The UFC/HUD is a really nice bit to have on its own, arguably more useful than an MFD if, you use your UFC for a lot of data entry. There's no problems just getting it piecemeal or just one part.

So to be clear, the 3 mode switch on the MFD only switches between three sets of physical buttons and dials and does not change the display to match? So that means you get 80 extra unlabeled buttons?
Yep it won't switch the monitor display image. This is a limitation of using the DCS export lua. It's more a feature for someone who only has one or two frames only, who suddenly needs another (eg the hornet's 3rd mfd)
Thanks Kite! Do you know if the winwing's Super Libra extended center mount fits with this installation? Can the extended stick still move all the way forward?
Hi, could you explain me how do you connect mfd screens to your pc please ? Hdmi câbles ? So you need 4 hdmi inputs in the pc ? One for the main screen and one for each mfd screens ? Thank you for your answer !
Will the UFC work nicely together with Thrustmaster Cougars? I already got those with handmade display behind it. I'm curious if the UFC responds if you change something with the Cougar MFD's
So you can use TM or even the mouse with the UFC. What i mean is a lot of what you do with the UFC requires inputs from the MFDs to enable, like laser code or starting co-ordinate entry. So without physical MFDs to go with the UFC, you'll be reaching for the mouse anyway, and once you're already there, it's easier to just use the mouse for the ufc too.
@@RedKiteRender Just to add a little further clarity, the Cougar MFDs would totally work with the WinWing UFC, as they are just buttons that are mapped in DCS. I'm in the same boat and thinking of going with the UFC first, then maybe the WinWing MFDs later.. of course, with the Cougar MFDs being smaller, they won't 'blend' as well with the UFC physically on your desk mount ;)

So... this is designed for the F-18... but F-16 simmers just need to "sorta-kinda" use it? Is it actually similar to an F-16 panel? (total noob here) Also, how does this intergrate with mixed reality VR? I only really want physical panels etc that would be constantly in use in the game. Which are those in the F-16? Thanks!
The TM MFD on my monitor is just adhesive velcro tape on the monitor frame and mfd frame. The Monitor Lua configs and setup with DCS is a matter too long to explain on a comment. Guides exist on the forums for that, not something I've covered in a video myself.
In BMS it's simple enough to do, being part of the mfd export. In DCS however it's possible, but requires a bit more work. You'd have to look it up on the dcs forums. (you can also export the DED)
A lot of us already have (expensive) sim gear. I asked Winwing if they thought about compatibility with Monstertech or Virpil or another brand who also have a center desk mount for the joystick. Their reaction: "we recommend WinWing products". I understand the reaction a little, but their market is the serious simmer. You would expect them to make sure their product also services VKB, thustmaster or Virpil users?
It's not a terribly surprising outlook. The units can mount to generic aluminium tracks, which i think mostertech mounts should be compatible with them (double check the measurements though!) And their hotas use the same mounting points as a TM warthog set. So, whilst things are not compatible with them, they're compatible with others to a degree. In an ideal world everyone would be openly interconnecting but protectionism / anti-competition can get in the way.
@@RedKiteRender true... but a man can hope. If their center console were to be attached to monstertecht, virpil and other mounts with an adapter, it would boost their sales significantly. I think few of us would replace $1000+ sim gear (with all the effort to make it work exactly as we want) because we also want the Main Instrument Panel. From a product management point of view (yes, I was one), opening the market significantly by creating 2-3 adapters would be the way to go.
Hello, I have a question, I have 2 monitors and most of the time I watch TH-cam videos while playing DCS. And recently I bought the Topgun MIP and did all the settings for it, but now every time I start the game the monitor on the right side just turns off. Do you have a solution for this?
Would be a lot weight for a tabletop mount without a wide clamp, but certainly would of been nice to have the option. Just setting up / removing the wires is hassle enough to negate the benefit of a single mount for 'quick' swapping in my opinion.
@@RedKiteRender good point but my ikea desk is already caved in abit from my virpil mounts, but they could of used 2 mounts but have it all still attached together by having them in between the side DDIs and the UFC/display panel, probably could come up with a solution quite quickly, how heavy are they compaired to the TM MFDs
I was going to buy the top gun mips for my f18. But I saw the legend mips and it looks like you can use it for both f16 and f18. - is that true for the legend?
I just recvd mine.. The units are great - but sim app pro is giving me a warm time.. The section where you configure the MFDs... There are 6 steps on the left side pane. Steps 1 and 2 checks "green".. Step 3 where you need to validate DCS world, user path and options.lua. These are "green" but the 3rd step still shows "red"... If I manually progress to step 4 - where you select the screens.. The MFDs are not present.. Only my triple screen monitors are available. When using the sim app pro under "MFDs.. Both my triple screens and DDIs show an ID number... Which tells me that they work.. Its just I can't get this software to cooperate... Very frustrating...
Only difference between models is the parts, they're all compatible, so just buy the bits you need individually and you can 'upgrade' to another preset.
Thanks for the info. I was worried if I went for the VR version I wouldn't be able to upgrade later. Though it looked like I could, you never know! Thanks again@@RedKiteRender!
how'd you get 6 monitors. do you have 2 video cards. most video cards will only render 4 screens max I've ready that the computer has to support DP Alt mode. Mine does not, so worried that usb monitors won't work for me. Asus ROG Strix B550F
3080 - Main, 2 sides and Index VR Motherboard onboard - Top monitor USB - 3x WW MFD displays. The USB displays do not count towards the limit, as they run their own software display drivers. Receiving both power and signal from the USB.
I'm going for a VR build, so the displays would be wasted on me. I would however like the UFC, though I would like something that would work across modules. The TM cougars work well for me in VR.
You mentioned something about some DDI controls are tied to the UFC or the other way around. Can the UFC be used with the standard TM Cougars? Looked to me like you were doing a majority of the UFC functions right on the UFC or am I missing something?
So you can use TM or even the mouse with the UFC, What i mean is a lot of what you do with the UFC requires inputs from the MFDs to enable, like laser code or starting co-ordinate entry. Hi! I see you were using all the cockpit in a table. Was it comfortable to have all of that in front of you? Was it blocking your view to the monitor? Also It seems your monitor it's a 24" or so and it seems you are really far away from it, so I was wondering you you had any problem identifying planes far away or something like that
28" main 17" outriggers. I've not had any issues with visibility, the shelf the montiors sits on is mobile, so i draw them close when playing, push them back when working as a desk. Didn't have any problems with the monitors being blocked either. (in fact normally there will be a microphone on top of the ufc as well!) But of course it'll come down to how your own setup is arranged. If my monitors were not raised with the shelf, yes, i could see the UFC getting in the way a little. Setup as whole is comfortable aside from the off centre joystick position, which ideally should be centred with the ufc.
They have a VR version which essentially is everything you see, but no screens. I currently am setting that version up right now. Biggest issue I am running into is the poor decision on Winwing's part to mount it exactly where my joystick mount goes. I am running fox mounts instead of monsterteck which means the aluminum extrusion material is too thin to mount panels. This means I am going to have to design a custom desktop mounting solution that allows for both my foxx mounts and the MIP. I will say the panels themselves are absolutely awesome, but the headache of mounting this defiantly leaves a lot to be desired. I have found that I have mounting issues with almost all of my Winwing products. I mean the units themselves are S tier, but then they only provide you with really crappy ways of mounting them.
Thank you for your review. But a lot of people had Bad experiences with Winwing After-sales services which didnt want to manage issues with hardware under warranty 😠. Some hardware had mechinal issue (internal parts that break ONLY after 2-3 months of normal use 😢😠😤) but Winwing After-sales service reply that the they did thousands of tests before selling hardware. So issues come from customers who do not use the hadware in a normal way. So some people spent hundreds of euros in hardware which becomes unsuable only After a few months. Winwing had now Bad reputation around me (french DCS ans BMS community)
I’m probably going to get just the ufc and one mfd because I already have a thrustmaster set of two and I’ve seen set ups where people just use a 24inch monitor and put their mfd’s on their with three separate windows
Really awesome and quality products by all indications. Only problem with this is that VR is impo the way to go for flight sims. In my experience on my own home built cockpit however the lack of viable hand tracking or even better, affordable mixed reality headset, operating UFC and MFD's is just not satisfying or effective. Yes you CAN perhaps manage to some extend with tactile markers pasted on buttons but still takes to long to get to the correct button by touch only. Main switches like landing gear flaps and some other is easy to work blind but not the UFC and MFD's so much...So really hope we get a good mixed reality headset for the consumer soon.
Is it possible to use those joystick/bezel with other games? I assume the USB instantiates as an HID, but how can my custom game know what button was pressed?
Has anyone heard if WinWing are going to make "dumbed down" versions of the F/A-18-UFC Unit1 and F/A-18-HUD Unit1, without the displays and illumination, for 100% VR use?
Redkite. Do you have any trouble pairing the winwing hotas with the thrust master pedals . I keep loosing my pedals connection. Well it’s still connected and recognize by my computer, but for some reason, they stop working on DCS? I wonder if the winwing software has something to do with this?
Shouldn't be any software conflict, however it might be a power supply issue. I'd always recommend you have your gear on an externally powered USB hub, USB can be a bit fickle otherwise.
No reason why it wouldn't, it's a usb game controller, nothing 'special' in that respect. Only concern is if Arma supports more than 32 button inputs per device, which being a relatively modern game i would expect it does, if not, you'll have to use the simapppro software to enable 32button limit work arounds.
I really dislike the rubber buttons. It feels like a remote control from the 90´s, no good feedback when a button is pushed all the way down or not. And they tilt to the sides if you dont press them dead center...
I ordered one. I'll have to msg them to see why they don't have support with their app for the a-10. Reason I went with this set is because of the app and not having to deal with scripts as I'm not familiar. But after hearing what you had to do does worry me a little.
It should work just fine, the SimappPro lua will setup a profile compatible with the A-10c for you. Most people seem to have it working, my setup is a little complex and may of confused their software as i have multiple display adaptors and drivers.
If you setup the panels for the hornet using simapp pro, then jump in the a-10, everything will work. The lua file is just generic and outputs the MFD (Left, right, center) and that naming convention is shared across multiple airframes. Worked on the radar page for the F-15 as well with no lua editing.
@@brettbonotto5840 The Tomcat is an exception having it's own lua export names, and the harrier, you have to press special keybinds to enable display export, but yep! Most modules work with a generic profile.
Anzac 5 seconds ago Hi Redkite. Thank you for this. I have my MPI all set up. And working fine. But one really annoying issue that seems to involve how Win 11 handles attached USB monitors. I set up the orientation (portrait) and placement of the 3 USB DDI screens in the Display Settings in relation to the main screen I’m using (LG 48 Ultragear 4K gaming monitor), apply it, synch in the SinApp Pro dashboard, and activate the DDIs. All good. BUT every time I restart the computer, it changes the display settings of my USB monitors, changing them back to landscape and placing them alongside my main monitor, not underneath it where I arranged it. In short, Win 11 Display Settings will NOT remember the previous display arrangements. Every time I start the computer, I must rearrange this USB monitors again. Extremely annoy8 g and I cannot find a solution on the web. Did you also have this problem? Any idea on how to fix? Thank you.
I've not come across that issue, however i am on Windows 10. It remembered positions just fine, even if you add or remove the display whilst on the desktop. Sounds like an issue with 11, I'd suggest asking microsoft support.

Ordered the Phoenix version, didn't feel like all of the controls without the screens was too bad of a deal for sub $500
Looks spectacular!
I don't fly the Hornet, but I would be very interested in an F-16 version. Are they making one?
They teased a filp over f-16 kit for the UFC but details are lacking atm, presumably still in development.
Hi, could you explain me how do you connect mfd screens to your pc please ? Hdmi câbles ? So you need 4 hdmi inputs in the pc ? One for the main screen and one for each mfd screens ? Thank you for your answer !
1 usb 3.0 for the display, 1 usb 3.0 or 2.0 for the frame x3 They come with a cable that converts them to usb 3.0 rather than hdmi.
@@RedKiteRender thanks. That s what i did. Frames are ok and lights on but screens are off. Do they need 1 more câble for alimentation ?
@@juju6431 The Displays need power from the USB, they're best plugged into a USB hub with external power.
Will the UFC work nicely together with Thrustmaster Cougars? I already got those with handmade display behind it. I'm curious if the UFC responds if you change something with the Cougar MFD's
I too am curious. Same situation here.
Grabbed one and it’s great. However for Australia, due to the way WinWing send it, add another $280 to the price for import and handling fees.

@redkite - mine is on the way. Im told the DDI's can line up with the UFC like in IRL in DCS. is that the case? thx
So... this is designed for the F-18... but F-16 simmers just need to "sorta-kinda" use it? Is it actually similar to an F-16 panel? (total noob here)
Also, how does this intergrate with mixed reality VR? I only really want physical panels etc that would be constantly in use in the game. Which are those in the F-16? Thanks!
Do you have a video on how you setup the thrustmaster mfd on monitor like that?
The TM MFD on my monitor is just adhesive velcro tape on the monitor frame and mfd frame. The Monitor Lua configs and setup with DCS is a matter too long to explain on a comment. Guides exist on the forums for that, not something I've covered in a video myself.
@@RedKiteRender thanks for reply I just watched a video on that resolution config and that’s super smart how you did that!
Is there a mean to export the F16 rwr on those screen or is it limited to the left/right mfd?
In BMS it's simple enough to do, being part of the mfd export. In DCS however it's possible, but requires a bit more work. You'd have to look it up on the dcs forums. (you can also export the DED)
3:02 - Try Windows Power Toys window snapping to make this more bareable.
My thought as well. Would work perfectly here
Thanks for the tip, i shall look it up!
Does all this work with VR enabled? I only use VR with passthrough view
good video
Hello, is there a tutorial anywhere about using these with Falcon BMS as you mentioned in the video? Thanks!
A general tutorial on display exports with BMS should have you covered, doesn't need to be specific to WW.
@@RedKiteRender Thanks for the reply. ) I appreciate you taking the time. Great content.
Is this posibile to use it on Su-25T? And whuch do you recomend? F-16 MIP or F-18 MIP?
is this working in Microsoft flightsimulator 2020
does it work in dcs multiplayer?
Hello, I have a question, I have 2 monitors and most of the time I watch TH-cam videos while playing DCS. And recently I bought the Topgun MIP and did all the settings for it, but now every time I start the game the monitor on the right side just turns off. Do you have a solution for this?
They should just make a complete cockpit like dlight deck solutions
How well does this work on star citizen
i would of preferred to see a mount or pieces to allow you to connect it all together in one package
Great video. Just curious how much of a FPS hit you took after installing?
How'd you get it to work with the A-10 @2:03?
Just use the hornet profile
@@RedKiteRender thanks!
I was going to buy the top gun mips for my f18. But I saw the legend mips and it looks like you can use it for both f16 and f18. - is that true for the legend?
The F-16 ICP has a bracket that allows you to slide it over the top of the Hornet UFC or stow it back out the way to use either as you need.
Can you upgrade a phoenix to a top gun MIP easily?
Only difference between models is the parts, they're all compatible, so just buy the bits you need individually and you can 'upgrade' to another preset.
Thanks for the info. I was worried if I went for the VR version I wouldn't be able to upgrade later. Though it looked like I could, you never know! Thanks again@@RedKiteRender!

@@RedKiteRender Perfect. Exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks
Thanks for showing your VR hands in comparison to the cockpit, guess they didn't get it perfect which is unfortunate.
OMG I Must Have it!!!
How does this work with the new Pure Scripts setting that ED have decided that we all needed?
very nice video
do they have one for the fighting falcon?
Is there any known replacement for the contact pads. esp those with texture to refine locating the center buttons in VR use case?
now if i could only use this and my VR headset at the same time
They have a VR version which essentially is everything you see, but no screens.
Is there a way to combine this while center mounting a monstertech desk mount for the stick ?
If the monster tech rails are the correct size, yes, you should be able to. Just check the WinWing's manuals for specs and measure your hardware.
@@RedKiteRender I have since switched to a Virpil set with Virpil brand table mounts. And now I'd have to repeat the same question.
Indeed, I would say it is very hard to use fingers without seeing them actually.
Is it possible to use those joystick/bezel with other games? I assume the USB instantiates as an HID, but how can my custom game know what button was pressed?
It'll act like any generic usb game controller input device, Unity for example should have no issue picking up on it.
Has anyone heard if WinWing are going to make "dumbed down" versions of the F/A-18-UFC Unit1 and F/A-18-HUD Unit1, without the displays and illumination, for 100% VR use?
Man I am glad this stuff exists, but at $825 holy cow. One day for sure, just not today.. Haha
Wish I could afford these.. :/ Sucks being poor
All I wanna know is if this will work with a game like Arma3. Cause it could make life much easier
No reason why it wouldn't, it's a usb game controller, nothing 'special' in that respect. Only concern is if Arma supports more than 32 button inputs per device, which being a relatively modern game i would expect it does, if not, you'll have to use the simapppro software to enable 32button limit work arounds.
Very nice gear, the price however is too steep imho. Great review!
I really dislike the rubber buttons. It feels like a remote control from the 90´s, no good feedback when a button is pushed all the way down or not. And they tilt to the sides if you dont press them dead center...
#WinWing should make a F16 set of panels, this aircraft is gonna become more popular soon, but not many are interested in the old F/A18
Win wing main panel mpl
I ordered one. I'll have to msg them to see why they don't have support with their app for the a-10. Reason I went with this set is because of the app and not having to deal with scripts as I'm not familiar. But after hearing what you had to do does worry me a little.
It should work just fine, the SimappPro lua will setup a profile compatible with the A-10c for you. Most people seem to have it working, my setup is a little complex and may of confused their software as i have multiple display adaptors and drivers.
@@RedKiteRender ok I'll probably find out after the holidays not certain on shipment time
If you setup the panels for the hornet using simapp pro, then jump in the a-10, everything will work. The lua file is just generic and outputs the MFD (Left, right, center) and that naming convention is shared across multiple airframes. Worked on the radar page for the F-15 as well with no lua editing.
@@brettbonotto5840 nice nice
@@brettbonotto5840 The Tomcat is an exception having it's own lua export names, and the harrier, you have to press special keybinds to enable display export, but yep! Most modules work with a generic profile.

Hi Redkite.
Thanks Redkite. I suspect as much. Appreciate the reply.
