- I couldn't believe it was just sitting there on the shelf at Goodwill..... heavy, non magnetic, slightly tarnished and showing some age, but did I find real silver?? Thrift with me and find out exactly what it is.......
Hello Everyone! Its Tiffany with Thrifting Vegas. I shop at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and discount stores for items I can resell for a profit on online platforms like eBay, Poshmark and Offer-Up.
Its a beautiful Tuesday afternoon in Las Vegas. Late March and in the mid seventies with blue cloudless skies... who cold ask for more? My favorite Goodwill was a little but busier than usual but I found plenty of treasure hiding on the shelves. Thrift with me and learn what to bolo and what to leave on the shelf and why. I found a set of beautiful vintage glasses to match a set I all ready own, a Corel Cornflower Coffee Percolator, a lovely rainbow vase from Pier 1 Imports, a Russ cat figurine, a MCM style ceramic statue and a candle holder that looks like an iceberg! Stay to see everything I purchased in my haul where my sweet cats Ziggy and Bandit enjoy the take home box from Goodwill. I show you everything I found, what I paid and what I expect to get for it. Ok use single salt shaker on counter near stove top for garlic and onion powder combo mix..to add to eggs, etc..
You know, Tiffany, you might check Amazon for a metal testing kit. They’re not that expensive and you can use them MANY TIMES over. ☺️
I have read that sometimes the testing kits can mark a piece.
Bear did so good for his bath! The cats did a good job supervising the haul. I'm interested to find out if the tea pot is silver, let us know.
I've never seen Bear use his sad eyes before! They were very funny. He really is such a well-behaved dog!

I'm so glad to see that you got a harness for Bear. It looks a little to loose on him, but I am such an advocate for dogs to wear a harness. They are so much safer!

I have thought that often. The Freedom,no pull is my favorite. And besides being safer it avoids damage to the throat .
Bear is so cute! He was so good getting his bath. I laughed when he talked back to you. He is a beautiful dog. I have a cat named Bear. He was a stray we took in. He is very timid, but he is coming around.

The coffee pot looks very much like a part of the service my grandmother gave my mom for her wedding in the late 60’s. Unfortunately, it is plate. Sterling would have been marked. I agree with you picking up an inexpensive testing kit. The thumbprint glasses are 1960’s Hazel Atlas,”El Dorado” and are considered by some to be fairly rare. 😀I love your channel!😁

The Corning pot had a RECALL several years ago because the handle and band can come off. I had a similar one with the top band and handle lower with the top of the glass flanged out around the top keeping the band from coming off. Ebay had removed my listing with the notice of the recall. I called Corning to investigate and learned that mine was not part of the recall. I contacted eBay with the proof and was able to relist and sell my pot. They may or may not pull yours but you should know about the recall and maybe get a refund from GW. Love your video's & learn a lot from you. Stay safe always.
I was saying the same thing when she picked that up but maybe she sells out on a different market
I had the exact same happen to me when I listed it on EBay.
It all depends on the model number. Yes the handles did come off on the early models. Corning fixed this issue and some of the later model numbers are OK to sell on ebay.
LOL I still have one of those taking up space in one of my cabinets! My mother had one of the earlier ones and loved it. When they changed models, she tossed it and bought a new one right away and that’s the same one in my kitchen! It’s like brand new - neither my mother or father drank coffee so it was only used when they had guests, including my mother’s bridge groups. When you don’t drink coffee and you know how particular others are about it, you worry since you can’t taste it yourself. It had t been used since probably the 80s. I think she held onto it because after she started using it, people would rave about her coffee and she didn’t want to jinx it! 😂 I look at it and know I should jettison it, but I just can’t when I remember how much confidence it gave her.

LOL The Adirondack’s are about 5,000 feet. The mountains around Las Vegas are more than double that at 12,000…

We had a silver set from my Grandmother (Nana. Don't call me Grandmother.) It was only plate but it was pretty. Discovered my Dad in the basement one day, vigorously scrubbing the tray with steel wool. Look, Chrissy! Look how pretty! Silver completely scratched off, copper underneath. Thinking about it today, the copper might have been worth more than the thin layer of silver!

I do believe your thumbprint glasses are mid century, not depression. The avocado color was a typical 70's color. I do think they are imperial glass.
Yes they are mid-century I agree with you I have a lot of mid-century green and orange pieces in my kitchen

She refused a new wedding dress. She said it's dumb to spend so much when you only wear it one day. She is a gem. Her dress was $499. And like it was made for her. Bear is really looking like a German Shepherd now, he is gorgeous! Pets bring so much love and joy into ones life and are a great learning tool for children on so many levels. Those Avocado green classes are not depression glass, they were made in the 60s, or 70s, not the depression.

We found amazing silver candelabras and sticks immediately after restrictions were lifted. We don't see anymore, as well as fine silverware.
Silver watermarks that have the letters SP indicate silver plating.

Smart to introduce Bear while still young to the doggie bath and spa treatment. Next time he will eagerly jump out of the car for this. Also Bear's fur is now glossy in the sun light. Tiffany we all appreciate the teaching segments . Next time instead of overlooking an old wood bowl, we would be more apt to pick it up and use the mineral oil rub. Thanks!

Mineral oil is wonderful. I have a dozen dark green plastic chairs in my garden. They are 20 years old. When they look just too terrible, greying and mottled, I rub a coat of mineral oil over them and they miraculously return to a lovely deep green color.
O boy! I want that hot oil treatment!!!!
Absolutely loved the stainless dish! Those are so handy for serving anything! They’re attractive, go with any decor, can keep things warm (and can even go into an oven or toaster oven briefly to warm something), last forever and still look great and, unlike aluminum, don’t require hand washing and can go through the dishwasher countless times without discoloration and still look brand new. I’m so tempted by that, but don’t need it at all and really don’t have room… ⬅️ Me, talking myself into and back out of it! 🤣🤣 Love the green glasses - we had those when I was a kid. And I can’t wait to hear about the coffee server. My guess is electroplated metal like those used by hotels to look like silver but able to withstand hard use and repeated, high heat washing. It has a gold cast to it in the pictures - us that just tarnish or could it have been plated with gold as some flatware is?
I enjoyed watching Bandit trying to use psychology on Ziggy to get him to abandon the box! Ziggy was too smart to fall for the old “hiding behind the box to make you think I’ve given up” trick! 😂
Bear is just the sweetest boy! He’s very lucky being so loved - you can see how confident and secure he feels. The bath footage was cute and he looked happy through the bath and patient through the hot oil treatment. But that face when the water turned back on was priceless! 🤣🤣 BETRAYAL! He clearly thought he was done and like he’d been double crossed! But all was forgiven with the treat/peace offering. And you’re right - he does have lamby (lambie?) ears! 🥰
