1st off...great car to start with...a restorers dream for sure...1/4s are unbelievable. but before you pull that old A motor, even if you are going to rebuild or replace it...you,ve got 1 huge ace card you may not have thought of with the manual transmission....get a tow-strap and pull it at about 5-10 mph in 1st and pop the clutch and depress rapidly several times...you may even do the same in reverse....if its not blown-up that,ll break it loose....saw a freak take a 67 mustang...the 302 hadnt ran in 20 years...i swore up and down it was seized...absolutely nothing would budge it....then 1 saturday he used that method over and over after pre-soaking...i said if it doesnt break free you,ll break a ring or ringland or worse...but he refused to quit....finally after about 20 tries...it broke loose, and fired right up and smoked like a chimney....i think he drove that car for 3 years....and it was running when he sold it.....real life true-story.....great car you,ve got with metric tons of potential.
I had this done with my motorcycle 3 weeks ago, oil in the cylinders, and try to puch start (key switched off) after about 12 timed, it was lose. It was standing for more then 9 years, now it's a joy to ride. 😊
Yes, a buddy pulled a '66 Chevelle SS out of a field after near 20 yrs sitting. He got the engine freed up by towing the car while clutching in and out. Drove it like that for a year before rebuilding. Still driving it 35 years later.
heres 1 for the timelys...hagerty has a brand new video out with engine-builder davin doing a ford model A motor... no 21..with the old-fashioned style crush-babbot bearings in it...takes over 100 ft-lbs of torque to turn the brand-new assembly over and that the starter may not hack it....said he,ll have to pull it behind another vehicle, break-in the super-tight bottom-end in this case, not the rusty ring-to-wall scenario at all...but still same principle.....but on a brand-newbee.
A green Dodge Challenger was my first car 🚘 my Dad paid about $800 for it. I was grateful for it . I drove it from New York 🗽 city to Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦 with a leaky gasoline tank.
I'm super excited about this revival series! Glad I stumbled across it! How cool it would be to be able to save these classic beauty's! If you ever need a grunt let me know man! Much love bro! Thanks for the content and God bless!
It is impossible for someone to abandon a dodge, even in that state it has a value .... So I think this car has never been abandoned and that there was a bit of fiction in this video
i mean, the owner dying is a fair reason for it being abandonned, i was confused as well as to why someone would do that, but it's very likely the owner simply never got back to the car
Luckly it was more oxidated more than rusty. And also, I've seen people put an a.c or heating in old cars like challengers, as well as a Bluetooth port so they could put on classics. ( Good idea but I'd prefer CD)
I can't believe you dragged it into a garage without cleaning the mess off of it first for your own sake! Air gun then power wash then air gun again and shop-vac that interior.
Hell yea! I'm glad you got this thing. Let that man's memory live on through his awesome car! I don't know who he is, but I certainly wish he could watch you restore it!
Let the man's memory live on??? Are you kidding??? The idiot had absolutely no plans for it but to rot in a hayfield... If it meant so much to him, why not tell someone what to do with it in the event of his untimely death. He didn't have a will? This is why so many of these classic cars get sent to the junkyard.I hope he didn't let all his pets starve to death...
Brother, I'm blessed to see that you proclaim the Words of Christ through your works. I've been praying to Jesus about this myself too, and I'm thankful, blessed and inspired to have come across your video. Keep up the good fight, brother. Prayers with you.
Nice find for a 73. The 318 V8 was a durable and long production run engine right up to the redo of the Imperial in the early 80's, so you can find parts for it. Nice to see one from the 73/74 years being restored. Looking forward to the restoration. I subscribed.
Another thing to wear when cleaning /ripping out the interior on these old cars is a mask. A lot of them have asbestos which is very dangerous to breath in. London, uk
Dylan I'm glad you got your dream car. I got my dream car much the same way. A 73 cuda. The car was just sitting in someone's driveway and just being used as a workbench for other shity cars. I traded my motorcycle that I payed 400 bucks for and that cuda was mine. That was in 1988. That cuda is still in my garage and now my sons are drooling and waiting for they're chance. I've also got a few other old muscle cars that are still works in progress. Keep up enjoying your challenger. She's a sweet ride 👍👍😎✌✌

You know... now that you mention it, seeing as it was a custom order car it may even be a one off. Not really the kind of options that peak the interest of big money collectors or show goers but maybe a one off none the less.
My first car. 73 triple black, 318 and air. 14 years old. All I liked was Is having the seats recovered. My 18 year old grounded sister snuck off in it to the store, put it on its top on the way back. 1984.
I always wonder why a guy doesn't run by the carwash with the barn find on his trailer and dump about $20 of quarters into making the car a WHOLE BUNCH more comfortable to work on. Blast off all that mold and dust and critter infestation before you start disassembly!
After what he probably paid for it he probably didn't have any money left to spare to clean it up I imagine he probably owes someone to payback what he had to borrow if that maybe the case .
Great video! I am restoring a 73 Rallye with a great pro shop near Frederick, MD. We are using components from a 72 base 318 car I bought in 1995 and tried to do myself. But as an amateur I was doing more harm than good and was over my head. The 340 for the Rallye is long gone but I will be using a bored out 318 a friend who raced sold me when he stepped up to a 360 for his Cuda - it is a nice engine; and this car will be a 4 speed. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos on this Challenger. Duane

Yes I've seen that done a few times
My brother has done that with old tractors also
**goes in to his garage and hugs his Challenger** I'll never let this happen to you.

It’s like when u found your true lover ♥️🙂 never be sad again
A green Dodge Challenger was my first car 🚘 my Dad paid about $800 for it. I was grateful for it . I drove it from New York 🗽 city to Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦 with a leaky gasoline tank.
I just want to know where the hell he keeps finding these mopars because i need one
You have to get out and look.. They are out there.
Poor thing needs a wash! Looking forward to the show!
I wouldn't even wash it I'd fix everything else and run it like that lol
@@Vhiadra I sorta like the look of old rusty cars, but there is quite a bit of mold on the outside which could be dangerous to leave
I personally would still leave it, and are you sure it's not just moss? I find the car looks so cool old like that
@@Vhiadra uhhh,no frikkin way,it looks like a fetid ,stagnant swamp on wheels

Man, a nice pressure washing video with this car will be soooo soothing...
The mafia killed the owner
Trust that a dodge abandoned after only a year has already been taken away, other than 35 years
People stop driving cars like that for certain reasons that's why they get abandoned in that statee
Yeah but its still possible just a block away from my house there's an abandoned bmw
This is like the charger videos, absolutely my favorite ones. Glad to see that car getting a chance of reclaiming it’s glory!
Wow seeing the lights come on felt like being revived!!! Great stuff
God I'd love to work on this with you. You'll have a lot of fun for a long time. ;)

I'm ready to see these Challenger run
Nice car Dylan
Fermin Islas does he ever complete the project?
Luckly it was more oxidated more than rusty. And also, I've seen people put an a.c or heating in old cars like challengers, as well as a Bluetooth port so they could put on classics.
( Good idea but I'd prefer CD)
Just found this gem of a channel. Cant wait to catch up
Nice car. makes me want to get my 74 running. I'm about 80 miles west of you. Maybe we can compare them when we get them running, be blessed brother
“It’s straight besides the dents”. -Dylan. -Also me looking at every vehicle I own.

Cool to see the guys supporting each other. TH-cam car community is great!
Bradly Gray very much so! Appreciate you watching
I can't believe you dragged it into a garage without cleaning the mess off of it first for your own sake!
Air gun then power wash then air gun again and shop-vac that interior.
Memories for me, I had a '74 for 13 years.
Glad you rescued the car.
Don't understand why video's like this get dislike's when really it's an awesome video of an old challenger! Cool video bud.
That's awesome you found a 73' Challenger. Just got a 2018 one and its sweet. Love these cars.
This is why so many of these classic cars get sent to the junkyard.I hope he didn't let all his pets starve to death...
alllllll i’m saying is, the car looks amazing even after all thsi time pre restoration. it’s a beauty
Glad to see a young guy who like likes to do this stuff. We are a dying breed keep at it brother.
Brother, I'm blessed to see that you proclaim the Words of Christ through your works. I've been praying to Jesus about this myself too, and I'm thankful, blessed and inspired to have come across your video. Keep up the good fight, brother. Prayers with you.
I agree HunX Hun. God comes through in our lives if we let him. He works in strange ways some times, but he always has our best interests in mind.
Dylan.... put some gloves on messing wit that rust and pressure wash it before you bring it inside
London, uk
I love how interactive this is!
I cant believe how good of shape its in considering it sat outside all those years.
If it was Britain it wouldn't last even 10 years. The weather would eat it away
That car manages to look cool even in this poor condition ! 👍
I love videos like this. I think you're making the right call pulling it now... hope its something kind of simple...I'm rooting for this engine.
I don't know why people disliking this video but man I'm loving watching it
👍My sis has a farm outside of Munfordville KY. & just about every time I’m down in her neck of the woods I see vintage auto potential within every mile driven. Keep up the good work, D! Always a great time here. 👍🇺🇸
How could someone abandon this amazing CAR😔
Grandpa must've died and parked it there but died before he got to it again

@@babieuvlog7030 no one cares about that its about this car not your fucking TH-cam channel take that to something related to it
Are you kidding me?? Based on what I have seen online, that car is worth it's weight in gold!!
You know... now that you mention it, seeing as it was a custom order car it may even be a one off. Not really the kind of options that peak the interest of big money collectors or show goers but maybe a one off none the less.
I’m a HUGE classic Mopar fan. Love your channel!!
Wow! When the headlights turned on for the first time in decades! That was so cool!
My first car. 73 triple black, 318 and air. 14 years old. All I liked was
Is having the seats recovered. My 18 year old grounded sister snuck off in it to the store, put it on its top on the way back. 1984.
I'm liking this before it comes out heck ya dude
I always wonder why a guy doesn't run by the carwash with the barn find on his trailer and dump about $20 of quarters into making the car a WHOLE BUNCH more comfortable to work on. Blast off all that mold and dust and critter infestation before you start disassembly!
I was thinking the same thing. I could not work on anything that dirty.
rickerwill2
Agreed 👍
After what he probably paid for it he probably didn't have any money left to spare to clean it up I imagine he probably owes someone to payback what he had to borrow if that maybe the case .
I would love to see this fully restored pull up to one of the new ones and blow the doors off
To open the back trunk try using a flat head screwdriver first
My girlfriend had a '73 Challenger IN 1973. It was new off the showroom floor and it was beautiful! I miss her, but damn, I loved that car!
That's one sad Challenger. It must have been a beautiful car when it got parked up in 1984...
The lights work.

"I got your 10 second car"
Great video! I am restoring a 73 Rallye with a great pro shop near Frederick, MD. We are using components from a 72 base 318 car I bought in 1995 and tried to do myself. But as an amateur I was doing more harm than good and was over my head. The 340 for the Rallye is long gone but I will be using a bored out 318 a friend who raced sold me when he stepped up to a 360 for his Cuda - it is a nice engine; and this car will be a 4 speed. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos on this Challenger. Duane
I love that you talk us through what youre doing. Amazing
The dude standing over the winch line!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Nuts be gone if she snaps! Lol

I had a 73 challenger back In the early 80s.met my wife of 36 years in that car.

You have good taste
Cars and women 😎
I’m following this project and I know it’s going to come out great. Keep that enthusiasm going. The videos are awesome and very detailed. Very good 👍👍
They don’t make cars how they used to. Sadly, the last true pony car is the Challenger. That’s only because of it’s classic shape.
I enjoyed this video as much or more than any current car-related show I’ve seen on TV. Great job.
Sport mirrors was an option also buckets and console
These cars had a bench bucket seat also and 6 cyl could be had
Oddly, on these, buckets were standard. Bench was the option. But yeah, never seen a 3-speed with a console before.
Keep the videos coming! Hello from Australia.
In that spec, it's basically a Dart in drag.
@Curtis Fleabag The 74 Dart SE and Custom were well decked out cars for it day.
Darts were granny cars. Challengers were Daddy cars.
Really enjoy your videos, I'm watching the Challenger saga now. These cars are from my era, love seeing them renewed. Keep up the good entertainment. Thanks
3 weeks later,i thought they fix the engine and it was running but it was the tractor.
Beautifull classic!♥ it's nice that you save him!♥
17:45 I about died laughing. 😂😂😂
“Every time I’d open the hood, he’d fall out. I had a really fun time with that”
Goodness 😂😂
This leads me to a question, have you ever run up on a snake sitting inside a car?
Know a guy had I think 03 impala some kinda electrical issue ,replaced every electronic part on the car ,no engine code scanner ,still nothing , eventually thinking it must be computer pulls the battery out computer sits underneath in these cars ,finds a rats nest where they had chewed through some wires leading to computer, patched wires up, ran like a champ ..
