!! Also, you’ve convinced me to buy a Japanese copy of Emerald (something I’ve wanted to do for awhile) just so I can get the Japanese event Pokemon too. Thank you so much for your hard work!

Fun fact that almost nobody knows. The Space Center Deoxys distribution could also distribute the 10th Anniversary Celebi. Being nosy and watching the screen while they were giving me deoxys paid off big time for me 17 years ago, as well as everyone else in line behind me.
This is such a cool project! I never got to attend any of these events, but I DID have a friend who owned the Colosseum bonus disc and let me get the Wishmaker Jirachi from it. I still have the Jirachi, though unfortunately it's no longer holding the berry, lol.
It's people like you that make the Pokemon community so fantastic! These events will now be preserved forvever thanks to you! I just wanted to point out one small bug though. I tried distributing PCNY Pokemon to my ruby save file, and the event works like a charm; but after i receive the Pokemon, the pokedex is not getting properly updated. It says that Jirachi was caught, instead of cradily. I am working on an emulator, so i don't know whether that's causing the problem. Any help will be appreciated:) Once again thank you so much for preserving these lesser known gen 3 events!
@@MaxRavenclawI used mGBA on windows too. Make sure that you open the distribution rom in the first instance. Another thing, I noticed that mgba needs two different save files in the directory of the roms..one is the .sav file and the other is the .sa1/.sa2 file. Make sure you have both of those. If the problem persists, then just use vba link- it's way smoother.
@@evanreid7400 If you got the money, I'd suggest EzFlash Omega Definitive Edition. It also has a feature to activate "slot 2 features" on DS games that have those bonuses.
Slight heads up, a good chunk of these are already available online for free. Only iirc Mew and the Johto Box pokemon require more questionable means(but still trigger the event flags and show up as an unmodified cartridge) Though, recreation of Mew and the Johto duo is certainly very nice to have.
I love this. I was going to make a save file with every event Pokémon from gen 3 but this is so much better. I'm gonna play third gen with friends to complete the Pokédex, but I wanted as weel to get as many events as possible to make true my childhood dreams. If you need help for similar projects in the future I will do whatever is in my power. I do have some experience in coding so this is so entertaining. At the moment I'm completing my journey in first gen and pretty soon I will start with crystal and stadium 2.

This is AWESOME! I attended the 10th anniversary event as a kid, transferred the top 10 and Celebi up to Pokemon Black which at one point I reset and lost all these event exclusives. My GBA flash cart is waiting for me when I get home!
I still have my original Emerald and the only Pokemon 4 Pokemon missing from my Dex are Meww, Celebi, Lugia and Ho-oh. Even managed to trade a channel Jirachy and a Deoxys but never met anyone with those 4. This video made me go back and try to get them. I only own 1 Gameboy Advance and 1 wireless dongle so i might try to emulate the Distribution device, using your distro ROM and one of the Raspberry PI or Arduinos I have around

I know your channel has mostly been focused on the gen 3 gsmes (and a bit of gen 2), but do you think one day you might look into somilar things for the gen 4 or 5 games? Id love to see things like this done for the games i grew up with, even if i probably wont be able to get it myself (at least in the near future)
The fan-hosted servers for gens 4 and 5 already allow access to all the event distributions from that period, though obviously the gen 4 ones are limited by needing WEP or unsecured Wi-Fi to access the internet.

When you talk about what multiboot is and how it works, I can't help but be reminded of DS Download Play. Funnily enough, despite both of these methods usually just sending a program from one console to the other, with no cartridge necessary in the receiving console, both of these protocols have used programs where the receiving console's program is required to interface with the save data of a Pokemon game (for multiboot, it's to give the event Pokemon to a gen 3 game, for DS Download Play, it's to run the Poke Transfer program to transfer Pokemon from a gen 4 game to a gen 5 game). You could say tha multiboot is a predecessor of DS Download Play - or more accurately, DS Download Play is a successor to (or just rebranded version of) multiboot!
Yes it does! For example, if you wanted SPACEC Deoxys, just connect your game like normal and it’ll send over the Pokémon to your game! The only thing that doesn’t work is Japanese events to international copies
There is a thread on Digix, where it is explained how to use an R4 flash card and a Nintendo DS to get the ticket distributions. Does this also work in such a way or is it necessary to do it with two GBA? EDIT: I saw that you replied to the same question already. Too bad it is not possible...

On another note....i fear i may sound entitled by even asking but....WHERE IS THE UPDATE ON THE HARDWARE?!?!? I am frothing at the mouth waiting for an update on the board for moving gen 2 to gen 3 and im dying to get my grubby little mitts on one. 😅
Recently, I've been working on completing the National PokeDex in Pokémon Platinum (something I gave up years ago, but has now picked back up), and the two big thorns in my side regarding completion is how I'm going to obtain a Mew and Celebi, so, maybe I'll have to resort to this method? But I'm not entirely sure if Pokémon received through these recreated distributions can migrate to the DS games.

You have made me ridiculously happy. Emerald was my first Pokemon game, and I didn’t know anything about Pokemon events back then. Only later did I learn that event Pokemon were a thing and of course it was too late.
I’ve always wanted to do a Living Dex in Gen III - I own all the GBA games and Colo and XD. But of course I would always be short the handful of mythicals. And I don’t believe in cheating as a way to get them. So the fact that I can basically legitimately get these event mons now is so cool!!
Also, you’ve convinced me to buy a Japanese copy of Emerald (something I’ve wanted to do for awhile) just so I can get the Japanese event Pokemon too.

@yoshiwoollyworld I can’t really elaborate. It just doesn’t feel right to me. I don’t begrudge anyone that does cheat for a Living Dex, though. To each their own and all that
Fun fact that almost nobody knows. The Space Center Deoxys distribution could also distribute the 10th Anniversary Celebi. Being nosy and watching the screen while they were giving me deoxys paid off big time for me 17 years ago, as well as everyone else in line behind me.
the 10th anniversary celebi rom has never been dumped so this is legendary. glad i found it.
This is such a cool project! I never got to attend any of these events, but I DID have a friend who owned the Colosseum bonus disc and let me get the Wishmaker Jirachi from it. I still have the Jirachi, though unfortunately it's no longer holding the berry, lol.
It's people like you that make the Pokemon community so fantastic! These events will now be preserved forvever thanks to you!
I just wanted to point out one small bug though. I tried distributing PCNY Pokemon to my ruby save file, and the event works like a charm; but after i receive the Pokemon, the pokedex is not getting properly updated. It says that Jirachi was caught, instead of cradily. I am working on an emulator, so i don't know whether that's causing the problem. Any help will be appreciated:) Once again thank you so much for preserving these lesser known gen 3 events!

What emulator did you use? I'm trying to get it to work on mGBA on Windows and I'm having trouble.
@@MaxRavenclawI used mGBA on windows too. Make sure that you open the distribution rom in the first instance. Another thing, I noticed that mgba needs two different save files in the directory of the roms..one is the .sav file and the other is the .sa1/.sa2 file. Make sure you have both of those. If the problem persists, then just use vba link- it's way smoother.

@@evanreid7400 If you got the money, I'd suggest EzFlash Omega Definitive Edition. It also has a feature to activate "slot 2 features" on DS games that have those bonuses.
So then you would download all the files onto an SD card and that's it? Or would it only allow one at a time?
@@evanreid7400 Yes, but slot 2 feature requires you to put the roms one at a time using "write to NOR" feature.
Slight heads up, a good chunk of these are already available online for free.
Only iirc Mew and the Johto Box pokemon require more questionable means(but still trigger the event flags and show up as an unmodified cartridge)
Though, recreation of Mew and the Johto duo is certainly very nice to have.
I love this. I was going to make a save file with every event Pokémon from gen 3 but this is so much better.
I'm gonna play third gen with friends to complete the Pokédex, but I wanted as weel to get as many events as possible to make true my childhood dreams. If you need help for similar projects in the future I will do whatever is in my power. I do have some experience in coding so this is so entertaining. At the moment I'm completing my journey in first gen and pretty soon I will start with crystal and stadium 2.

This is AWESOME! I attended the 10th anniversary event as a kid, transferred the top 10 and Celebi up to Pokemon Black which at one point I reset and lost all these event exclusives. My GBA flash cart is waiting for me when I get home!

I still have my original Emerald and the only Pokemon 4 Pokemon missing from my Dex are Meww, Celebi, Lugia and Ho-oh.
Even managed to trade a channel Jirachy and a Deoxys but never met anyone with those 4.
This video made me go back and try to get them.
I only own 1 Gameboy Advance and 1 wireless dongle so i might try to emulate the Distribution device, using your distro ROM and one of the Raspberry PI or Arduinos I have around

I know your channel has mostly been focused on the gen 3 gsmes (and a bit of gen 2), but do you think one day you might look into somilar things for the gen 4 or 5 games? Id love to see things like this done for the games i grew up with, even if i probably wont be able to get it myself (at least in the near future)
The fan-hosted servers for gens 4 and 5 already allow access to all the event distributions from that period, though obviously the gen 4 ones are limited by needing WEP or unsecured Wi-Fi to access the internet.
I definitely plan to make distributions roms for gen4 and other gens as well in the future!

When you talk about what multiboot is and how it works, I can't help but be reminded of DS Download Play. Funnily enough, despite both of these methods usually just sending a program from one console to the other, with no cartridge necessary in the receiving console, both of these protocols have used programs where the receiving console's program is required to interface with the save data of a Pokemon game (for multiboot, it's to give the event Pokemon to a gen 3 game, for DS Download Play, it's to run the Poke Transfer program to transfer Pokemon from a gen 4 game to a gen 5 game). You could say tha multiboot is a predecessor of DS Download Play - or more accurately, DS Download Play is a successor to (or just rebranded version of) multiboot!

What you did is beyond words! I was wondering, does this work on versions other than english and japanese? Like for italian cartridges?
Yes it does! For example, if you wanted SPACEC Deoxys, just connect your game like normal and it’ll send over the Pokémon to your game! The only thing that doesn’t work is Japanese events to international copies
There is a thread on Digix, where it is explained how to use an R4 flash card and a Nintendo DS to get the ticket distributions. Does this also work in such a way or is it necessary to do it with two GBA?

This is incredible! The work you have put in is insane to be able to make this happen. Im totally going to be using this. On another note....i fear i may sound entitled by even asking but....WHERE IS THE UPDATE ON THE HARDWARE?!?!? I am frothing at the mouth waiting for an update on the board for moving gen 2 to gen 3 and im dying to get my grubby little mitts on one. 😅

Recently, I've been working on completing the National PokeDex in Pokémon Platinum (something I gave up years ago, but has now picked back up), and the two big thorns in my side regarding completion is how I'm going to obtain a Mew and Celebi, so, maybe I'll have to resort to this method? But I'm not entirely sure if Pokémon received through these recreated distributions can migrate to the DS games.
