I was today years old when I realized that Wayne Knight (Newman) is in both JFK and Basic Instinct and doing the same thing in those movies as he's going in the Seinfeld parodies of them. That's genius! :D
That's how it should be. Nowadays, most shows (not all) tend to talk down to the viewer and blatantly tell them where the references came from. Rick and Morty is a prime example of this.
The Seinfeld episode with the wedding in India, where events are presented starting at the end and leading backward in time to the beginning, is based on the movie "Betrayal" with Jeremy Irons and Ben Kingsley, which begins at the end of the story and ends with the beginning. The screenplay was written by Harold Pinter. A character in the Seinfeld episode, I think the groom, is named Pinter. This wouldn't be a side-by-side scene comparison, so doesn't belong in this collection, but it's another clever movie reference in Seinfeld.

I’ve watched every Seinfeld episode, some more than once, and I knew some of the more obvious movie references but had no idea there are so many. Thank you for this excellent video of enlightenment! Also, I never made the connection that Wayne Knight was actually in many of these Seinfeld scenes where he was the actor in tribute movie, like JFK-amazing.
One of my favorite scenes in Seinfeld is the ending of The Cadillac. I knew it was a reference to Nixon, but all I knew about was the wave. I had never seen the 'walk of shame' or the goodbye waves of the staff.
Something about that scene always makes me tear up. The original version and this side-by-side edit both hit me in the same way. It's a profoundly beautiful scene.
Maybe they could've done in episode where Newman tried to get rid of the dog that bothered Elaine, in sense that some bigger dog chase after Newman or something.
I don't know about the accuracy of this, but I read a long time ago that Wayne Knight was the first actor cast in Jurassic Park because Steven Spielberg watched the episode where his mail truck catches un fire and he starts screaming frantically. He immediately thought of Dennis Nedry screaming at the sight of dinosaurs.
At some point, Jerry should have said to Newman, “Our lives are in your hands, and you have BUTTERFINGERS?!” and cut to Newman eating a Butterfinger chocolate bar.
@@RafaCarrillo I think the flaming mail truck came after Jurassic Park. I say that based on the fact that Wayne was much heftier in Jurassic Park but was a bit lighter in the flaming truck episode.

Also in “The Race” in which Kramer is a mall Santa, there’s a reference to Miracle on 34th Street where Kramer tries to speak gibberish to the girl who doesn’t speak English
I'll add one I just saw. Season 5 Episode 3 - The Glasses. About ten minutes in, George who is blind as a bat without his glasses spots a dime across the room in Jerry's apratment mirroring that scene from The Great Escape with James Garner when Donald Pleasence's character pretends to see a dime across the barrack's room even though he has gone blind as a bat from all the forgery work he did.
Fantastic edit! Love all of Seinfeld’s brilliant film references! Considering The Graduate is one of Jerry’s favorite films, I’m surprised that in 9 seasons, they never once did a scene with Jerry behind a pane of glass yelling for Elaine.
Seinfeld recreating some of the most iconic movie scenes of all time as purely comedic is also peak absurdity. One could argue that this is what makes it fit so well.
Yaron, wow! I can’t imagine the time it took for you to make this video. The side by side comparison is immaculate! Never knew they were some many movie references in Seinfeld. Thanks to your great video now I know! :)

Seinfeld is seriously one of the best shows in history! This just adds another level to it that I didn't even really know about. There is not one single episode that doesn't make me laugh.
Great video! There are many more references in the show. For example: In "The Fatigues", the singles mixer fiasco is a reference for Platoon. When Kramer goes to Hollywood there is another reference to Sunset Blvd. when his old neighbor yells as he's going up the stairs.
Also Nicholson & Michelle pfifers "wolf" when Jerry start shaving his chest & comes in fuller & darker on a full moon .lol that payoff homage was aaauooo soo good.

That one was great!
Very good catch. I forgot that one.
And now I get that part. Thank you!
This was incredibly well done. Putting it side by side makes it undeniable. Really makes me wonder what Seinfeld would look like if it continued today and all the newer references they could cram in.
we need a revive show where Seinfeld retires on Florida and does lame stand up for the old people
@@ELEKTROSKANSEN no we need a gritty remake where they are in jail, Elaine story will be like orange is the new black. Kramer is now a drug addict trying to break his curse. Greogie is now a leader of a small gang on the inside, he is finally something and is scared of leaving it behind as his release date comes closer. Seinfeld is doing lame stand up. THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS.
You mean older :)
One of my favorite things about this show. Thank you, Yaron Baruch for taking the time to put this together
Thank you for watching!
I never put together that a lot of these were direct movies parodies, even from the movies that I've seen a million times.
Hell, I love JFK, and Seinfeld, and of course I knew that episode was referencing the movie.
But from whatever reason, I never put it in my head that Wayne Knight was playing the same role in both!
Same!
This was put together beautifully. The music matches with the scenes so well. What a video
There's one they forgot, although I'm not complaining because this is a great vid. He forgot to juxtapose Liam Neeson and Judge Reinhold (Schindler's List)
Thank you very much!
@@yaronbaruch Yes this was so great😅👍
Today is my mothers birthday. She is no longer with us. Seinfeld was always her favorite show and when I watched this I realized how much she loved it because all these references were from movies she watched. This brought me to tears thanks to who made this ❤️
Sorry about your loss Matt this is my favorite show and my mother is my best friend we're separated by 500 miles but I'd probably go crazy without her she's all I got.
@@tanganyikarichardson5588 thank you and that’s how I always was my mom was my best friend as well cherish every phone call every visit ❤️
🤣
Wow that's so beautiful seeing people have actual close relationships with their mother.
We live so far away and don't even know each other, but we both enjoy this great show that your mother loved. In a way she still lives whenever a movie reference makes you, me and so many people laugh.
Greetings
You did an exceedingly lovely job; your choice in the ending music track is absolutely brilliant. This gave me joy to watch!
There was a poster of a T. rex in Newman's apartment
Some more than once? Not a very good Seinfeld fan.
This is a masterpiece of editing. Well done mate.
Awesome. Surprised to see Cape Fear missing. One of the best Seinfeld movie references (Jerry! Hello!😂).
It’s too bad they weren’t able to get a Jurassic Park reference in to complete the Wayne Knight pantheon.
Yeah like a shaving cream/barbosal reference would’ve been pretty easy
I am a big Seinfeld watcher and that's alot of movie references I didn't know they did. Amazing and thank you.
I haven't commented on a TH-cam video in at least a decade but this is superb. Your commitment to score the video, link the movies in different ways with different edits is incredible. This could have been the worst fan video but I tip my hat to you, it is a masterpiece, you glorious bastard! Love from Dublin, Ireland
Eooooo check you out non TH-cam commenter :)
Magnificent bastard.
Thank you for your comment😇 I am the first one to agree. All the best from the state of Virginia.
This was masterful. I basically have memorized every episode of Seinfeld, and now my watching has new meaning :) Thank you for this!
This compilation is gold , Jerry. GOLD!
Also in “The Race” in which Kramer is a mall Santa, there’s a reference to Miracle on 34th Street where Kramer tries to speak gibberish to the girl who doesn’t speak English
oh yeah!!! that one is so good, good call...i always laughed....
Also the obvious an numerous calls in that episode to the Superman movie franchise from that episode.
"Santa speaks the language of all children! Snorchy dorchy dorchy Doo"
There was also the OJ trial where they had the Braless Wonder try the bra on over her clothes. It needs to be right up against the skin!
@@andrew1019 “A bra has to fit up right against a person’s skin.... LiKe A gLoVe!!!” -Jackie Chiles.
Good pick-up never made that connection.
@@harryd1664 well maybe its because youre...
blind as a bat.
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
It was a pin that Pleasence saw.
@@liduck52 You're right, of course. After 50 years the memory tends to get a little unreliable.
Good catch!
Fantastic edit! Love all of Seinfeld’s brilliant film references! Considering The Graduate is one of Jerry’s favorite films, I’m surprised that in 9 seasons, they never once did a scene with Jerry behind a pane of glass yelling for Elaine.
this was sublime
Hope you’re well !!!!
Hope to get more scene comparisons Fam.
Blessings
@@JediKnightmare I'm well! But no new videos! Thanks!!
It was superlime!
Just like Kramer's buttocks
@@SceneComparisons good to read from you, I miss your videos, stay well!
The ol’ “isn’t cinema wonderous” music playing against Seinfeld’s goofiness is peak absurdity.
Seinfeld recreating some of the most iconic movie scenes of all time as purely comedic is also peak absurdity. One could argue that this is what makes it fit so well.
Casablumpin - did you paint your avatar? It’s pretty cool! It’s from “Boardwalk Empire” if memory serves.
The writers of this show were brilliant, but so is Yaron for finding all these references.
I think you're amazing 😗👍
I had no idea that the shower head for elephants was a reference; how perfectly subtle and well done!
Yaron, wow! I can’t imagine the time it took for you to make this video. The side by side comparison is immaculate! Never knew they were some many movie references in Seinfeld. Thanks to your great video now I know! :)
Always loved Seinfeld, but my appreciation just went up a notch.
I love how Newman is doing both JFK and Basic Instinct re-enactments.
Feels like the type of high-production cinematic montage you'd see at the Academy Awards. Well done!
You left out the ending of when Jerry has to scratch his chest in a Wolfman parody
It was more of a homage to Wolf with Jack Nicholson which had come out a couple years earlier
@@bink I just commented this and was hoping someone else caught that one :)
@@Shapes_Quality_Control Saw it in the theater instead of Lion King... as good as the latter was, I stand by my decision.
@@bink I like Wolf a lot but as good as the Lion King? Hmmm.....
@@Shapes_Quality_Control Lol I think you misunderstood, I didn't mean it was as good as The Lion King, just that The Lion King was really good. Despite that, I don't regret seeing Wolf. Two very different movies intended for very different audiences but I did end up watching Lion King way more than Wolf.
I've seen every Seinfeld episode multiple times and I didn't catch a lot of these. Thanks!
I've only seen a couple of those movies.
Me too, these are like Easter eggs.
Me neither, I got a few but most of these came as a surprise, the attention to detail it’s incredible.
I was going to like your comment; but, I have a very juvenile rule against liking if it will change the total from 69.
This was fantastic!!! Really appreciate the production...seeing them all together was one thing but with the original clips!! Wow, great job!
Really really great
@@mjokeeffe7801 Are you related to Dan O'Keefe, the writer whose dad invented modern day Festivus?
@@CarynDPrescott no but I love what a coincidence that is
This was VERY well done.
Thank you for taking the time to make this happen.
So glad I found this compilation. I’ve watched the entire series of Seinfeld probably 20 times and a lot of these references went over my head because I’ve never seen the corresponding movie. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for watching!
I think there’s a movie reference to Cyrano when Newman is hiding behind a bookcase and feeding Kramer lines to flirt with Pam.
yeah, but it's more of a play than a movie, so it didn't make the cut for me
@@yaronbaruch There is a wonderful (french) movie with Depardieu (when he was good), by Jean Paul Rappeneau. very well worth a watch
@@yaronbaruch also referenced in Steve Martin’s Roxanne I think
This is so great! I'm a huge Seinfeld fan and instead of explaining the references to my husband, he watched this with me so now he gets it lol I'm so happy this compilation exists! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Am I the only one that felt like crying at the end? That was beautiful.
So many great references and Easter eggs in Seinfeld. Larry David is a comedy genius. Thanks for this!
Larry David and Seinfeld
That Godfather II reference "Where I come to play with my toys" made me laugh! A brand new laugh from Seinfeld, thanks, man!
Love how it goes deep with Wilfred Brimley reprising the character .... thanks for making this video
You're a fantastic editor and movie buff. Thank you, man, really. One thing though, I wanted to see the reference of the movie "Platoon" with Frank cooking for his platoon in the war. I mean it was a bit on the nose, they even used the same music but still, I loved that scene.
This is absolutely incredible. I definitely knew some of these references but I had no idea there were so many! I'm already a fan of the show and have been for many many years, but this just makes me appreciate it so much more--to know how deep some of the humor goes. Thanks for putting this together.
He missed some including visiting hours
Platoon when Kramer asks George’s dad why he won’t cook the Jewish food, and Frank’s recollection of the troops he cooked for..
Yeah, but it's not similar enough to the original scene
Haha, yes one of the best in the business.
Jerry Stiller, may he rest in peace.
@@yaronbaruch someone mention Schindler's list. With the close talker...that one was 🤣
@@yaronbaruch uses the same music, it seems to be a reference
@@fajita2 yes I think it does 'reference' the movie also, not an interpretive re-creation (right word?)...
This makes so much sense now! There were times watching Seinfeld where I just didn't get it or like I wasn't in on an inside joke!
Had no idea there were so many references to movies.
Thank you for this! Very well done! 😊
Some I got most went over my head. The show about nothing. Just keeps giving
Was it comedy or brainwashing?
I love this so much!! It’s gives more reason to be impressed with the details and Easter eggs they sprinkled throughout the seasons
Thanks !
Thank you for putting these together. They say it's never too late to learn new things and I'm learning new things after more than 20 years later.
This video. Is funny, interesting and melancholic. (The music did it) All at the same time.
Seinfeld and all their creative team were geniuses.
The person who put together this video is quite talented too. Thank you!
Seinfeld is seriously one of the best shows in history! This just adds another level to it that I didn't even really know about. There is not one single episode that doesn't make me laugh.
Well, it is a sitcom...so there's that. 🤣
Nice, Yaron. Great reminder for me of the fun I had creating cinematic score for our more elaborate movie pastiche scenes.
You did an amazing job!
Great video! There are many more references in the show. For example:
In "The Fatigues", the singles mixer fiasco is a reference for Platoon.
When Kramer goes to Hollywood there is another reference to Sunset Blvd. when his old neighbor yells as he's going up the stairs.
the old lady in Kramer's Hollywood episodes was a reference to Baby Jane from Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Part 2 needed! 😊
I'm pretty sure they referenced Cape Fear with a dream sequence of Uncle Leo doing pull-ups in prison.
@@therobz JERRY! HELLO!
Also Nicholson & Michelle pfifers "wolf" when Jerry start shaving his chest & comes in fuller & darker on a full moon .lol that payoff homage was aaauooo soo good.

💯 yes!
"Everybody's talkin' at me. I can't hear a word they're sayin'. Just drivin' 'round in Jon Voight's car."

Don’t you mean “John Voight”. Lol
Oh you mean John Voight the periodontist??
And this is his pencil!
This was so amazing! Great editing and score! Seinfeld is the best show ever written. Thank you for this:)
I never even realized The guy who played Newman was in JFK that makes this joke even more hilarious
5:36 love how Newman arguably had a more bad ass appearance than the actual movie
Holy crap I totally forgot that Wayne Knight was in JFK and in the exact same position during the reenactment. You just blew my mind.
And Basic Instinct
This was great! My wife and I are always watching episodes during dinner together. They never get old and the movie references are icing on the cake!
Seinfeld a masterpiece of comedic genius. The nuances to movies sublime. Yaron quite the accomplishment and dedication to enlighten us Seinfeld fans. Thank you.
I love cinema and I watched Seinfeld back in the day and I was unaware of this. I like Seinfeld even more after watching this. And the person who did the editing is really good. Noticing the reference and finding the movie and the scene...that's awesome.
After 23 years, no one is still close to Seinfeld.
The greatest sitcom ever created.
It's hard to outdo old shows without redoing what's already been done.
IASIP gang attack
Agree. There will never be another show that comes close to this
Community was a vastly superior collection of pop culture references, social commentary, and political satire, too, than Seinfeld.

I didn't know almost any of these sequences were references. This just makes this show even better.
Man, that "Duck Soup" reference is a deeeep cut.
Also, Wayne Knight should win an Oscar for his ability to switch from drama to comedy. Hey: Jonah Hill did, right?
