Just completed the sub-loop of Pontiac Polka (Ottawa, Ladysmith, Gracefield, Lac Ste-Marie, Wakefield) and yes these rolling farmlands are gorgeous and relaxing! Great series of videos! Thanks for sharing
@SaltyBeard_Adventures some suggestions from my country: 1) sulayr 2) transpirenaica 3) via de la plata 4) montañas vacias 5) camino del cid Come on Rob! Come to Spain!
They do.. it's the rail grade path, but everyone's gotta get to the cafe patio somehow. And on weekends, they shut down a section of road for bikes only (no bikepath along that section)
Yeah, I think 7-8 days is just perfect for this route. Shooting video takes up valuable time when going on trips ~ makes for long days and mediocre milage.
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures I can only imagine how challenging the additional time to film, set up the drone, and sort out the logistics of recording the journey must have been! We appreciate your efforts!!!
After all said and done, I was enjoying my ride too much and short on some footage... sometimes I just forget. Too busy smelling the roses. Need to up my game.
Covered bridges. When we tandemmed to Halifax from Montreal via the eastern Townships, we went off route one day in search of a covered bridge. But the road to it was closed, so we never saw it. On the way back to the highway, we encountered a puppy that insisted on following us (or running around us!). It was a puppy, but a NEWFOUNDLAND puppy and already as big as most dogs. When we got to the busy highway, we waited for someone to turn into the road we came in on, so we could ask them to take the puppy back. Fortunately I speak French so we could explain the situation when someone came by in a pickup. So we and the dog had an adventure. Not all dogs are so friendly.
No, not all dogs are friendly. I've had a few bites in my life. It was funny during filming because the lady and her dogs were not out 1 min prior when I set up my camera...
The hills are temporary. And be prepared for unsettled weather. There's lots of places to grab food, so enjoy those cool little towns, especially in Quebec, some awesome food. If you do camp at campgrounds, be prepared... I found them all a little pricy.
I do all my own stunts... LOL -- I create maps, overlays, etc, in my editing software Davinci Resove. Did you watch the Bike Packing BC videos.. those had my own hand painted maps, brought into the same software, with motion overlays, but built in spacial 3D so I could "fly" the viewer through the map.
Man you could make destination tourism videos with how good your editing skills are! Seriously excellent video.
Thanks, but I think I've got a ways to go. LOL
Great series. Love your visual story telling. So nice to see my region through your eyes. Take care!
Thanks, you too!
That was a great video series, good job. Looking forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Looks like a lot of fun. Well, maybe, except for the first day. But that's the price of admission. Good job taking care of yourself.
So true, there's always a stiff price of admission to pay, and sometimes you have to pay again after each intermission. 🤣
Wakefield needs some bike lanes 😂 cute town - summer biking destination looks like!

Looks beautiful man!
Thanks Tyler 👍🏼
This is so fun to watch! We took 7 nights and 8 days to ride it. It was very challenging, and consequently very rewarding:)

Thank you, it was fun to watch it. I just missed some camp-pictures to complete the whole thing. Next time?

Perfect timing
Scrambling to get this one out before heading on a 4-day fly-fishing weekend
Hello Mr. Salty! Any special recommendations for taking on the LDW? Thank you!
