    Cheers for checking out my stuff dude. There are way better captures out there than mine, next time I'll get a load box for sure and do it properly haha. However I think my IR packs are up to scratch, Barefoot and Red Giant are good for modern low chuggas. Thanks again, great tones!

      Maybe I can also chime in, here. To every owner of the Mercuriall SS-11X plugin. You can use it just as an IR loader with that Engl Send capture. Most, if not all IRs in there are with a certain poweramp "baked in". Also the SS-11X allows for 1-click operation in stereo to make it very easy toggeling through IRs while listening to your doubled guitar tracks. So, it can rest in a Stereo bus, routing the 2 NAM instances into it. The Greenbacks right at the front are great. "Crunch Front and Cyclone" and many more...

    Those are all excellent picks! I did a demo with LaRue’s blacked out recto pack. 🤘

      Nice. Just pulled it up. I need to get some of these tones into a mix as well. I am jonesing to compare a tone pack with a reamp of one of my amps using the same IR. But there are so many good capture out there, it is hard to choose!!

    The Resington-capture is a preamp capture, not the whole amp. Do you think it is necessary to go for IRs with a non-neutral poweramp "baked-in", or do you just go with what suits your ears. Resington himself makes IRs from the Engl poweramp and his speaker cabs. So, they would be a quite good match. I think IRs should come with a better description of how they were made. Mostly the professionals use a solid-state neutral or flat response poweramp. Of course we don't know how linear the Engl poweramp actually is. In my SS-11x suite from Mercuriall I have IRs with flavouring of certain poweramps i.e. "Recto". Nice tone you got on the Mesa Mark IIC.

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio

      I do think a proper IR needs to not be influenced by the way a tube power section reacts with the impedance curve of a particular cab. For the speaker to output an accurate frequency response and be accurately applicable to various amps, I think the power need to come from a linear source. But… my personal caveat to the concept of “accuracy” is that of it sounds good, go for it!
      I am more keen on the amp models being captures of both pre and power amp sections of an amp to be the best representation of the amp. I think if you just line out from the preamp section of the amp, you miss something about the character of the amp. I know that there seems to be a difference between using the preamp out on my EVH into a cab IR vs using my torpedo captor reactive load box from the speaker out of the EVH into a cab IR. The load box sounds better and more natural to me.

      @@BaritoneGoatStudio So, if I may ask one last question: An IR created through a poweramp from let's say a rectifier is not as good as a profile of the poweramp captured by NAM or Kemper? I have a Randall RD-5 here and use the Send with poweramp-coloured IRs. Would the better approach be to use a poweramp profile and a flat response IR? Another idea is a poweramp vst when only using preamp outs. Just buggles my mind lately what is the best and more accurate thing to do! Cheers

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@InTheSh8 I think having a capture of the whole amp is better. In the Tonex environment, which I use, when capturing an amp only profile you typically use a powered signal. If an IR gets made from sending a sine wave through a tube power amp, you will get some coloration from inconsistency in how the speakers move when driven by a tube amp. It might not sound bad, but it might also not not as good across multiple amps as something made with a linear power amp. I think the more accurate way to profile an amps gain stage is to have the full amp (pre and power) modeled and input into an IR that is as clean as possible. An IR is a actually two components, the speaker, and the mic. A linear power source will give you the most neural snapshot and should be more accurate to how that speaker cab and mic set up would sound with any amp (capture or DI) would sound.

      @resington 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey dudes! My captures were from the Engl's effects send which sounds quite different from using the speaker out into a reactive load say. I really wish I'd bought a load box to do this properly. Mine are okay, they lack some colour tbh, way better captures out there, like the other ones showed here. I do however stand fully behind my IR packs. Thanks so much for checking them out!

      @@resington I'm a long time follower of yours. I sometimes dig into the deepest technicalities! I appreciate all your phenomenal work! I don't want my post to be misunderstood! In the end it counts how the complete chain sounds as a whole. I have that Randall RD-5 and can only use the Send into my DAW. So, it is totally a legit approach to then use your IRs which kinda have the poweramp of your Engl baked in. So, nothing but appreciation! Your IRs would be a great addition to that SS-11X, which I also own.

      For amp sims I have probably about 20 or 30… Mainly from Nerual DSP, Audio Assault, ML Sound, STL Tones, Aroura DSP, Nembrini Audio, Bogren Digital, and a new company APFX out of Italy. Some are free, some are bought, and other given to try.
      Beyond that I have about 300 other various plug-ins (vst) or midi intruments that I use for other things.

      @BaritoneGoatStudio I bought it when it first came out it was on sale for $40 I don't think it's going on sale again for a while. Berried Alive is one of my favorite bands Charles Caswell is an amazing guitarist. Its the first amp sim I ever bought, I was surprised by how easy it was to use. Changing the irs is actually pretty fun I love the artwork. And even though my audio interface is terrible and I haven't changed the strings on my guitar in 20 years it sounded really good

    Question is if this will get me close to the linkin park meteora era tone🥲

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think any Mesa recto capture and V30 based IR will get you mostly in the ballpark. He played Mesa Trad 412s. Bit tighter than the OS cabs. That rhythm tone is very tightly mixed with the bass guitar tone as well. It has more high end than you might think and is slightly compressed sounding with a slow attack time and shorter release I would say.
      Brad also used a D-Sonic Dimarzio pickup in his PRS back then if that helps.
