      It really ain't that difficult. If it is hard to change tyres one does it the wrong way OR have old tyres. An other thing to note is that powder does more or less nothing to prevent pinchflats. Use mousse grease insted. If you think avout it like this you will understand why. With two fingers, pinch the tube. Does it "slide" away from your fingers? Most often NO.
      Now with mousse grease, do the same thing. Does the tube "slide" away? YES.
      If it is easy for you to pinch the tube it is as easy for a rock.
      If it is hard for you to pinch the tube it is hard for a rock aswell.

    An important learning point for those that live in colder areas. Get the tire warm before putting it on or off. Ruined one tire by not realizing that. Also kicks your ass

    @kevin_nagle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    PRO TIP: Those last two bites; instead of removing the tire spoon, take the bite then slide the spoon over for the last bite. That way instead of “not scratching the wheel too badly.”, you won’t scratch the wheel at all :)

    Practice and technique makes perfect I pinched around 6 tires before I got it right a little different to this technique tho but it’s a lot easier for me 2 tire changes in a row doesn’t take me that Long either simple once you do it a few times and use the right amount of tools I don’t have anything to put my wheel on I just put it in a work top

    Do you think rim/wheel locks are a must on a 250 dual sport? I don't air down like you, rarely would run under 20psi. Thanks for your reply

  • @mrkattm
    @mrkattm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't need a stand but you do need some sort of lube, dish soap, Windex or some sort of bead/tire grease. This along with keeping the opposite side of the tire in the rim well is the key to fast tire changes.

    I have replaced a tube twice in a couple months on a Ktm 250 sxf (rear) same damage to the bottom of the valve stem where it meets the tube. The wheel has a rim lock . Also The valve stem came with 2 nuts on it and I left one on the inside of the rim. Any ideas why it keeps bursting the tube below the valve stem? Last puncture caused me to crash of a jump landing so I’m keen to get rid of this issue..

  • @joey011582
    @joey011582 ปีที่แล้ว

    The tire shouldn't spin and put pressure on that valve stem if the wheel lock is in place correct? I've always had my valve stem nut tight and never had a problem and I'd run 8-10 psi.

  • @TK-cl1jm
    @TK-cl1jm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where do you start if you're not running rim locks? Opposite side from valve stem?

  • @eason9115

    Where do you find that tire paste I've checked walmart and the auto parts store no one knows what I'm talking about?

  • @infidelmat
    @infidelmat 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought you ran Tubliss? 5 psi tubliss with an AT81RC in your area would be like a trials tire with dessert tire toughness. In the first half of its life, the RC version can be run flat without any huge disadvantage if you puncture.

  • @sam-ww1wk
    @sam-ww1wk ปีที่แล้ว

    Warning, if you use this removal method on a tight bead/rim interface, your rim will be stuck between both beads and you'll hav to painfully reverse. This only works with loose tires.

    Thoughts on greasing the tube? I've seen several top/pro riders on TH-cam (Adam Reimann comes to mind) who grease up the tube which in theory makes the tube slippery inside the tire and avoids pinch flats. I like the idea but certainly messy.

    I'm curious, it kind of looks like he has a little bit of air in the tube when he's installing the new tire... Is that correct? And if so does having a little bit of air in the tube make it less likely that you're going to pinch the tube with the tire lever?

    • @Sharkaru02
      @Sharkaru02 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the light spot on the tire. It should be lined up with the heavy spot on the wheel for the best balance. The heavy spot on a wheel with a rim lock is at the rim lock. If the wheel doesn't have a rim lock, you should line it up with the valve stem.
