That song helped bring the scene together. It felt organic and what this rescue team did normally to prep for a mission
Epic scene. Great music, you get to know the characters personalities in just a couple minutes..... then you've got Blaine's lines about the chewing tobacco 😂. Classic.

imagine making this film...taking guys who aren't typical actors, dropping them off in the jungle, having a giant man in an alien suit with an animatronic face play the villain while filming them with infrared and trying not to get them killed with pyrotechnics and whatever is in the jungle, you got a mini-gun that everyone has now TRIED to replicate because it's the coolest gun ever filmed, and arms getting blown off..a cloaking villain..pulling this off is so impressive, and because it's filmed in the jungle with men in a jungle it never really ages, compare this to Aliens and Rambo..fantastic 80's films but those films have aged

Forgotten? Prey on Netflix just last year, a direct spinoff of this, was a huge hit. Theres been more Predator sequels and team up movies (the horrible Alien vs Predator movies) than I can remember. All of it because of this movie.
Not really a scifi movie. Not strictly an action movie either. Not a horror movie. Its just...Predator. So incredible that it defies genre. Not remotely forgotten. It became a huge franchise spanning decades.
Rest in peace, Carl. He was brilliant in this film.

This movie gets better each time I watch it. It's a masterpiece and really just somehow..one of the best films ever made (and yes I've seen all of Kubrick's stuff and I've seen alllll kinds of films you've probably never even heard of). It gives you everything you ever wanted in an action film..nonstop. The replay value is very high. And remember Mac singing this song when he's stripping down going after Predator on his own? This film is full of details like that. "Long tall Sally, she's real sweet. She's got everything that Uncle John needs"

Yes. It seems that CGI has somehow gone backwards. It looks like a video game now, and the utter lack of practical effects takes that rawness and reality out of films.
Yes Sir, Mr. Johnny, I cast one vote for you to post sometime the helicopter scene from Battle: Los Angeles in high definition (I found two in low definition/low picture quality). In the helicopter, Staff Sergeant told Imlay that he's in charge now, and to get the civilians home safe. Staff Sergeant said he was going to leave them to go recon the area on the ground, alone...
But all the Marines plus the air force person decided on their own to join him.
