On my second Renegade.. had a 2020 Limited for 4 yrs, and just got a 2020 Trailhawk on a deal. Yes, these are reliable, and surprisingly rugged. Like the video creator said, which is my only con also, is the gas mileage. And I have a coworker with a 2015 with 270,000 on it. All original. So, with proper upkeep. You can get the most out if it.
A couple items. 1) if you are going to seriously off-road make sure to get some skid plates. 2) with the 2.4L engine watch your oil! They can use a quart between oil changes or none at all. 3) saw a sweet jeep sticker in Oatman, AZ. The J and P were pistols and the e's were hand grenades. Keep enjoying
It's my son's now, but my '18 Renegade Trailhawk took 4 of us to Telluride (twice). I just bought some rooftop crossbars and a rooftop box and it was a perfect companion in the snow. I drove into Telluride via 145 in a snowstorm and with a set of Falken AT Trail tires, the little Jeep was unstoppable and as sure footed as if it was dry. Same think headed back south to Durango via 550. Some of the steep grades may have dogged the 2.4 a little but the jeep always felt in in its element. So, as long as the family is just 4, the Renegade is great. It truly is one of the best all-weather vehicles I've ever driven specifically because of the drive mode calibration, independent suspension, size and handling.
Guess what folks any machine will have it's end one day. But as you upkeep your maintaince it should reward you with years of pleasure. I've noticed every car has a good review & a bad one. Buy what's in your heart. I'm enjoying my 2024 Renegade Limited - no problems thus far....😊
You can get a manual renegade in the states but with the 1.4t awd or front. I’m looking at getting one. But the manual only come is the sport or the latitude models
Lift kit that works, it’s a 1 inch lift spacer kit from Italy and with spring 2inch total and use a Opel corsa front sway bar link, a little longer. Had a alignment 5 year ago no problems, everything is quite No rattling and straight no uneven wearing of rubber.
I'm thinking seriously about getting one. I had a 2015 Dodge Avenger and want something that sits a little higher. They have always caught my eye. This helps a lot.
My wife got a 2020 Renegade new and we have put 70,000 miles on it and the only issue we had was a coil pack. Spent 70$ and replaced all the plugs and coils. We get about 30mpg these days. New it was getting around 26mpg. Since it is a front wheel biased all wheel drive and has independent front suspension, it handles better on icy and gravel roads far better than my wrangler. I don't get my Wrangler out until the snow is a foot deep or better.
I have a 17' Renegade and love it. Mine is front wheel drive, which was strange at first but i still love my Lil Tater! Mine actually needs a thermostat, which the part is $46, but its a 3 hour job and the location is ridiculous....$300 labor...uuuggggg! Love your videos! Are you doing Duck Duck Go?
agree. I'm the same way. have one brand of car for a while, then change it up to something else. variety is the key. I've had a different brand of car every time I bought a new car. starting with Nissan Sentra, Honda Accord, Acura integra, nissan 300zx, bmw m3, Merc c230, Ford Mustang GT, now getting a renegade as a daily to my mustang
I recently got a 17 altitude with the turbo 1.4 and a six speed manual. Better on gas than I expected and was easier to park than my crew cab long bed Ram.
Oil consumption is a serious issue on the tigershark 2.4. Additionally, the ZF 9HP transmissions are not robust. Speaking as a former owner of a loaded 2017 trailhawk.
I always thought my Renegade's MPG was lower than advertised (17-19 city, 24 highway). Then I took the family on a trip to Canada and everything changed once I got out of the mountains in my state. I went almost 300 miles before filling up. And it was the first crossover I found that could tow my popup.
I just went from a 2013 Dodge Avenger to a 2017 Jeep Renegade... The only con for me is it don't go fast off the line like the Avenger but other then that I love it...
Talk to Industrial Chassis Inc about the sway bar end links. He usually does dakotas, but he might be willing to make a solution for the trailhawk. He corrected the end link geometry for lowered dakotas.
The Outlaws are great. My major mod. Not a mechanically type of person and cost me almost a grand to install them. Yeah but still love them. I'm sure you can put them in on your own.
@AdventureGT got my 2.0 td and loving it!!!! Is standard and took it off road! Im blown away but its capability. Went 55mph over a field and soooo smooth. Climbed dusty hills and banks no problem. Just wait till i modify it. Yehhhh baby
Love that colour and I think it's the best one for it. There's one in mybtown the same colour as yours I've been eyeballin but it's sitting at a mechanics shop with a 60 day tag so Idk if it broke down or somethin.Great video and now I want to get one.
My Cherokee Trailhawk is at the dealership getting the PTU replaced, so they gave me the Renegade as a loaner. The PTU is very very back ordered, so I’ve have it for 2 months and they just told me it will be at least another month, so I have been able to get pretty familiar with it. Here are my thoughts. I actually don’t mind the size. Yes it has a lot less room than my Cherokee, but in some cases that is a benefit. The fuel economy is much better. I drive in town just about all day and I get between 25-26 mpg. I think l that is actually pretty good! Offroad it’s actually a little trooper! I’m surprised how well it sucks up the bumps! The only downside I would say I’ve noticed is the power. It can be pretty gutless! When I punch it, because I need it to go, it really disappoints. All together I think it’s a pretty cool little vehicle.
I got a used 2015 trailhawk and first year i spent around $3k fixing it up. On my 2nd yr and so far so good. Was thinking about lifting it but read to much forums fb groups with ppl having trouble with sway bar links and cv axles after lifting theirs. Lift might have to wait as it is my daily driver and dont want to have to worry about constantly changing parts.
@AdventureGT yeah, I also have toyota sienna with 250k miles that might go out soon, so once I find another vehicle then I might plan on lifting my renegade. Love the channel and all the info u pump out, keep um coming.
I’ve had jeeps my entire life and I’m 2015 when I first saw one I thought. That little thing looks cool. I ended up getting one 5 years later. It’s a shame what happened to them from 16-18, but I solved the oil probably with using Lucas and after two years of using Lucas every oil change and in between. Now it doesn’t use a drop
i think ppl need to realize not all cars just blow up cuz they’re bad cars, some cars just require a little extra love like the renegade, just keep up with the maintenance it’s not one of those cars u can go months without taking care of it properly
I can't think of the name of the top of my head but they clean the windshield with no problem. I have them linked in my 2022 pod light video if you want to check them out
I got a 2018 renegade with 24,000 miles. Everything about it is amazing. Only complaint and I’ve heard from a few owners also is the transmission feels weird when shifting at low speeds. Did you ever notice it?
What size tires are on that renegade? Also was thinking about getting a hitch and I saw the video you made installing yours. Was wondering if that one is worth it
I'd say yes it's worth it, considering the alternative. If you're planning to use the trailer hitch then I'd say, do it. It does take some time and cost a decent amount but I think it's worth it.

I have had great luck out of Jeeps and fords. My 95 wrangler had 360k on it when I sold it and ran like new and I gave that thing hell. My GC had 295k when sold and my Renegade is approaching 100k. I keep having to put oil in time to time but not much. I would not get another one but I love mine for now. Also Kia has joined the reliable 3 that I will stick with from now on.
