I'm glad I ran across this. I have DCS, but I never use it because I got spoiled using real controls in real aircraft simulators. (Short backstory: I worked on Navy full motion flight sims for several years. After 4000+ hours flying them, I can't stand to fly anything with fake and incomplete controls. My eyes were not good enough to become an F-16 pilot, so my fallback was being an engineer.) I now know that when I buy these, they will work as I expect (I never expected to find inexpensive modules that looked and felt exactly like the real thing.) As well, my grandson wants to be a pilot. He's in 4th grade, is extremely smart, and has good eyesight. It might be time to get him started, and this helps a lot.
These also work in Falcon BMS. Well, the MFD's do. I don't have the ICP yet but it is next on my list. And I was an F-16 crew chief as well. Worked on the BLK 32s, 42s and we were bringing in the BLK 50 when I was getting out.
ICP and MFD are working fine in BMS! Simapp does not! I used Helios to export the screens and Falcon Loader to asign the keys. But after that, everything is working perfectly! 🤗
Thanks for your video, I was tempted and ordered the ICP WinWing. I've just received it and frankly the product is of very good quality. It's very pleasant to fly with it and the settings are really easy (I fly on BMS). After this first successful test, I'm now thinking of ordering MFDs, because they really change the flying experience. 😉
The full F-18 MIP is on my list for my cockpit build and I'm getting the F-16 ICP also. I already have 2 WinWing throttles one with the F-15EX grips and one with the F-16 Grip and have the F-16EX stick and Orion 2 stick base with extension as a centre mounted stick but also getting the F-16 based force sensing Orion 2 stick base to be side mounted just like the real F-16. My overall impressions of all the WinWing kit I have is that for the price point there is nothing better, you can go VKB or Virpil and these are also great bits of kit for their price points Virpil being slightly more expensive, but it's WinWings military look that I personally love, as DCS is my bread and butter when it comes to Flight sims. Yes I do have MSFS 2020 but it's more of a side sim for checking out places in the world i will probably never go to in real life. So WinWings kit being military based in looks is what I'm going for. I myself have not had any issues with faulty products and the kit I have feels Quality and has had no issues and I know many DCS pilots that have had some of their earlier products for years and are still good as new but I do know of one that has had an issue and I know that just like all other manufacturers they WinWing aren't perfect and some people do receive items that have issues (Thrustmaster, Logitech VKB and Virpil all do have faulty products that get past Quality control checks) and I'm not going to gloss over the fact that their customer support being based in China and not having any local support at their new world wide distribution points is bad at the moment, but they do their best to help by trying to get you to fix any issues with products you might receive yourself in your own home or correcting any software issues by directly connecting to your own PC via network connection, So they do make an effort here but if not fixable you are looking at arranging an RMA return which means sending it to China (at your own cost) not the local distributor warehouse you got it from, before getting a new item sent out as replacement. So you are looking at possibly weeks of not having your kit if you are unlucky enough to have received a faulty product that cannot be fixed at your house by you or over the network. This current solution for customer service is pretty poor, hopefully they will look at getting worldwide based depots that can actually deal with any faulty products via and RMA in days by having you send any faulty products to the local distribution point and getting a replacement sent out from there and get any issues dealt with in a few days rather than week at you own very expensive cost sending it back to China! All that said, this is my only concern with WinWing at the moment. They have consistently listened to the Consumers and updated their products looks and functionality since launching into the consumer Flight Sim market and seem to be focused on bringing a consistently better, improved and varied product lines to us all the time unlike some other manufacturers that have got stuck in a time loop (Looking at you Thrustmaster) and are still pushing products that are over 10 years old at prices that are ridiculous for products that haven't been up dated in decades.
Their SimApp pro is a little frustrating to work with (because if it works). I recommend to read up on general usage and forum posts of experiences using that software first.
Been away from the hobby for a while, just watched this today. Another awesome video. Thank you! I was looking into the MFDs earlier this year and decided against it due to the complexity (to me, anyway) install process. Looks like WinWing really streamlined it…I think even I could figure it out now. Thanks again for the walk through. Take care.
Great review, Jon. I love the comparison with the real thing. Too bad they didn't let you take them to the flight line. I'm glad you're enjoying WinWing's products! 🙂
Just a week ago I got the whole Winwing package, three MFD's, ICP, and UFC. Quality of the hardware is decent indeed and I have no complaints, but software still needs a lot of love. :D Switching screen exports between F-16 and F-18 needs a game restart which is a tad annoying, but with the third screen on F-16 displaying just HSI, it is not such a big deal to fly always in the F-18 configuration.
Yo thank you agian, I love this things. Winwing hit it out of the park with this. As always, a great review thanks, brother. I just ordered a set of theses fornthere black friday sale. I Saved about 130 dollars in 2 MFD and the mounts.
I went with Simgears ICP as I am in VR and needed something more real life to scale. the Only issue with the Winwing for VR is the ICP at the top. I have lots of other Winwing gear and love it. Wish they had done something more like they did with the F18 stuff
I have the 1st generation WW F-18 panels & they still work flawlessly after 3 years. I ordered the ICP last week, it should arrive in 2-3 weeks... It should fit nicely between the Thrustmaster MFD's. I used to export the displays to Fire HD8 tablets & had the darkness issue so I stopped exporting. Also the tablets weren't any bigger than the cockpit displays on a 50" screen so it was a lot of faff for no real gain, other than It looked cool as F!

Thank you so much for making this video because without it I would not have been able to install them (two left hands and only one brain half). The DED did not get exported to my ICP but I found the solution in the forums and it has to do with the export lua file. Then I could not figure out how to display the L and R MFD video because I use 2 monitors for DCS: the left one shows the view at 10 o’clock and the monitor in front of me shows the adjacent main 12 o’clock view and instrument panel. SimAppPro put the main instrument panel on the bezel between monitor 1 and 2 so the view was cut in half. I had to edit the monitor config lua file and select this one in DCS and ignore the SimAppPro warnings that it was not setup correctly. It took me an entire day to figure that one out.

In Europe, the warranty is 2 years and Winwing had difficulty accepting it. Some people of our community even reported their mishaps on Reddit, and they told us that Winwing had contacted them that they were finally going to do something on the condition of deleting the posts posted on Reddit. As a result of the behavior of Winwing, we feel that a certain anger arises towards Winwing and some people advise against purchasing Winwing equipment. It would be better to invest in equipment that is more reliable over time, even if you have to pay a little more for it.

I hope I don't, because that would be a big disappointment.
@@BogeyDope hello, I belong to a community of French-speaking players grouped together within an internet forum (several thousand registered players including a significant number of former soldiers from the french air force and french navy) and more in addition, more people are coming forward to tell about their misadventures with Winwing (equipment failure only After 2-3 months of usage and after-sales service response).
@@checkyoursix7401 That's unfortunate. I'm sorry your group is having that experience. I hope WinWing is correcting that permanently, if that's the case. Hopefully it doesn't become the norm.

It's a shame that SimApp pro was/is so bad I haven't touched my F18 MIP I got from WW in over a year now.
After a year the mfd buttons deteriorated to the point of not Being functional. Aside from that everything else worked great
Is the ICP is same as UFC ???
@@sniper_gamer_55Yes. The Navy calls there's the UFC.
@@BogeyDope ohhh thats why I remember I've watched operator drewski's video on the F/A-18c a while ago, he used the UFC term.
