    The #JeepRenegade is the smallest #Jeep in the US lineup. Built off the same platform as the Fiat 500X,
    the latest #Renegade has been refreshed for 2020 with a new design outside and a new turbo engine under the hood.

    I have a 2015 with 50k. I worried about reliability but I've been driving it since December 2015 so I was obviously one of the first to purchase one, and almost 6 years later I've had no issues. I have the 1.4 Turbo Sport, with the manual transmission, which I think is the only way to go. Unfortunately they don't offer a manual any longer. All of the online reviews i watched back in 2015 bad mouthed the automatic, and I've driven manuals forever anyway, so glad I steered clear of that 9 speed. I do hate paying for the higher octane level of gas but this little turbo has lots of pep, and believe it or not I AVERAGE 30mpg. If I replaced it today, I doubt I would go with another Renegade, but so far it's been a great little vehicle.

    I drive a 2019 for almost a year now. The limited with the 1.3 turbo engine. It is very economic. 1 litre = 16 km (37,6 MPG) No issues sofar, zero. I know a couple of other renegade owners via a forum i can not say that I hear a lot of issues sofar. I don't get all the negative reactions on this car, it must be trolls or something who never owned a car or bought a used one with malfunctions.

She is a robust car! Only because is build in Italy doesn't mean that is a crap! And one thing more: *I'M ITALIAN*, I'm feel very offended now.... Jeez! I'm tired about of this hate about our stuff!!!

      In the US Italian cars have a very poor reputation, especially Fiats. I'm actually starting to wonder if the US gets all the lemon Renegades and everyone else gets "good" ones because it seems like non-American users have much more positive experiences and views on the Renegade than Americans.

    My fiancé talked me into getting a 2017. PILE OF CRAP. We lost a ton of money on it and ditched it after a year. Computer fried. Inner driver door handle snapped off. Hatch sounded like it would rattle itself to death after a few thousand miles. We got maybe 17 MPG average. And that 9 speed transmission isn’t fit for the junkyard it’ll eventually end up it.

    • @timberw1lly
      @timberw1lly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had a 2015 Limited. It was cheap when I bought it as I was trying to get out of a lease. MPG was horrific - I was filling every 3 days driving 45 min one way to work every day. The 9-speed transmission is a pile of hot garbage. Trading it in for a 2016 Mazda6 Grand Touring was the best decision I made.

      I work around used 15-16s a lot and they start to fall apart around 70-80k miles. I don’t know the history of them though, so maybe you’ll have better luck if you follow proper maintenance. I feel like the people buying these usually have bad credit and can’t get approved elsewhere so they end up with high payments and no money left for maintenance.

      Many years back? They came out in 2016... I've had 2 500x's, both have been perfect. First was a 2016 Easy which I drove across the country and put 60,000 miles in 2 years, my current one is a 2018 Trekking Urbana which I've also taken cross country. Yes, the ZF 9 speed leaves a lot to be desired, but do regular maintenance and it will treat you well.

      My dad bought one new in 2016 and it has 76k miles so far. 2.4L 9 speed. No problems. The transmission isnt the best, it searches for gears too long and can be a bit jerky but has been solid so far. Being a car enthusiast I wasn't too happy with his choice but it's held up surprisingly well.

Where does the weight come from? A Rigid platform with better welds and stampings because of it has to be able to lift wheels of the ground during off roading and not split the car in half ? Do research on why jeeps are heavy and German feeling before you talk shit. If you want a tenny tin can feeling car. Then Toyota is just for you.

    I test drove one of these back in the fall of 2019, looking to upgrade from my base model Kia Soul. Jesus Christ I don't see how anyone could buy one of these - the engine was extremely underwhelming and that 9spd is literally the worst transmission ever put in a car. The transmission was constantly shifting, always trying to find the right gear to be in regardless if I were modulating the throttle, braking, or drove 100% smooth & steady. I'd much rather drive a Nissan with that god awful Xtronic CVT than this, don't even think about buying this car.

      My work had a Renegade in back in 2018 and the person that returned it was complaining it wasn't shifting right. Took it for a drive on the highway and the transmission was on its last legs. Car only had like 20k miles. Nissan's CVTs which is the same Subaru uses have come a long way since they first came out. Our 2012 Quest went 150k miles hauling heavy loads before trading it in and still ran like new. FCA is garbage and always has been.

    I tested one of these before the shutdown in my state and my opinion of this “renegade”. Oh my what can I say without needing to bleep? I had to bend down like Quasimodo to get into the cargo area. Front part felt ok. Overall I felt like I was riding in a refrigerator box on a wooden crawler. The Cherokee attitude I tested felt more firm in ride and more ease of maneuvering around a city bus in rush hour traffic. Calling this Jeep a renegade is like calling the Nissan calling their crossover a rogue and rogue sport. And yes I drive a rogue sport.

    I don't know how ZF could build such horrible 9spd transmission when the ZF 8 speed is a superb transmission. I wish they would make a front wheel drive version of the ZF 8spd.. Even the old 6 spd Chrysler transmission is better than this 9 spd.

    • @pilskadden
      @pilskadden 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might also have something to do with how Jeep has programmed the transmission - maybe to compensate for the lack of power from the engine. I have driven the ZF 9 speed in a Jaguar E-pace and it was just fine. Of course it had a more powerful engine with 250 hp so that might have something to do with it. No need to shift as much.

    • @windanthonystream
      @windanthonystream 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr MMJ Acura also use the ZF 9 speed and they have had issues with this transmission as well, even though they have programmed it better, it still has lots of flaws.

    • @mike65611
      @mike65611 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ZF 9 speed is an excellent transmission, the problem is this is a copy of that which FCA has a license to manufacture from ZF and is made in Michigan, it’s a total pos due to typical FCA cost cutting.

    I have always like these but damn $30+K, no thanks. I would rather take the upcoming 2.5ltr crosstrek or base forester. They might not be as off road worthy but plenty capable in some basic dirt trails and such or for camping, etc. For snow, the subies do just fine as I have owned several and always took them out in bad storms and they were always fun and capable, even with the CVT's, which are not my preference but they do their job just fine in MOST situations. Subaru's prices are definitely more enticing, if you stay with premium or base models. Bells and whistles, eh, just more stuff to go wrong down the line.
