A few important notes: - The values that Mike stated were from TCG Player's marketplace. We have a machine that will sort Pokemon cards and price them with TCG Player's market value. It's important to note that those values are not always in line with what the lowest available price is on TCG Player's website, nor with prices on eBay or other sites. Much like COMC, prices can vary on marketplaces with many copies available and bulk buys. - The prices I stated while ripping the boxes were from eBay. Of note and for ease, I valued most reverse holos at $0.50 and most holos at $0.50-$1.00 because that's how a shop or dealer would box them up. Some may be cheaper or more expensive, but I wasn't going to directly comp a hundred cards to be precise to the penny. - It can definitely be difficult if not impossible to sell cards
Pokemon don't get injured or not meet expectations, so thats a big plus. There is a lot of set collecting so even the cheapest shorter printed cards have a couple of dollars value long term. There are a lot of lesser # of cards overall, so if the market deems the "Magikarp" as the card to get, everyone will want it driving the prices through the roof. While in sports, every player has like a hundred different rookie cards not even counting the color variations. The Pokemon brand won't ever go away at this point, but there is always a possibility of some retraction years down the road.
Yes, we need 4 of each Pokémon card and well 0 of any of the sports cards so there is that. Also, people with astigmatism have a hard time reading the holo versions so base is targeted for them. In sports the parallels have gotten so out of hand it has inadvertently made the base cards useless. I believe that is the real problem we currently face.
This was great. I actually do a mix of baseball, pokemon and magic so seeing a video comparing TCGs to sports was awesome. If you’re after Charizard, the I suggest Obsidian Flames. Zards literally fly out of the boxes.
Soo glad you did this video!.. I’m in that conundrum of buying small hobby boxes for myself or a bunch of Pokemon ETB’s to rip with my kids… I definitely get more excited ripping w/kids.. even tho at one point in ur video- I feel like you challenged my masculinity compared to MLB Rips 😂.. Two things Kids can chase charter boxes for their favorite Pokemon.. but hobby boxes rarely can you go buy boxes for your favorite teams, Second you can probably yield greater gains if you buy Pokemon boxes and leave them sealed to flip… I’ve seen boxes triple value in 6 months.. I’m really curious if an unopened Wemby Rookie yr box would be more then a 151 Pokemon in the next yr 🧐
Hi! I just found your channel and am really enjoying your content. I was hoping you could please do some more videos opening HOCKEY packs. You mentioned that other people had asked in one of your recent videos. I am just adding another vote for more hockey!!
T pot I think your best value by far will come from a box of 2023 or 2024 Topps chrome Disney. Even all the base cards are collectible with good value. It’s Disney
I haven't been into Pokemon since the late 90s when I collected the cards and played Pokemon red/blue/yellow on gameboy. That 151 set would interest me as I actually know the Pokemon. Some of the more recent Pokemon just sound made up and look strange to me. The original 151 are still the best and are very nostalgic to see.
The average collector isn't selling anything Pokémon regular holo and down for more than like 10c a card at best. I know you were adding them in your calculations with your comment below also.
Bin collecting since late 70s and this sports card hobby is up and down to much never stable and bin watching tcg for last ten and I can tell you that tcg market is way more stable than sports cards market
I like MLB card. I especially like Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge. But in Japan, cards other than Shohei Ohtani are more difficult to sell because of the lack of liquidity.😢 Pokemon sells in 2 seconds.😅
Still don’t get Pokémon. No numbered or very rare cards so the ripping gamble ceiling is limited. Plus they can reprint those same cards later lowering value. I’d rather gamble big on very rare sports cards when ripping.
I loved this! Would love to see Lorcana or Star wars unlimited! I've been a hockey and TCG guy for a long time and I think you nailed it. I collect and play TCG. I chase when opening hockey. I can casually open TCG and do ok. I can casually open sports and get SMOKED nearly every time. I have found sports card openings to be more frustrating than fun which is why I spend a lot higher percentage of my budget on TCG vs. sports cards.
Just depends on wat u open old wax break point would be fun lmao but Pokémon should be more consistent since everyone has a favorite Pokémon not everyone searching for Kenny Pickett rcs lol
You can make so much more money in pokemon cards while building a collection I just got into it I’ve spent $600 on all different types of booster boxes and I have a book value of around $3000 ungraded I have over 40,000 sports cards I’ve collected since childhood and I can say it’s so much harder selling sports cards there’s 1000s of professional athletes and most of the stuff is worthless if they arnt a prominent name so you could pull a cool card but nobody likes that player so he’s worth nothing but you could pull a common pokemon special art that’s worth over $300 graded and will sell within the month plus if you don’t live in the US I live in Canada it’s even harder to sell mlb cards or NFL cards cuz no one really cares about those leagues here

If your shop is selling those bulk cards for $1 plus i will not being going 😅😂😂 but please keep learning so we can get more Pokémon content

It's great I wouldn't buy sealed products, though. If you're trying to complete the set. You can just buy singles and it won't be as expensive.
I'm pretty sure that the green foil Andrew Abbot in one of the first few Stadium Club packs that you opened is numbered

Anyone know the refrence of "chicken and the egg" at 5:20?

I collect Harper and Judge too. Greetings from the US
I spent 75 bucks worth of different pokemon formats and got smoked lol 5 bucks was my most expensive card 😂
Homie is tripping putting a dollar value for holos
Thanks T-Pot!! Great comparison and idea!
No Tax Taco Tuesdays 😕 in the ATL??

There are rare cards in Pokemon. I don't mess with it but I've seen enough video clips to know that.
@ Rare not scarce. Rare to me means /10 or at least /25.
I always make more money on pokemon

Best pull for Pokémon was the Umbreon Vmax Alt Art form evolving skies or know as Moonbreon
Definitely a good one!
Video on this comp machine next lol 🤔
Sad thing is a real customer could of bought this box stadium club
enjoying the pokemon content! I collect both.
Good comparison
Sweet idea for a battle
My sports cards are still sitting on eBay I pulled a Pokémon and sold it on eBay within 3 hours crazy
Influencers box
Just depends on wat u open old wax break point would be fun lmao but Pokémon should be more consistent since everyone has a favorite Pokémon not everyone searching for Kenny Pickett rcs lol
That’s not the Chase card bro
Great video
This video was great! Maybe a basketball VS Star Wars break next??
I say that you should do this again but take one booster box vs one hobby box of football
Good
I vote for Stryker Breaks to handle all data and analytics for the channel lol
Stryker's a legend
Just released Bo Jackson Battle Arena: best of both worlds. Sports cards meets TCG these are on Fire
T pot the pokemon movie and shows say Arceus (Arc-ee-us)
