Nobody Should Own This Pokémon Cartridge

- There are many weird Pokémon cartridges out there, I'm always on the lookout, and I stumbled upon one that probably shouldn't exist. A reproduction copy of a cart that can potentially send infinite event Pokémon to my game + more?!

I worked at GameStop for 10 years. We always got in those Pokemon distribution carts. We were told to hang onto the old distribution carts for when our Pokemon rep came in to get them. He never did. We had like a dozen of them in the drawer for years. Now I wish I had snatched them up.
Wow such a missed opportunity I’m sorry to hear this bc Im sure we all would love to get hands on these. So rare.. still super cool you worked around them and can shine light on their official use. Edit: I realized you can just order them online from like AliExpress and other such stores and I’m getting a few different ones
Why did you more than one?
I hope all those ROMs were eventually dumped by someone.
Lol I worked at GameStop for 3 years and I took every single thing home that we couldn't buy from people like fake games/ consoles with our cords lmao I have so much crap from back then. People would bring in all kinds of stuff that we couldn't take so I would offer them cash upfront. Good times I worked the midnight release for Skyrim lmao
@@socommasterDid you not watch the video? This only works for one game.
Ha I went to a '10ANNIV' event when I was /very/ young, it was at a theme park in Europe. I could choose 3 pokemon from the list to transfer to my game because I had a subscription to some magazine. Regular visitors could only pick one. So to answer your question in the video, no we did not get all of them.
We actually had to write down on a form/paper which ones we wanted and all our address details, as they would take our cartridge, take it to Nintendo who would put the pokemon on the games maybe in the same way as you are doing in the video and they would then ship it back to us. We did not get these Pokemon right away or on location. Because I was a child with shitty handwriting I actually had never gotten it back until I called the Nintendo helpdesk and they were able to locate my game at their office! The person on the phone told me they could not read my address 😂 They shipped me the game back after the call and it all ended well. I still have all these Pokemon and transferred them to Pokemon HOME.
Gardaland?
@@nostalgiatrip1119 No, slagharen Netherlands!
When I went I got a pokemon on my game a pin and shadow Lugia trading jumbo card
Bro that is amazing!
I remember wanting to go to pokemon day in Walibi, but it was too expensive 😭
Tering, dat is lang geleden
I am scared to think about just how much money this cart would be worth if it were authentic.
It probably is a real one, just not the original enclosure. My bet is that the PCB is real, but the original enclosure could have been damaged, so a new one got 3D printed (as the sound of the plastic itself sounds like 3D printed)
@@EternalxFrostYou can find newly injection moulded GBA cartridge shells online. Presumably they use different quality plastic so it would sound different.
@@EternalxFrost It is not. You can find ROMs for every distribution online; many of them are ripped straight from the original event cardrodges while some were remade from the aurora ticket cardridge. There is even a video on TH-cam showing how they have done it. These event Pokémon are completely legal; the cartridge, however, isn't. But There are some real ones out There Like the aurora ticket :)
@@EternalxFrostThat GBA multi-game selection screen at boot makes me think otherwise
It would've been worth 1,500,000 doll hairs.
This was real event happend back in the day. i could remember when there was a waiting queue for around 5 hours in a amusement park in the netherlands. because the amount of people that came to the event alot of people couldnt even recieve there event pokemon. it was wild.
Avonturenpark hellendoorn in 06??
I'm pretty sure you could mail your cartridges in too
I didn't recall fire red/leaf green had a little recap animation when you resume your playthrough. Man, pokemon games were so full of detail before
7:30 A reason the Latis and dogs were distributed were due to them being roamers in game, said roamers in gen 3 have IV issues (bar hp) a capacity of 7 in attack (none of them use that stat in gen 3) and 0 in the rest.
this is not the case for the Eon Island Latis, nor the Colosseum dogs.
didn’t the dog trio also have a bug that caused them to completely disappear after they run away the first time?
Only if they use the move roar, which only Entei and Raikou had.
Not sure about other fleeing moves or items
i've used this rom on a flashcard before. you don't need to be in a pokemon center. so you can use this to escape trap situations.
Where did you find this rom
how did u do this? ive been looking for 10ANNIV suicine for YEARS since my brother lost his😢🥺
@@mannypineiro127 google might know
@@mannypineiro127 Just search "Pokemon Event 10th Anniversary Distribution rom"
Recently I’ve been really invested in the gen 3 games (including the gamecube ones) and just want to say great video hope to see more like this in the future.
Thank you! I'll always have a soft spot for gen 3
Played all of them a while back and it was my second time with Gen 3. Probably a top 3 generation.
Im pretty sure the start + select at boot was the official way event carts sent you event mons in gen 3 to. (Purely based on my memory of said events as a small child.)
Yeah, it's some weird mode, where it can receive data via link cable. It can for example be used to enter the wireless adapter menu with a game inserted, or to play the single card multi-player games with a card inserted.
The event I went to with a distribution didn't let us do this through, instead they took our game for a moment, transfered the pokemon, then gave us the card back.
Definitely wanna see part 2. Also wanna see you sending those into Pokémon HOME.
Im pretty sure that's what he meant by saying "sending them to scarlet and violet or sword and shield."
Yes
Same
Works like a charm because those Pokemon are "legit". Not obtained through legitimate ways, but they are legit and you can transfer them to Pokemon HOME and other games (that support those Pokemon) no problem.
I once peeled the sticker off my Pac Man Gameboy cartridge as a kid and tried using it to blow my nose. Have no idea why but back then I really didn't know any better🤣
Yep, I have the ROMs on my everdrive mini. Glad we can preserve events like this. Pretty sure you can buy e-reader reprints for the in game events. You just need to buy an e-reader
What's funny is that all of the e-reader content is fully translated in the game even though we didn't officially get it in the west.
@@LockedPotatoYeah Nintendo declared it a failure before all the cards were made available in America and never brought e reader to eu
Hey man! This is perfect timing as i just received my event Celebi cartridge yesterday, and the first video i watched on the topic was yours! I'd love to see more content like this in the future! For instance the Jirachi and Celebi bonus discs on the GameCube! In tbe meantime keep up the great work!
So exactly how in the hell can I get one of those cartridges?
*cough* Aliexpress
Latios has fainted. "ah shit gotta pull out the other gameboy" A new Pokémon has arrived!
And now a shiny hunt for all of them
Have you tried the different languages to see if that is why is 140 pokemon.
That or different tempers are considered as different Pokemon.
Can you make a dump of the cartridge files?
This is just a flash cart running the official ROM dump, I’ve used it in mGBA.
I love stuff like this as it breathes new life into these older pokemon games!
I went to the toys r us mew event distribution for the 10th anniversary and it was amazing. I have the guide books and poke dex books with the 10th anniversary artwork on it. I remember these animations when we got the pokemon
So did I
GBA operator can also give events to gba games. You need extra software but you can also backup your saves to your pc
You can also do that with any dual-slot DS (DS/DS Lite) and a DS flashcart (ex. R4).
I have the GBA operator and would like to know how to do this.
@@Argonisgemawc3tool. youtuber has vids with gb operator. u save the file then upload it to the tool then pick event. also u can modify the save with pkhex and reupload to the cart. wc3tool doesnt have all the events. but you can make the pokemon in pkhex. honestly the thing shown is vid is cool. im curious if pkhex would verify. it usually does but im not sure
What do you load up on the r4 to do that?@@Quonoa
@@Johntriger GBA Backup Tool (which is a ds homebrew you can run on flashcarts) lets you backup your save, and you can then run the event via emulators on a computer to get the event in your save.
Part 2!! I'm in the process of moving all my pokemon from Gen 3 and above to pokemon home. Great timing.
awesome video man, you should make a part 2
What I'm interested in seeing is the errors or failsafes with not following the directions properly. These events were made knowing that people would be waiting lined up waiting to get a Pokemon and would want things moving as fastly as possible, so I assume that most people understood and followed the instructions to keep things moving. Like for example, if you have a full party, and/or didn't save in a Pokémon center. Since Gen 3 doesn't have any true game-breaking language-compatibility issues I'd be surprised if this was the case, but I also want to see what happens if you use the other language ROMs to try and distribute to the English one.
I went to one of these events when I was young. We lined up and actually had to give the staff our games and fill in a form with our address details. They would put the pokemon on the games at a Nintendo office/location and they would then ship the game back. So we would be without it for a little while! This might not be the case for every event but I assume this was the safest way to do it back then for them, as they could take their time.
i went to this event in nyc 10 anniversary party and it was a super huge long line and the distribution took maybe a minute? 😮 it was super fast and just downloaded right onto our cartridge!
@@taebeebeeSome events had brought the necessary equipment to download the data but there were a few were they didn't bring it for various reasons
No mew or deoxys events. Thats what i bought mine for… to relive the past
Seeing a part 2 would be interesting
There might be more pokemon if you try scrolling down, then there might actually be 140.
there are. There are videos about this rom being made
@@orsonzedd Plus at some point, if you pay close attention it says 1/5 as if what we are looking at is page 1 out of 5. Each page has 10 pokemon so 5x10=150 which is indeed more than 140.
@@stixoimatizontas
5x10 =50. I take this back xD and apologise for saying it and not paying attention to the video :)
In each page there Is 5 options which Have 10 pokémons which Is 50 for single page just in different languages So 5x50 = 250 there Is.
Well guess we can all see who the idiot is here xD
Yep, event pokemon could have different natures, although IIRC there were several natures that couldn't be received for whatever reason.
“After all these years I finally get to fight- is that a legendary!!!” -bird keeper that evaded you
i would recommend putting a skin or case on your childhood gba, it will make it look like it was 5 years ago
I would like to see a Part 2 Please. Find more stuff like this Thanks.
I actually went to a 10ANNIV event way back when. I remember that there were two different lines for event Pokémon: one for a Celebi, and the other to select three out of ten Pokémon offered.
I remember that I got multiple Celebis because I brought a few games!
This can all be done for free with an e reader and special printer or through emulation(if you dont have an e reader). You can dump an emulated save and export it to a physical copy to transfer these mons up to Home. No need to buy repro copies. Imablisy has way better options for you to get these mons and there's so many more events that can be recreated or already have with e reader exploitation.
I was looking forward to this video
Definitely need a part two
I would like to see a part 2 :3
i also used to peel the stickers off the cartridges
i regretted it in the end that i used to print off the box art and tape them onto the cart xD
An authentic all-in-one cart would probably be the Pokemon equivalent of the One Ring.
Once I saw that some cartridges are actually limited in the amount of mons they can transfer (times, let's say), so, that might be what those +100 mean.
Sadly my leaf green and emerald got the old sticker delete
Man this is pretty cool :O
It would have been great indeed if it gave more then 10, but hey it’s something.
Imagine it distributing the actual events tho, I would love to go to the special locations on a real game!
Upload them these would be so damn helpful
3:38
You are not the only weirdo. My cousin and a friend would do the same in the past some 20 years ago. They still regret peeling the stickers to this day.
Do a part two please. I want to see if this would pass the Pokémon home checks and get it into Gen 9
When I was a kid, I picked off the leaf green and fire red stickers so I could write it with my own marker 😂🥲
I wonder how long it would take to fill up every box...
Probably about a couple hours, maybe 20 minutes per box
Probably about 3
It is 140 with nature's etc
you should probably try the other events on pages 2-5
Where do u get those
Save yourself money and buy an ever drive, find the rom files yourself and pop them on the everdrive. They work the same. I have the 10th anniversary pokemon, the lugia/ho oh events, the mew event, and the eon ticket event. All of them work for RSE, FR and LG
This would be an insane shiny hunt!!!
Part 2 my dude
Reminds me of a similar cartridge that I got off Aliexpress around Christmas, the "Pokemon Ultimate Event Distribution" cartridge for over $100. There are now bootlegs OF that bootleg available for around $30.
Mine is the 140+ one. Yours appears to just be the 10ANNIV event.
You're not the only weird one, I used to take the protective plastic off the front of the game after it used to sit in my pocket as I traveled the. Waited til the sticker got ruined then peeled off the Pokémon sticker.
And now we're waiting for you to post it on the archive 😉
The ROM has been public for years, I replied to a different comment with a post I found online 😎
Does it have the Spcae C Deoxys and 10th Annjv Celebi?
Where i can get this cartridges??
I still see a lot of people asking this- I mention in the vid that I won't be directly linking it as I don't want to create direct sales to a fake cartridge
take a screenshot and google search the image 😂
I've been able to get my hands on the dump roms of this event cart, and many more of those dump roms. I've setted up a pair of emulators, and all those mons are legit. You can also shiny hunt them through that distro event rom / cart, as there is a chance the actual dump generates a shiny.
To be able to transfer them though, you have to boot up the recieving GameBoy on alternate boot mode (I can't remember exactly how as I did it long ago) but I think you have to hold Select while you boot the GameBoy up. If the timing is right between the boot up on the recieving end and the actual Pokémon sending command on the donor cartridge, the transfer will occur.
Keep in mind it shoots it straight up in your party, so you have to clean your party in a box and only have one left. Otherwise it will tell you the transfer failed because it won't have a slot to dump it to, and will ask you to reboot, clean at least one slot in your party, and try again.
My guess with your cartridge is that the actual PCB is real, but for some reason the original '' owner '' 3D printed a case and a new sticker, I guess because the original enclosure of the PCB got damaged. (And I said original '' owner '' because we all know event cartridges normally should be returned to Nintendo Japan after the event ends to be destroyed).
No, this is a flashable GBA cartridge that has been loaded with all the event variations of the 10 ANNIV event
I'm pretty sure we were able to vote which Pokemon were featured for that event!
3:41 Thought about it once, and never again XD
"Im going to unplug it" Turns power off lol
Yo kevdog, love the vid!
Maybe the seller listed it as over 140 Pokémon because of the ability to get the Pokémon with different natures?
IT does actually Have probably that many there Are 5 pages if you look closely but He just looked at the First option.
I always do that with beer bottles. Idk why I just have to peel the labels
Where do I get that cartridge? It looks so cool
I've seen a pokemon distribution card very similar
If you have pokemon Home, it's a cool find. They are pretty interesting as they change the graphics and Stuff while within pokemon home.
I really wanna know if you're able to transfer them to newer games
Nice video, that was interesting for sure, anyways, keep it up!
Can you do a video to see if this works when transferring to a replica cartridge? My guess is it'll only work when sending to an authentic one and not to a ROM cart but it would be cool to see.
Can you do a pokemon home transfer test? Does the cart have Mew? :>
Unfortunately not, the mew event was not distributed outside Japan
The official old gba dis carts are sealed into a gba handheld so if its not in a gba with metal holding it then its a third party pluss u can get r4 carts and put the codes onto the r4
I attended a Pokemon Day in Europe and they handed out a Mew with this exact method
The edits r best part lol
I would like to see a pert 2!
I peeled off my leafgreen sticker regretted it ever since
Are there others for sale???
I NEED THAT!
@@piplupness Well, you know where I can find these ROMs? And last I checked, I don't have a GBA to USB cable.
What if you press R or L? It looks like the number in the bottom right is what page you’re on.
Fucking outrageous. Definitely need to visit another one
I DEMAND A PART 2 OF YOU TRANSFERING THEM TO NEWER GAMES!!!
Fine but only because you SCREAMED
I only peeled stickers off games if the sticker was already pretty damaged & ugly looking, but only if that game was easy to tell apart (which I think was pretty much just the pokemon games).
can you extract the rom from the cartridge?
does pokebank to home still work
Definitely peeled some stickers off back in the day...
Also engraved a cart or two...
And put a sticker onto the wrong cart on purpose...
I never peeled off the sticker but I had two ganes who were peeled. Funny enough it was pokemon firered and megaman battle network 5 team protoman
I think it means you can get one of every nature if you wanted to that's why it's saying 140 possibly. Idk I was just thinking.
10th Anniversary 2006 Journey across America event, I'd love to get that cartridge is there a link?
It's due that there is more than 10 because of the different languages, they got different Pokemon
did you forget to go to the other pages?
I’ve peeled my pokemon crystal cartridge when i was a kid
My battle set had rayquaza,groudon,meouwtu,blastoise
I have this cartridge. It actually came with a case with really cool box art. The case itself is a PAL version DS case which I found interesting. The event Pokémon were a real thing in 2006, but the cart is definitely not authentic.
@piplupness Yeah I'm aware of flash carts. But as someone who doesn't emulate this was a better option for me. It was $10 as opposed to a $50+ flash cart I would never use.
Back then I would've loved this. But now I mean I'm basic but with a game hack I can just get whatever Pokemon I want. And then there are those advanced hackers that can do that and give their Pokemon whatever move, level, stats and all of the above nowadays, it's crazy!
Just how do some people get these Pokémon event cartridges?
For authentic ones, I feel like it’s probably a “know the right guy” type of deal. You’d have to know someone who would work at a place like GameStop or ToysRUs to get access to one, without stealing
about 14 years ago, I helped cleaned out a play n trade, my dad knew the owner of the lot and he sure. So I got a a PC, a bunch of busted PS3s and X360s from it and so on.
I got a few busted DS's as well. Along these DS's I got a copy of a DS Demo game. Was one of the coolest things I ever had. No idea what happened to it.
Is that from M-
*gets sniped
I own two blue Gameboy advance sp's as well ❤
Anybody know if there is something similar to this to get the event to go past the seven islands and actually encounter the legends ??
Can i buy it? I collect these kind of stuff so can i or can u tell me who the sellers are
I wish I had that as a rom so i could put it on my everdrive x5
Mine doesnt work. It says please make sure you have an english version of gba pokemon game pak inserted. I selected english
Were did you find this at I want to get one
Watch the whole thing 😅
Maybe either try scrolling down more, or see how many different nature/stat combos there are? I feel like either one of these could "justify" the 140 claim.
There Are 5 pages but He was all this time on page 1 still if you look closely.
