You are absolutely correct to point out that people need to make sure their contractor is working to spec with all the correct permits in place. However, I find it ironic that the council have the nerve to say anything about the standard of the workmanship, given the absolutely appalling state of both roads and footpaths in most if not all council areas in the UK.
Steve don't worry about the way you talk. Everyone in Norfolk say mate. You smash it same as guys and gals. If they watch your content they get use to it. Don't change respect mate from Norfolk.
The way that some people moan about “guys “, mikes , the way you talk you would think that these blogs are professionally produced and up for an Oscar . You’re just hard working people filming what you do on a daily basis. Keep it up Guys 😂😂😂
Don’t apologise Stevie. I am a female and am not in the slightest bit offended at you saying guys.. People have little to be annoyed about if that upsets them.. keep up the great work. Love your videos..👍👍
For me the best this time was the change of plans for the very large gates. Very few will admit they didn’t get something quite right and show that in the video so full marks to Stevie for addressing that! Excellent fence work in such a short time. Stevie I think you should do in the car talks same as Dave, easily gives you the opportunity to give more detail on the work and as a plus longer length videos which we all want! Finally, given my background in auditing absolutely due diligence when getting quotes for work, cost breakdowns, licences or certification, insurance verification, Companies House checks, and especially reviews. (Companies House - to validate company is registered and not insolvent, filings are up to date - basically ensuring you do not have a rogue trader)
Stevie don’t apologise for what you say and how you talk ….. people pick every thing apart … you will never keep every body happy. Thanks for the upload GUYS
another wicked video from the guys an girls at d&j but stevie there never been a truer saying you get what ya pay for so don't get the cow boy get the d&j boys you known you will be getting a top job and the right job done 🎉🎉🎉
Stevie stop apologising for the way you are and they way you speak, you are what you are, and if some people are questioning the way you speak, rather than watching what a tremendous job you all do well they ain’t worth worrying about , they probably have a moan then leave the channel . Fantastic fence install with you and the lads, dad ensuring that the yard is clean and full awaiting customer s requests . Another excellent video .
Another good video Stevie, Dave and your great team. I always learn something new when I watch. Glad you survived the snow storm, it looked cold. Cheers from Australia.
I did my own quite a few years ago now and lowered it using the original flags. They were bedded on clinker, whacked down with a whacker plate and then some sand. A few years ago the council came round changing the paths to block paving and they did the lowered edge at the same time, although I hasten to add that some of the blocks have sunk due to improper compaction, but I'm happy enough with it. Unfortunately, there are many rogue traders about now and will do anything for money, including taking half upfront to never seeing them again!
Great video again watching young men working hard and doing a great job is so satisfying when you are 70+ and never put a fence post up in my life and get a blister when I use a screwdriver 👏👏👏
*Good morning D and J family* 👌 Good news on the recycled top soil 👍🏻👍🏻 *Cracking job Stevie for 1.5 days* ! Looks mega the fence and gates! The non permit drop kerb job looks a mess! The footway tarmac looks crap too (10mm??) ! I'm sure you can make it look 1000 times better. *Google reviews* ...my mate had just got a bathroom fitted and the company had *glowing reviews* ... sadly they *outsourced it* to save losing the work and the quality is atrocious! So even if you do get a renowned contractor you still need to monitor the work. *There's a lot of dishonest inexperienced traders out there* ! Nice editing Stevie Boy ..... Be safe , be warm , Gary 🙏
Well done Stevie and your team today , what a team Great fence install . Love to hear the chats with Dave in the car . Great episode again thanks to all !! .
Insurance is so important, it should be one of the first things to ask to see, my mate proved this yesterday when he hit a gas pipe putting a fence up, luckily he is fully legit and fully covered for such an event. The pipe was under a post that was already there so he expected it to be all good to just put another post in the same hole as usual.
Stevie ask your dad about using a clear plastic hose to level across big expanses. Fill it with water, hold one side at the level you need and hold the other end by where you need to get the same height. Water will find the correct level even over rough ground. Also no need to carry long pieces of wood, only a long clear hose and some water. Dave Birmingham
A simple water level. Used them in the 90’s. 👍 Just as accurate a laser, bonus is you can use around corners etc. Technology is good, science is better & and lot cheaper. 😂
Definitely keep the Dave talks in the van, you learn something new every day! It's a shame about the dropped crossing but as you say, due diligence is key, you get what you pay for 😔
Another great fencing and gate job lads but Crazy how the council find faults and fine people about a drop crossing, yet they don't repair their own stuff like huge pot holes, damaged pavements, etc.
I normally skim through the fencing parts but I actually watched it all, I think the decent speed time lapse helped. You lot smashed it out really fast. I like the old saying “good works not cheap and cheap works not good” 👍
Brilliant Video as usual.Hats off to the D&J Team, get yourselves a new Toy and get a small sit on Road sweeper for the yard 😂😂 might save a few bad backs hahaha ,❤
Great channel Guys/ people! were in a totally different industry (sign making) and based in ireland and we are finding it is also quiet and where by there would be a downturn at this time of year it's been much bigger this year
Fabulous fence and gates. D&J never disappoints. Love the chats with Dave. Love the way you speak Stevie. This old lady now says. “I need a Skip”. “Not too Shabby “. “ I need a bit of Snap” Etc. 😂 I also think Scott is Amazing. Never stands about. Anticipating what needs to be done. Good Worker. ❤
Buy cheap and you buy twice. Quality costs for a reason. Far to many guys go around offering cheap tarmac jobs, but they cut corners at cheaper prices. D&J gives you quality and, more importantly, speed as you guys definitely don't hang about. The best thing with TH-cam is that everybody gets to see the process and quality you guys are knocking out. No better advertising than that👍
I'm a 61yo female and you using the term guys is perfectly fine with me, it makes me feel included in the D&J gang. I must also say the music has been much better of late (less doof doof type stuff) so great job there. I reckon in 10yrs and Jack (new guy) is celebrating 10yrs with D&J, he's still going to be called New Man Jack. You also caught me off guard with the "We would lose Jordan down there" comment.....got me choking a little, at least he'd be smiling though.
Agree with you on cost, most of the time the cheapest quotes are the cheapest for a reason, most times it pays to pay a bit more and get a reputable tradesman or company such as yourselves. saves you money and a lot of stress in the long run!
Great shout out to the fellas at D&J for the best rip out and installing the fencing,. But they SMASHED it out, A big cheers for the young ones, as always everyone at the Company knows how to do the job and do it right 👍👍
I agree. If the chat is interesting then fair enough, but it often comes across as pure filler to make the videos longer. I’d prefer shorter more interesting videos. Sorry only being honest.
In Kent, I applied for a drop kerb about 40 years ago for my driveway. Of course back then the driveway didn't a require drainage channel and it was the council workers/contractors who did the drop kerb. Never have work done on the pavement outside your house without seeking council planning approval. Indeed many years later when the council redid all the pavements down my road, they offered a discount to anyone wanting a drop kerb.
Was watching this in bed, Mrs next to me, when you apologised for saying guys, she said the world has gone mad, I agree, it’s how we talk we all have our own colloquialisms, doesn’t mean we are being offensive to anyone, it’s just how we are! Just subscribed don’t know how your post popped up in my feed 🤷♂️ but enjoyed it, I am an avid DIY er but like to do things right and liked your entire set up 👏👏 thought I could learn a thing or two here, be interested to see how you correct that crossing! Also can you tell me is there any rules on the length of a crossing to a driveway or what if there is an inspection cover or water meter in that crossing ! Just going to find another watch 👍
Gday Stevie, a great Wednesday episode. And great work, as usual, from all the guys and gals of D&J Projects😊👍🙌😁. That drop, I think the driveway was done by B&P Paving. Looks very familiar.
Good morning D&J team,Stevie there you go again knocking the ball right out of the park and into the next decade without anyone reaching out to catch it. What a job you and the lads did it looks the business a big well done to your team from us all at Carlisle, Cumbria.😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊
That fence job was absolutely amazing speed by Scotty and Jack, it all comes down to the land structure. I am not knocking their work ethic or speed - the ground looked rather soft so most likely helped a bit. Such a shame as Stevie & Dave said about that drop crossing, but it goes to prove rules are there for a reason. Yes, the rules MAY suck but there are reasons for them. The more people who do it right the better overall for everyone. Do the job right ONCE not right 'ish' once (now if only certain landlords would learn that lesson the world would be a better place)
I know I always say the same lads but once again a top quality install 👌 rapid getting that done I must say so myself! And yeh I've got to say all your staff are proper grafters especially scott ! and new man jack is great addition to the d&j family, hard working kid and not many of them about nowadays 👍 I have mentioned everyone else in previous comments over the years so don't feel left 😁because you are all a credit to d&j ! Great video and all the best over the winter period I'm sure you are going to smash it 💯 %💪👊
Stevie smashed that fencing job, was going to suggest does D&J own an Aug? We love ours it digs out holes for post literally in seconds. Would of been perfect for you on that first fencing job , although admittedly if the groud has roots it's useless we have it on the truck for every fence Install now days can take hours offa job best buy for us this year 100 percent. Great video as always 👍
You will still get some flow. The council wants to minimize the risk of getting sued when someone slips one freezing morning. There is little down side for the council requiring the homeowner to reduce the risk.
Really good video again, I thought straight away you should be using the stronger hidges and with your experience that should have been your first thoughts which would have saved you the pain of removing that post and getting it right first time.
Some great work on the fence and big gates there Stevie well done to all you guys that was on it. Don,t change how you are Stevie for a couple of people that don,t like something you say and have been saying for years you GUYS are great in what you do. I like the Dave talking in the car i think you should keep it in the video,s now and then.
Good evening GUYS well some great jobs all you GUYS have been doing, spot on, in particular that driveway looked lovely when you finished. So glad you changed the hinges on the driveway gates they would of been way to heavy because of the size of them and every day use great job GUYS looking forward to to Sundays video now
That fence job looks like it's on Melbourne Road? First video I have watched, would like a quote for a dropped Kerb and possibly 2 wooden gates. Will drop you GUYS a line 👍
I really like your philosophy at D&J , I have 2 Questions for you if you can answer the first one is ,what happened to Azney ? and the second one is did you give Daves JCB a name yet , I suggested Goliath ,I thought it would be a good spin ie: David and Goliath ? ❤
Having contractors in to work can be very stressful if you’ve never used them before. Watching how you work and your attention to detail is a breath of fresh air. It’s a shame you only operate in Nottingham. Come on “guys” time to open a London branch!
Hi d&j Project l love watching your video all the time guys u guys smash all the time on the facning sevte jobs Scott & new man Jack too keep up the very exact work like away the time guys I see u on Sunday video now guys ❤💪👷♂️👌👍
I had a dropped kerb done in Kent and when the council granted me permission they sent me a list of contractors authorised by them to work on the roads... I then was able to get quotes from the contractors they sent me the details of
Well another cracking Wednesday video Dave and Stevie, big shout out to Scotty to hottie and new fella jack they both smashed out the work the finish was excellent 👌👍,hard to comment on the poor people drop kerb finish no drainage,i dare say there's lots of people whom don't really know anything about blockpaved driveway and dropped kerb set up, , bringing out this video should help the miss unfortunately people whom don't understand why they pay less money ,not ask the details about what needs to happen start and finish, great to listen to you dave chatting about this very enjoyable like all your content always something different, having a good bit of banter always something magical running your business and all the people who work with d and j projects 😎👍, and little pickle's looking forward to watching Sunday special 😄😎👍
Hi Steve. can you pass on to Scotty to hotty how much he reminds me of my grandson who has started working and made me proud as granddad, his own Dad and granddad must be proud of him, as he is doing a great job of working hard, and learning skills that will prove him as a young man. Well done to all of the D&J boys and girls who all make there parents and grand parents very proud, lots of respect from me and my family here in the Isle of Man
great job ,the drive way, had i ,had them wide gates , i would have put a jockey wheel at the bottom just to take a bit of the weight, off the gates and put a thin concrete arch to run them on gates on ,heres hoping the owner is on the same wave length as me,great content as always.also in norfolk we call the crew/ staff ,the bears.
Gedling is a bit of a funny one with heights because of the gradient. Can’t discharge water on to the highway but also the highway can’t discharge water on to your property and spot on with the permeable. You can find a majority of permit work on the MyNotts app if you go on highways but permits are all registered on street manager with the correct credentials. City and county are under via for va’s I believe but the inspectors do walk the streets, drive the streets on different inspections and have to follow rules and regulations. Can always drop me a message if you need any advice gents, highway inspector for county

However, I find it ironic that the council have the nerve to say anything about the standard of the workmanship, given the absolutely appalling state of both roads and footpaths in most if not all council areas in the UK.
the council give standards but the workmen just dont follow it

Hi, why does the driveway need drainage, i thought that block paving was class as permeable and as such didnt need any additional drainage?

There is little down side for the council requiring the homeowner to reduce the risk.

Well done guys E n E 👍🏻
Gedling is a bit of a funny one with heights because of the gradient. Can’t discharge water on to the highway but also the highway can’t discharge water on to your property and spot on with the permeable. You can find a majority of permit work on the MyNotts app if you go on highways but permits are all registered on street manager with the correct credentials. City and county are under via for va’s I believe but the inspectors do walk the streets, drive the streets on different inspections and have to follow rules and regulations. Can always drop me a message if you need any advice gents, highway inspector for county
