You guys must be psychic lol. I've been out of the card collecting hobby and such since I was a kid 25-30 years ago. Every time I pop up TH-cam there's a video of you guys, or other places, on a topic I've been pondering about when it comes to card collecting. I appreciate your videos and information.
@@jamiepike6909 it's still a fun hobby and that's the fun in it to open up packages and see what you get. It's like playing the lottery or gambling at a casino
It can only be a profitable investment if A) you keep products sealed and know what your doing or B) if you just buy or trade singles and know what your doing. Opening sealed boxes is the quickest way to lose money in the hobby hands down.@@msplzgo2732
@@msplzgo2732 if I were to try to make money in cards. I would never open wax. I'd sell singles. But I'm more of a hobbist who busts and so I would say I'm down 50k. lol.
Great video!! I just got into the hobby a couple days ago and I did know some of this stuff just from watching breaks but I learned a lot of stuff I didn’t know!
I’ve been back in the hobby almost 4 years and I still love these kinds of videos. TPot, roaming around CardsHQ for this type of video I hope is more fun than behind a desk pulling up 25 tabs of card examples. This is the type of video I hope continues to get steady, if not increasing, views 2-3 years down the road. The views/avg watch time on these hobby breakdown videos can be a decent data point.
Great recap Ty ! The hobby has grown exponentially with the different set types and card design offerings over the last 3 decades. I really like how you split the collectable cards vs. Investment pickups. If you have a clear view on what keeps you motivated to collect and stay on that path (Yet still keep an open mind regarding the hobby as a whole) good things will follow. Awesome walkthrough of CardsHQ as well; I didn’t realize there was such a vast selection at he store 👍
I personally don't pc anything new. My PC consists 90's-2000's refractors, inserts, parallels and numbered. Those were true short print. New stuff parallels and numbered are printed to the moon
Awesome video... dammm missed the contest by a week. I just started collecting baseball cards again after sister passed away. Kids had 11 boxes that almost went to the trash since they are older and not find interesting. Found some old cards from Fernando from the Dodgers favorite since parents would take me to the game when I was a kid. Good information you provided me with and look forward on learning more.
Very interesting video - I'm an Australian collector/investor, and Australian sports cards, specifically NRL are becoming more and more 'Americanized' every year, and watching this really shows just how much that is the case. Interesting point about sticker autographs - the only sticker autographs we have are high end sets.
I take back my previous statement, I must have missed it. Sorry had it on in the background. I COMMEND you for letting the public know the difference between a true rookie card and just a rookie year insert or rookie year card! Great explanation and great video! Thanks!
Great info thank you very much Just learned about real on card autos. Im finding its almost impossable to pull a huge card from a pack. Im starting a Steph Curry collection, I feel its a good investment plus he's my guy. Go Dubs!
Steph and LeBron are the two bball players certain to carry value for the long term from this generation. Be careful not to overpay or pay during hype cycles (like after he won the Gold medal), but Curry is a great long-term option for value.
Mahn you are like the Dawn Dish Soap of the hobby. So many grease balls I had to deal with as a kid that took my money. I appreciate your honesty and education of items, makes me want to pay the premium of an item even tho I know they probably not gonna be worth anything in the future. You make the hobby fun, interesting, and a person feels good walking out of a store were the people ain't just trying to take advantage of people.
Very educational for anyone wanting to get into the hobby and learn how to value modern sport cards. Can you have a team member do pokemon cards next ? We sewn your last episode where the buying or pokemon cards was sold and straight forward. The sport cards was a different story.. great video keep it up team. !
Okay you should have said your Uncle Jimmy’s 1987 to 1995 cards are not rare and worth a lot ! I get that everyday I got cards and when I ask them oh they from 1988 I believe I got a gold mine!

@@jamiepike6909 it seems that cards are more of a gamble/entertainment instead of being an investment. They only true winners are the card companies
I got back into cards in my 70's. Keeps you young and interested in life. Always a treasure hunt.😊@@jamiepike6909

Really appreciate your break downs. So many new people coming into the hobby, it's great to have a resource like this to point them to.
Great video for beginners like me I learned a lot
I like some parallels, but the sheer volume of them is insane to me. Like all the Wembanyama's 😵
It has gotten pretty wild...
I appreciate all the help you give us. This is a great refresher course from me. Thank you.❤

One question... How do I decide which grading company to use?
I'll have a video on that soon :)
Nice video! I think the only thing you missed was booklets. I still have yet to pull one, they are rare
Great info thank you very much

Haha! I did say that in my video a few weeks ago about "How much are your cards worth?"
Donruss needs to stop putting Rated Prospect and only use Rated Rookie😊
Buy high and sell low, and specially to these hucksters
Are you okay?
I always thought why don't people buy every 50/50 cards destroy all but one and boom value sky rockets you now have a 1/1 😂
39:07 I’d pay $40 to take a in person tour & lesson with you

I don't care if it's a sticker or on card personally. Auto is an auto is an auto
That Santander super short print Topps card was awesome
Topps CLARITY are the clear cards from Topps.
Clearly Authentic
I'm sick of Panini throwing trash relics even on autos🤬
Lots of scam out there just watch lots of videos and educate yourself before you buy
Yep I talked about that in my video a few weeks ago. Gotta be careful.
Topps clearly authentic
