This was SO helpful. I just switched from the 0.25 to the 0.5 SkinMedica retinol & I also use ZO products. I woke up with flaking/red patches this morning & ran to the internet lol. Glad to hear that exfoliating & moisturizing helps and that it gets better!
I think slowly introducing retinol is the best way to go. The irritation isn't necessary! Also using mousturizer before and after the retinol when you're starting really helps! Making sure you're moisturized on the corner of your lips and nose helps not to peel aswell.

Doesn’t daily power defense from ZO have retinol in it? Their new formula doesn’t but I heard their old one does… could this have made peeling worse?

You are NOT supposed to use it everyday. 2x a week for one month & ONLY ever up to 3x a week!!!! Please do not do it more!
