I kinda of felt the same way about Casey's line there at the end of season 3. From the start of the show I accepted Mikey being more dumb down because they still made him likable, he was kind of an idiot savant, and they didn't do the typical trope of having a seemingly smart suddenly become more dumb. Like they did with Drake from Drake and Josh or they seem to do here with Casey. While I do love this show and think it's one of the best Ninja Turtle adaptations. There are times when it gets repetitive, the filler is hit and miss, and they drag out certain storylines (like the Karai being mutated thing). Casey constantly talking about himself was one of those repetitive things. However, this shows makes up for that with great characterization, high-spirited fights, some of the best voice acting (mostly due to Andrea Romano being voice director), dramatic stories that work, and always being consistantly fun 😎.
I could defend some of cassy’s more smooth brain moments. Remember he’s a teen and one who clearly has a lot of energy, and him being in New York, his reaction to the ship could be him being overwhelmed by a mix of curiosity and excitement for what is happening. It wouldn’t be too hard to believe with the clear creativity seen in the gear he made. Also that oops scene, not only is he being awesome, but that face almost says “stay gone, you’ve hurt enough people”
How have I not come across this video before. I feel exactly the same way about Casey, it's such a shame that he's so great version who falls flat really fast. However, I disagree on one thing, I say Casey's downfall began in season 4 and he was just as great in season 3. Yeah, you showed him trying to fight the Shredder on his own, but there's a reason to it. The show itself made a clever meta joke on how Casey got essentially sidelined in season 3 and wanted the respect back. That's why "Casey Jones vs the Underworld" is my favorite 2012 Casey episode. Casey may not be as strong as the Turtles, but be got a fire in his heart and a lot of guts to oppose the Shredder. Not to mention, it's the episode where Casey turned the tide of the battle and saved the day. Such a shame season 4 made him sound like a self-centered moron most of the time and season 5 turned him into a punching bag who got knocked out of the plot several times. Still, I think this Casey is quite underrated and still much more interesting as a character compared to the likes of 1987 and 2003 buffoons. But in all honesty, IDW and Rise movie Casey are the peak of this character so far.
I don’t like that they made him skinny and a complete idiot. He’s supposed to be buff or at least look strong and he’s not an idiotic mysoginist. He’s a stubborn rule breaker with a heart of gold and smart in his own way
Seriously! I loved this Casey in the beginning, but after season three it all went downhill- and you spelled out exactly how so well

2:23 How’d you get live footage of me watching just about any Dragon Ball anime thing? LOL
I loved his design and his outfit +mask/face paint but I CAN NOT stand looking at his face for some reason. It’s painful to me😭
