Not gonna lie, I think if Monster Hunter ever moved to First Person it would have to be VR. The kind of situational awareness you need in these games would play so well with the kind of free aim you have with VR.
You've opened my eyes to a wild future we'll probably never get.
I mean i feel like we are slowly reaching our way into VR being amped up with Zuckerberg trying to start the metaverse with VR and shiz. So i feel like we will eventually reach that Ready Player One level of vr and there will be VR monster hunter or something very similar

@@DMDarren as the owner of a quest 2 just get a headset now vr is honestly the greatest gaming experience I’ve ever had if I had good enough wifi for airlink I would never take of my headset again
thats interesting i think that a battle royal wold require more situational awareness to be honest where 60 people could be shooting from so many different directions ad they play fine in VR i mean their is lots you can do to put blips on edge of screen or sound for awareness etc! however i have found most third person games a joy to play in VR it makes you feel like you have a toy play set in front of you this would be amazing for MH!
I mean they are launching a MHWI VR Experience at Universal Studios Japan so I really don't think it's that unlikely we will see some kind of VR game in the future since they are already exploring it
I really miss how big older maps felt, I get that they aren’t actually bigger than locales in World or Rise but the scale of each zone added so much to my immersion.
You really get this on the Tri volcano map. The whole time you’re going up each room is higher and higher in the sky and it really feels like you’re trekking up this enormous Volacano. Something that I feel kinda gets lost with the super speedy movement in Rise.
@@bloodbane93 To be fair there are areas in world and rise that give me this feel. The plains for instances have a lot of lil caverns ( where you find secret notes) to go around in. and while ppl hate Ancient forest in world, it did give that kind of lost forest trek feel including falling off the waterfall with rathalos lol

@@bloodbane93 yes this. In monster Hunter World the ecosystem feels alive. In rise they took a more streamlined approach to map design but it took away from my immersion. Dog drifting is a 10/10 feature tho.

Ever since I bought MHGU on my switch and the started playing MHW:I more again I've been thinking of how they would ever do this, I'd love to see a VR type of MH game, just i don't know how Well it would be used, like if weapons would have weight (sorta like TWD) or if you'd go flying after getting hit.. idk, so many questions

I hope Capcom brings back Deserted Island in Sunbreak. Would be awesome to explorer that map seamlessly without any loading screens. Heck, bring back all the previous generations forest/jungle maps. Monster Hunter looks and feels best on forested maps.

I feel like this is the direction VR games should try to push towards. "Games in VR" and thats it. No hands or POV gimmicks to try and sell it as a "VR Experience" just a great experience in VR. I played WipeOut in VR on PS4 and it was genuinely my favorite VR experience (aside from Beat Sabers) because it was just a fast pace game and everywhere I looked was more game. I could look into turns and around loops as I sped by and it kinda felt like how they depict VR in movies with the person sitting in the middle of all the game stuff while everything is happening around them and didn't feel like some tech demo they were pushing on me. Take any game and just plop it into VR and Im there. No weird controls or gimmicks needed.
This is the sorta thing that would make me consider buying a vr set. I got a couple games with very limited camera movement I'd like to more freely just enjoy the worlds of.
Could you imagine what it would be like if you could do this in first Hunter perspective!? It would definitely take some adjusting and I wouldn't recommend it if you have motion sickness but I would be amazing!!

Now if this isn't a uniquely nostalgic concept that reinvigorates that original sense of immersion from being introduced to and falling into monhun for the first time, hells yeah.
dang this looks way cooler than I expected it to be going in and rlly makes me wish smth like this gets added for real in a future game as unlikely as it is. camera mode with this would be a hoot tho thats for sure

Jhen Mohran hunt is, probably for ever, one of my favourite experiences i had in game. Its just perfect, peak epic monster hunter stuff. The takes in this video being able to follow him as if you were there standing in the map.. ahhh man this is so f**in cool *-*
The whole UI/menu overlay reminds me a lot of warframe, if you press esc the camera zooms in on your back and shows a hologram with the menu options coming out. But if you have a funky connection the camera will not zoom in and stay a few meters behind you, while the menu UI is near your character xD
I always loved taking the binoculars on my first trip to an area and just scoping out these views. This could be a really cool experience, especially with some of the more dynamic/continuous environments the series has been exploring.
I wish so badly that the devs would resume their work on the Dolphin VR build. Having those experiences optimized would be a dream!
The problem was that the developers never worked on the Dolphin VR build. It was someone else on their fork, and the Dolphin devs wanted to postpone VR support until VR APIs / etc became more standardized -- otherwise they'd risk having to redo all of the work again when next gen VR came through (e.g. look at all of the hand / full body tracking nowadays rather than just floating Vive wands). Maybe it's now in a better place for them to be able to support it though
@@drew_echo yeah, I read about that somewhere. While I am a dev, I never worked with VR apis myself yet, But I'm pretty sure OpenVR is ptetty standardized? I just really hope that it eventually goes further :3
I think a strong part of the verdict people had on water world, I mean 3u, depended alot on weapon choice. As s bow, hammer, and SNS main in gu, I was fine. I feel like hammer range is deceptively short and SNS is short so I was used to having to be dumb close so depth didn't matter and with bow, well, barely felt diff underwater with pierce arrow tbh. Idk.i just want it back ya know?
I absolutely love underwater combat (bow main here.) It took a few hunts to grow on me but now I hate that it's not in later games.
@@LaughingBat haven't been able to play bow since gu. 5th gen bow is so weird to me. Firing and dodging as a combo is so cool but I'm trash at it
Hahaha that is great! The idea of Pickles of trying dolphin VR with Tri is fantastic. You could also have tried MHG has he did to see the 1st gen maps and kokoto in VR.

this is amaizing. but i think for a fully consistent experience if they ever tried to do a VR game it would have to be first person obviously. and then you wouldn't be able to see your awesome armors anymore :D

this game is what got me started on the series. vr would be such a fun way to play monster hunter. if theres going to be a remake i would fully support a vr remake of tri.

Just started playing the PSP games in VR, and it really adds a lot. I hope we get new games with native support for VR from Capcom. Even runs on the Quest 2 standalone without a PC.

Since I developed a game for VR in early 2020, I have seen how much potential the medium has, it really is the future of gaming but currently, it's just not very accessible and not everyone can stomach it.
lol, I messed with this a long time ago. Funny to see this come out right after the RE Framework VR mod for RE2/3/7/8, MHRise, and DMC5

Imagine a vr monster hunter game where you play as a researcher/handler and you have an ai hunter companion who actually does the fighting, while you must do things like take pictures and write down info, all while avoiding getting hit
You could be fighting Jhen Moran and your goal is to collect samples from the monster's back, all the while the captain of your ship is yelling at you guys to refill the cannons, and sand is flying everywhere because Jhen Moran decided to jump, or maybe there could be quests to take back eggs and you have to assess threats and command your hunter to attack specific monsters to protect you better, there's so much potential for something like this.
this was really amazing thank you for this fresh nostalgic exp. I dont think i have any desire to go back n play tri since i feel similar to you i prefer 3U i would try something like this if i ever get the chance but if not this was still amazing second hand like putting your video full screen on the tv with high volume was pretty amazing :)

I remember going to Loc Lac on the last day it was online waiting for it to eventually go offline. I spent many hundreds of hours in that hub, good times.
I think I like the old Sandy Desert and Flooded Forest over Rise versions. Something about them just feels better to me although that ruin spot in the Sandy Desert down the bottom is cool.

I remember hating the swim mechanic in MH Tri. Currently playing MH Rise and the difficulty is gone, very sad.
The Jhen Moran Quest in Tri was almost unbeatable even with good gear. There is literally just a 3-5 second time frame between winning and loosing if you do it perfect.

@@mcgruber I have seen someone's vid (sry no link) where he tried to solo it and got a very small time frame to make it. He needed to play perfect for almost every frame in oder to finish it just seconds before the time runs out.

As someone who is having problems of getting Rise to work due to the Failed to Save loop. Honestly wondering about the alternative timeline where MH became a immersive VR game and forced proper spacial awareness. This is so wild, I did the guide of having the private Loc Lac Tri experience but I need to try this. Better dust off my headset!

There is already a VR mod for MH Rise on PC. I’ve tried it and it works extremely well. Not my preferred way of playing, but a fun novelty. And the sense of scale. I haven’t seen Narwa yet in VR but even Goss Harog is surprisingly huge.

No, the headset is fully free, but I could use the right analog stick to do the snapping you are describing

With monster hunter rise being in the REngine, vr and first person can easily be done just like it was with the resident evil remakes. So excited for the modding scene to pick up on PC so ican experience that at least once. I know playing insect glaive in vr or first person would he nausea inducing haha

@@teezee9387 for wii u, they are. But capcom dropped the ball a bit for the 3ds release, cutting online multiplayer support. A lot of people (like myself) have a 3ds, but aren’t exactly willing to drop $200 simply for online support. Im glad the game is on 3ds in the first place, but I would really like to play the game with others, especially when I hit G rank.

You should do this with Monster Hunter G's Wii Version, if you can of course, as I would like to see how it is in VR as well, since I don't own a VR headset. I believe it did get an english patch, too.

Dolphin has had free camera mode for a long time...you don't need VR headset to look around or even boundary break any games environment.

Honestly for me they should atleast make a MH game for android/ios or maybe port some games like 4u or 3u
They did a couple of times. We got Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunting and a port of MHFU for at least iOS. Hapan also had titles like Monster Hunter Massive Hunting, Monster Hunter Explore, and Monster Hunter Riders release, though of all of these, I think Riders is the only one you can still play to this day. All other titles have beem taken from the store and had the servers shut down. There's also Monster Hunter Stories 1 having a release on mobile.

Not gonna lie... I want the future of monster hunter to be massive open world filledd with various biomes towns and camps to unlock. You take quests, fast travel to camps, traverse intense biomes, go on big hunts, and have a large RPG experience. :D I know it would feel mostly pointless to make an open world for this kind of game, since most people just want to hunt monsters and grind... But man that'd be such an escape.

Now MH Tri in VR with a fight stick
so I've been trying to play MH tri on my pc through dolphin and i can't get it to quite work. when i run it, it has this weird box effect to the textures its strange maybe intended for the wii older screens idk. but if i fix that buy going onto stereoscopy and making it HDMI 3d it removes that and makes the game look great solid 4k so nice BUT its also extremely bright and i know about the disable skip efb access tried that. i just wanna know what are some good configurations for dolphin to run MH tri.
Pretty sure I know what you're talking about. In graphics settings you need to have "Scaled EFB" enabled. As well as Skip EFB Access and Ignore Format Changes. Few other settings It could be.

@@SuperRADLemon So I did try your settings and it was something I didn't try before but still no luck ;-; I've also tried not having any boxes ticked but the ones you recommended and the anti-aliasing anisotropic filtering and post processing effect which are 8x MSAA , 16x, and FXAA the backed i was using was vulken and I've tried just open gl and direct 3d 11. I know it be a hassle, but could you maybe type out all the things you have ticked and set to and if that doesn't work out I'll just accept the brightness. I could also tone down the resolution that did fix the box effect before it just wasn't a very sharp image. And I see now that the hdmi3 thing doesn't help with the resolution scaling that efb stuff does so thanks for that.
