I'd say we're all experts now at changing tires, we have watched about 100 videos now of Jay changing tires.
And I still watch every one he posts 😂
And yet it kicks my ass all over the garage every damn time 😂😂
I've watched all these videos a dozen times. And everytime a new one comes out, I watch it.
"One of my favorite things to do". Those are some bold words, given that tire changes are by far my least favorite things to do. But after watching you change a tire, I can see why. Looks like a good tire stand is crucial to making a tire change go smoothly! I've been missing that part, and the dedicated tire lube. Thanks for the tips.
Never enough tire changes in my opinion!
Thanks Jay. Can always use more tire changing tips.
Changing my own tire has saved me so much money and time
That depends on how much your time is worth, (and knuckles). Once you know your local dealer has a power tire changer, (making it easy for both of us), and know they do a good job, (I know I am going to scratch that anodized rim), you will never go back. :)
You know Jay has serious connections when he get's tires with the yellow Dunlop writing!!! For those who don't know, it's literally impossible to get that yellow lettering! LOL
Get the yellow marker paint and never worry about it again lol
You can find the stickers online usually 25 for a set of 6
My tire changing game changed when I got Murphy's tire soap and long curved spoons! I find mousses to be easier then tubes also.
You can tell Jay's a master at this when he says "It's my favorite thing to do!" 😉
Great video with some good ideas on tire changing. I use the plastic rim protectors to prevent the tire tool from dinging the rim.
Your best tire change video ever for us less experienced. Thanx.
Thanx big time for slowing things down.
I use the Honda type rubbers (by Zeta) on the valve stems on my KTM. I think they help to keep dirt out and some water also but let the valve stem & tube move.
Awesome! Thank you again.
That was a fantastic demonstration of tube-type tire mounting. Would you use the same stand for mounting a tire with a bib mousse tube? Or, would you recommend a changer with more features?
You actually made it look enjoyable
Next one do it with a 12 or 14 inch rear bc I’ll tell yah I loathe changing the pitbike tires
Poetry in motion👍
One of my most hated things to do, and Jay loves it 😂😂
Guys like me needed to see this I’m a new dog to the Mx world awesome video
Thanks. How do you use the two different sides of the spoons? Spoon up to remove the tire and spoon down to put it on?
Ive done this several times now and it never seems to get easier. The last 2 I did I pinched both tubes. Bought new tubes and got the tires installed, went to pump it up and realised the valve stem was pushed inside the tyre, had to remove it all again, i swear I nearly cried 😅
Got any tips for front tires, Jay?
I have yz450f. rim lock and air valve are further apart, any video on how to get rear tire on easier? thanks your videos really help.
Yes tons of them-- email us if an issue-- but on our main page look for Tire change playlist
What if the bead isn’t perfect? What about if didn’t came out just in one small part? Does that affect something important or is just aesthetic?
What make of tire stand are you using or is it a home made stand?
How about vide just changing the tube? I always have problems getting the stem in when just changing a tube without removing the tire.
I remember reading that the tube valve nut is meant to be removed and only used on the outside and not tight against the rim. Thoughts?
I can tell you if you over tighten them it will break the valve stem off!
NICE!!! I’m jealous
What gloves you use?
Do you have the plans for the tire stand?
Thank for your explanations. I am very interested in the plan to.
You didn't do it right. You didn't say any cuss words
Nope, I am have bloodied enough knuckles in the past, and had much better luck not pinching a tube with big flat head screw drivers, (never pinch) than I did spoons, (always pinch), but scratched the rim to heck (not anodized rims back then, so did not show much). My local dealer has a power tire changer, and for now, I could not be more happy about changing a tire. :)
Can u do one with a mitas stone king? Bastard of a tyre to fit
Heeeeeey!
You have done this before!
I can tell.
not sure he mentioned the direction of the spoons
Surely someone can come up with tyre changing spoons that are made with a strong enough material not to snap or break while at the same time doesn't scratch the shit out of the rims, some of us care about our rims looking decent and don't want to purposefully scrath them while mot riding ...
That tire looks so soft. My 4ply southwicks were a battle.
I sit too! LOL....
An Australian TH-camr uses silicone spray vs baby powder - swear never has pinch flats - agree? Thoughts?
Tire change video 679!
Hey Jay
Could you please send me a blue print of your tire change stand .
Thanks
SoCal Brit .
Sorry- send Jay an email directly-- links from here or website-
@@dirtbiketv1 could
I get the blue prints for the tire changer stand ?
Email Jay directly
Now do it on a mini tire. 19s are easy
tire must be made of bubble gum because my crusty old hard tire isnt comin off the rim.
Maybe it’s a different camera or camera crew, but the lighting or exposure is all off. The video looks terrible now compared to your other videos in terms of visual qualities.
Noticed that too, I thought it was my monitor at first!
That's not the MX14 that is on my bike.
You might have the connections. Is that a "special tire" right now?
Not often we mount a used tire. :)
Why don’t you turn your iso on the camera down some more holy crap I can barely see anything lol
You might need our POV video Email for a link if you can t find it.
It pisses me off how easy you do this. I feel like you microwaved the tire before putting it on
That second car commercial from Uber is a piece of shit
Without a tire stand, and hundreds of tire change experience this is a difficult job. Take it in and pay $50 bucks to have it mounted. This dude and all the other yt guys changing tires like an F1 team and lots of video editing make it look easy. It’s not. It’s frustrating af. Take it in to a shop.
Its 2024 people you don't need to change your own tyer its cost so little to get it done at a bike shop and i never seen abike shop without a fancy tyer changer that won't scratch your rim , do you change your cars tyres yourself? Why not
We get your point but sometimes the shop is closed and you still want to go ride so it's good to have all the tire changing stuff and be able to do it right. I also change a lot of tires to test different types, so I don't want to run down to the shop to drop it off and then go pick it up. I can just change my own tire and be done with it.
Well the local shop is borderline highway robbery at $100. And it's an hour drive. So no thanks.
