Brave man. People don't appreciate them amount of extra money it costs airing his projects before or during construction. Showing the plans of the yard has cost Daniel big money and time. Always haters about looking for legal loopholes to mess you up 😢. Keep inspiring Daniel. 👊🏿
I’m really pleased that you’re turning a corner. The expense of moving yard has been huge, but you have night work, the new build, the new homes build and you have stopped the bleeding of the extra wage.
Dan mate, just checking my wages and they're NOT in the bank, admittedly I ain't worked for ya for 18 months, I thought you'd been paying me " severance pay" as a goodwill gesture, will you accept a Pavarotti a week ( a tenor) repayment ? Love ya ❤❤❤
I don’t think I ever seen you so down as in the past few videos, you’re a true inspiration to a lot of people in business fighting to keep going in this industry,I don’t think you give yourself the credit what you deserve,my boss is Mick George and is out looking around his sites every day and look how long he’s been going keep you chin up mate and the great videos.
Daniel, the way you deal with every challenge while staying grounded in your truth is commendable. Respect to you and Ashville. You deserve every success. 🙏🏼❤
I moved my business from one yard to another in 2008... we all know what happened then. Its tough, things always cost more, money is always tight. It does sound like you are doing all the right things. I think being honest it took us about 5-6 years to recover from the move. Once we finally had the new yard fully set up things ran a lot smoother, we increase our sales volume and were able to stock a lot more material. The thing is you never really settle because then suddenly your new big yard starts to feel a bit small!!
I fully understand what you're saying! Starting on a "blank sleeve" can ofcourse increase the lay out. But also exactly like you said: regardless of which sector, every place will turn out to be too small
34:01 Something bad has happened or has the potential to happen. I can hear it in Dan’s voice, you can see it in hi’s eyes watering up. JUST KEEP AT IT DAN! The determination and passion you have will eventually shine trough the darkness and show you the light at the end of the tunnel. KEEP AT IT LAD! If anyone can do it and do it well, it’s you!
He has a bunch of companies that are doing fine though. I doubt they close at the end of the year. No way they could have gotten the new yard for 50 years if they were to close. Still worrying though
Daniel, I feel your pain. Every day, there's issues with all aspects of the day to day running of business. It's a hard watch. I don't like to see people struggle. God bless you mate.
Hi Daniel, I love your videos. I run a small business that undertakes tree surgery operations, garden clearance, I also have another leg of the business that sells firewood when I’m not on site cutting trees. The firewood business compliments the winter months, and the summer the tree surgery and garden work. Regularly they cross over and I find myself busy which is good. Every journey comes with huge ups and downs I have found that running a tree surgery business it is ‘feast or famine’ for sure. Can never keep up when I’m busy with demand, and when things are down it’s a nightmare trying to get on enough work it’s never an even flow in business that helps make things easier. Had some really tough times lately and drawn a lot of inspiration from your positive attitude and resilience so thank you for that. Sometimes I think about hanging up the gloves as it were to have more free time and work within another business instead of trying to operate one. But the huge ups are really fun and naturally they come with the huge downs. Working for someone else can feel like Groundhog Day. Having your own business is extremely challenging but very rewarding!
Thank you, Daniel, for the consistently great content!! It is a great source of motivation as I slowly and painstakingly continue to build my construction business. I'm in Connecticut in the U.S. and i've learned more watching your content over the last couple of years than the 31 years that I've been in business! 99% of my circle are not business owners and can't understand why I keep grinding 7 days a week through all the ups and downs of ownership. I completely get your journey! Thanks for constant motivation!!!
I find your talks about the struggles you are dealing with very inspiring. I’m only running one lorry, but your insights to problems and how you deal with them, they really help with my problems. I like your honesty. Cheers.
3:22 I'm so glad to hear you have found the problem and i hope the new project gives not just you but the wider Ashville team a boost. Wishing you all the best.
The Saturday morning talk is very good advice. It’s easy to see where you are not and lose sight of how far you’ve come along the way. I’ve been there, I am there. Going to a limited company and thinking “why aren’t I” “look at how well they’re doing” it’s easy to lose that confidence and motivation. I have wobbled but I have realised you have to keep moving forward and taking each little gain. The reason I watch this channel is to see where I can be and the struggle running a business can be.
I’m so glad for your videos, I run a small family business and we’re struggling but still moving forward but had a new hurdle yesterday as our house caught fire and we’re currently homeless and staying with family and this was a nice little bit of normality for me. 😊
Recently found this series and ive been loving it, always gives me more motivation to get set for another week, push hard, do more, do better. Hoping everyone has an excellent and productive week 💪
Thank you for the insights on the realities of when business gets difficult. It gives me great motivation to keep pushing on in my line of work. You only lose when you give up.
Keep pushing forward Daniel you've weathered the COVID period and you will conquer this lull period. Being transparent with your business just goes to show the honesty and person you are Keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Hi mark haulage company owner in Dublin I know all about the situation you go true every day I just watched this morning’s episode and it was nice to see you. Be more upbeat and smiling. It always helps when times are down to show the smile keep her going.
Daniel and the team, Just keep at it. You have more support than you realise! Go Ashville! The Council is more worried about how your site is going to impact the area around your property and how do you plan on migrating the issues that your site is going to generate. From experience as an engineering technician, i think the main issues are, how are you going to manage the amount of stormwater generated onsite? and are your planning on treating it (oils, silt, etc.), retaining & disposing it onsite? and what impact will it have on the existing infrastructure of the area? I'm glad Network Rail is trying to help you out, and the council is at least working with you to see what your options are. Please get them to send you a list of what has been agreed to, as they may not be the team that approves your exemption application. My suggestion is to ask Network Rail is there a planner, whom they would recommend that you speak to or get yourself a dedicated planner who knows all the rules, legislation, and often will know, how to bend the rules to your favor. I worked at a council in NZ, and i found the planners here, can be ruthless when a issue could be resolved by wording the application in a differently, and my boss would compromise on certain requirements to get around certain requirements frequently, if they saw a benefit out of it. Eg. Client putting up and maintaining a road sign (concealed exit) to allow installing a driveway in the preferred location. In NZ, our councils prefer that industrial sites retain stormwater onsite, and some require treatment & retention systems underground to ensure that the amount generated during a storm would be no more than what a normal site would normally generate without development. They will often encourage you to pay for upgrades to existing infrastructure on your site & a contribution for any further upgrades to the area. Whether that upgrade occurs or not is often up to them.
Yeah I know what ya mean. About parking. We did the same thing. First day drive the tools in. Then park outside London then get the tube 🚇 in. As parking is a joke in London.
I look forward to Sunday mornings and Ashville like Christmas, lol. Really appreciate the editing, where what you're discussing is being shown on the monitor behind you. Very informative and excellent content. Keep up the good work. We appreciate you geeza!
@thisisashville great time to see you, in the tough spots. Not what you want to show but what you feel like you have to show. Be great to see a layer on the overhead shot of the yard, once you’ve handed the old one back, showing and overlay of the old and the new again. Do another new yard video, explain why it’s good for you!
Daniel, thankyou for your honesty. it is a huge headache running a business and dealing with inspections and councils. Hope you feel a bit better - know how a running can get you down.
Hang in there Daniell everything will be OK!!! you maybe against the ropes.. but your NOT out!!! everyone on this side of the pond is rooting for you!!!!!
Hi Daniel, as a small business owner of a flooring company. People never understand how much is paid out before we put a pound in our pockets. Keep up the good work.
Hey Daniel, your videos are inspiring, your positivity even your in the trenches gives me/ us great encouragement to never give up. Keep going Daniel. Better times are coming👍💪
Another great episode - transparency with the lows and mistakes only makes it a more inspiring watch. More motivation for my businesses and vlog, thank you Daniel 🙏🏼👏🏼💪🏼
