So you’re saying there’s a chance … is just philosophically so positive and encouraging, which is a theme of the movie. It’s dumb but without being condescending or cynical. Genius.
It looks like the makers of the documentary had access to the "dailies" - unedited pieces of film from the shoot. Check out 3:00 to 3:15, it's just a shot from one camera, literally a couple seconds of that "recording" was edited into the movie....so they're not really even deleted/alternate scenes, they were just made available to the editors of this specific documentary. Super interesting nonetheless, especially the shots that aren't even part of any scene.

Watching this film for the first time was one of lifes magic moments. 1994, 23 yrs old, living a beautiful hedonistic life & then Watching this with my best friend. Being stoned for a film was a default setting. Then being completely overcome with laughter, watching your mate struggling to breath & to have to leave the room to get air was a joyous memory of which, as you get older, you realise is very rare & very special. Wonderful.

I have seen many comedy movies during my life. But I can honestly say never have I laughed watching a movie like I did when I saw this masterpiece of a movie dumb and dumber. I laughed so hard and much that I was honestly getting tears in my eyes. And the funny part was that I was watching it for the second time.
The first time I watched Dumb and Dumber, I couldn’t understand why people thought it was so funny, but years later, my daughter and I are quoting lines from it constantly. It has a ‘brilliance in simplicity’ feel to it, and the pairing of Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels was a stroke of genius.
Best movie ever! I will never forget the first time watching it With my whole family, laughing until we cried. I wish I could go back to that moment. Thank you to everyone that was apart of it.
I had a VHS tape that had both The Mask and Dumb & Dumber on it, back in the day. Not a recorded one, a store-bought one. And I watched that baby so many times I couldn't even tell you. Mask is still my favorite, but Dumb & Dumber was not far behind. Doesn't matter how smart you are, if you can't laugh at something as goofy as Dumb & Dumber, you've lose the sparkle in your eyes.
I died laughing at 13:34 at Harry walking down a road and a Indian in a pickup truck throws a bag of garbage at his feet and the camera pans up to Harry who's now crying. Only us older folks will probably understand that bit. Back in the 1970's there was a serious TV commercial of someone in a passing car tossing a bag of trash out the window and it lands at the feet of a Native American who is crying because of people polluting the land. To see a reverse version of this commercial was absolutely hilarious.
Amazing story of faith beating systematic rejection- like Elf,-another gem. So many folks have lost their sense of play. Great line by Jeff Daniels: "the last time I looked, the greeks were holding up two masks- Tragedy and comedy should be balanced. " Well that movie restored the balance for a few years all on its own.

As far as the Providence exterior scenes, the Sheepdog Van really was on Providence highways(RI-146 North & I-95 South). The Limo was driving down South Main St. in Providence, while it was under major construction in the opening credits. The airport scene was shot at Salt Lake City International Airport. Jim and Jeff never were in Providence during the movie.
The music also was like the cherry on the cake. It was super fun at times and still dramatic at times during the movie. I liked the aspect of the road trip feel too. It feels nostalgic. Seems like that was more popular in the 80s-90s movies.
There are a few scenes in movies and shows that make me laugh so hard I can't breathe:" Dumb and Dumber" when Jeff is on the toilet, "The Office" when Dwight cuts the face of the CPR dummy, and "You, me and Dupree" when Owen gets hit by the bus. They get me every time, despite seeing them at least a dozen times.
Oh man they showed this in the college dorms back in ‘96 and when I watched the toilet scene I broke out laughing so hard I ran out of the building! Good times!
It's a movie that combines comedy with adventure. When you put it on, you can forget all your worries because you know you're in for a stupidly great time.
Ive never found a movie so funny all the way through. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are perfect. Not only that when my partner and i first met this movie was literally our first conversation. I happened to write on my profile how it was my favourite comedy and my partner since jan 2021 messages me and said how she was immediately reminded of a memory of watching it at the cinema and people telling her to shut up as she was laughing so loudly and threw candy at her. :)

I once passed a Spanish class in High School because of extra credit given to my buddy and I after recreating about 10 minutes of Dumb and Dumber in front of the class. The Spanish teacher was also the drama teacher. This will be my favorite comedy until I die
The girl hit man taking a piss on the side of the road and still talking to the other henchmen was a nice touch. Seems even though they cast a women instead of a man they didn't change the script. I still giggle at that part every time. Love this movie. The extended version is where it's at. Harry attempts to pour the toilet out the window. Hahaha
"So your telling me there's a chance" is a line still used today by so many. A timeless classic!

Jim and Jeff never were in Providence during the movie.
hey guys! big gulps, eh?...

One of my favorite parts lol.
I still use that line to this day... and I think only one person actually got the reference.
Big gulps huh? Alright

Say that line.to my partner almost everyday at work.when he stops at 711
Thank god everything worked out the way it did, we are all blessed and better for it.
Top 5 comedy ever IMO. Can watch it over and over.......
I saw this in ‘94 when it came out...to this day I have never laughed harder at a movie.

Mrs wilson 🎶have you heard🎶....
🎶and if that mocking bird don't sing🎶

Im so glad this movie came out. As kids we would always joke around at school with parts of this movie. Best ever!
Jim and Jeff are great together one compliments the other. My favorite part is the sword scene . Brilliant comedy at its best
The music also was like the cherry on the cake. It was super fun at times and still dramatic at times during the movie.
I liked the aspect of the road trip feel too. It feels nostalgic. Seems like that was more popular in the 80s-90s movies.
I always thought Jeff Daniels and Dave Coulier were the same person.
😵😵😵😵😵😖🔫
Both are Michigan boys.
Come on...Cut ..it ..out
"THERE ya Go"! (thank you sah)
"THERE ya Go"! (thank you sah)
"THERE ya Go"! (thank you sah)
"THERE ya Go"! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣#Classic
Master piece ever. Greatness.
Top 10 best movies of all time in my 50 years... would’ve liked to had seen Jim’s take on it. Hang in there Jim...Canada still loves you! 🇨🇦
I LIKE IT ALOT LOL !!!
8:40 "I don't caaare!" 😂😂😂😂
This is my favorite movie ever. I just watched it again yesterday for probably the 20th time.
When my friends don't get why I wanna meet a chick from Tinder, living 200 miles away:
''So I wanna go somewhere, where I know some body, who can plug me into the social pipeline!''
I've quoted this so many times and no one ever gets it!
@erinbeepbeep5238 "I don't get it?" "No, and I don't CARE!!!"
I remember my cousin telling me that when he saw it in the movie theatre he fell onto the floor holding his stomach, he was laughing so hard
"Just give me the damn number!!"
Hahaha
