How do they itirate these chips so fast?? M3 only just came out
Imagine if everyone just waited 2 days and then made comment when products are actually released
These TH-camrs need to make money to feed their family :)

Bye you won’t be missed

This all makes sense to me. BUT, if these new iPad Pro’s drop with M3 still it will be such a buzz kill!😂
The M3 in iPad Pro just will make a lot of problem for them, the M3 have only half of the AI capability of the A17 in the iPhone, so the iPad Siri (18 TFLOPS) would be way slower like the iPhone Siri (35 TFLOPS), so they simply never planed to use the M3 in any device with Siri. It's also help them to make the Snapdragon X Elite looks worst when they launch with the M4 but they only compared themself against the M2 in their marketig, so they really have reason to accelerate the things.
M4 make no sense at all… this is all flat apple watch again…
They didn’t! M4 baby! iPad Pro is M4 CONFIRMED!
@@Picollus1well it happened sooo…
While me using a Mac Mini M1 16gb 512gb… am good, this machine does everything well.
Why can Apple computers be used for so long?
@@Walk_0210 it is not been that long. Just 4 Years.
@@Walk_0210 It's the components used. Nothing stops windows PC's from being used for a long time. In fact many people use them for just as long as apple computers. When you buy a windows computer for half the price of a apple computer you simply cant expect good quality components. The longest lasting computers available right now are self built windows computers that can easily last 10+ years. If you took the price of a Mac Studio and built an equivalent performing windows PC for the same price the components would actually be of a higher quality in the windows PC.
I’m using iMac M1 16gb ram & 1 Tb sdd. Its still fine too…
@@Walk_0210 yup just about 4 years now, so not long.
Mickey Mouse port at 7:48 always cracks me up.
I heard a rumour that the N3E nodes have been in production since December last year so if that really is the case then we can easily see the M4s next week
i wish god that it happen for real & also seeing 16gb/512ssd will be great as basemodel
You got the M4 right and everything logically makes sense. Perhaps the MacBook market is already saturated and it's time to juice the desktops this time. I have 2011 minis waiting for an M3 (now hopefully M4) replacement. I wonder if an M4 Max/Ultra Mac Studio would be compelling enough to upgrade from the first gen now.
I beg Apple adds GPU based peripherals/add-on cards for the Mac Pro
If they do, gaming on mac is going to be a thing
Very much looking forward to the M4 Ultra. I hope the encoding scales much better than the M2 Ultra.
Still rocking an m1 iMac 8/256. I’m a graphic designer and it handles all the adobe suite programs for my work without issue. M1 was so epic that almost 4 years on I don’t feel much of a reason to upgrade. If m4 is a massive jump I’ll consider it but m1 is plenty fast for my design work.
*iPhone is always the first to get the new architecture before the M series. How can they release the M4 before the A18 Pro. It will be M3 and then a year later they will update it with the M4 chip.*
They might want to release an M4 that is basically an M3 but with a much faster neural engine for AI stuff
But the A17 and M3 based on the non standerd (custom made) N3B technology, and it's not compatible with the previous and the next standard technology (N3E,N3P,N3X), so logical to not spend too much on a technology, what is basically already forgotten by TSMC, they will won't keep the capacity for any non standard technology, they are immedietly replace it with the standard technology once is ready. If you need to redesign the whole chip because if the not conpatible technology, and in the next year you need to redesign the whole chip again, because the standard technology is not compatible with the custom made technology.. so why would they spend money on 2 full redesign, if they can "survive" the year if they are only design about half of the chips. It's required much less money to make the next chip, if you only need to redesign the "kitchen" instead of the whole "house". (So make more sense to focus on the standard technology, what is compatible, and minimalize the redesign cost on unnessesery chip, which is already can be replaced with standard design)
Didnt you watch the video? They probably dont want to make N3B chips, N3E wafers are cheaper and better but it took TSMC 1 year to be able to produce them
that or just the M3 Ultra chip would be on the new node only
No.
WAIT I thought it was coming this spring so it’s actually LATER than i thought 🤣
I have been rocking the m1 MacBook Air for compiling code and it’s really starting to show its age!! I can’t wait to buy the m4 pro Mac mini or the m4 max Mac Studio.
Great video and encouraging news! I need to replace an Intel iMac 27in but have been waiting for the next generation Mac Studio. It now seems very likely that new Studios will arrive next month, and hopefully Minis too.
Their release cadence has always felt backwards to me, with the latest and greatest stuff going into the "base model" products first. Makes more sense to begin production of the newest processors on the highest performing "pro" products first (and catering to the niche power user/look-what-I got-show-off-tech-TH-camr crowds who are down to drop $5k+ to have the latest and greatest), thus giving them time to iron out any kinks before scaling manufacturing to be used in the "not pro" products like the Macbook Air. I could see this becoming the new development cycle moving forward, as it allows them to always have the next leap ready to cook - very mise en place if you will.
Leaving Mac Pro & Studio on M2 while updating Macbooks to M4 would be pretty much like the 6 years they left Mac Pro on the trashcan while updating everything else, and the 3 years they left Mac Pro on Intel while updating everything else to M1.
Won’t happen, they had alternative desktops back then, not now. They’ll be updated in no time. At least the Studio and the mini they’ll come before the Pro.
Also, the Pro is most likely will receive the Extreme chip treatment to set it apart.
I kinda doubt the M4 is going to be some massive leap over the M3. M3 is a relatively small bump up from the M2. In my opinion, skipping M3 likely will mirror consumers purchasing decisions. I’m still on M1 and I don’t really see any need to upgrade.
Any news on if they plan on an M4 extreme, finally making the Mac Pro a good purchase?
I just want an all in one new/redesigned 27 inch or 32 inch desktop Mac with the M4 chip. I am also hoping for a "smart" monitor and a smart desktop Mac. Then I don't need to purchase a "smart" TV.
Sweet dolly zoom at 0:48, thank you ❤
The Studio also comes with a Max chip, so it would seem weird to offer either an M3 Max and an M4 Ultra, right? Wondering if the M4 Max would be introduced with the Studio as well.
They need to to combat the increasing competition that is catching them.
I doubt M4 before A18. I would think an M3X with advanced hardware for AI, but no increase in transistors, performance, nor efficiency.
I could see this too as a stop gap measure if the M4 thing doesn’t actually happen.
You see what happened to S lineup. Apple won’t do that.
They have no reason to do any more design with the N3B technology, because any chip with that is basically need to be totally redesigned again next year, since this N3B just a custom made technology what is not compatible with any standard technology. Andbif the N3E already reachable, and they need to redesign the chip from zero, it make sense to design that chip, what can be modified in the next years (N3P,N3X). It's much cheaper if they only need to redesign the "kitchen" instead of the redesign of the whole "house", so why would they spend any money on the M3, once the M4 is ready? M4 is compatible with M5 and M6, but M3 is not compatible with anything (not even with M2 or with M4, so a total chip redesign is required twice in a row to release any M3 chip, and if they can avoid one redeaign, they will avoid, because the whole house redesign cost way more like just the kitchen redesign..)
@@TamasKiss-yk4st I like your thesis. Apple will have to do some redesign to the chip though to show some increase in performance when the A18 or A19 chip is released.
About to upgrade my 2017 27" Intel iMac to Mac Studio M2, buttttt as soon as I heard they have M4's, it's a waiting game again. Hopefully M4 Mac Studio before end of this year ! Was waiting for new 27" iMac...
I'm in the exact situation, but I would NEVER buy an M2 anything at this point. Let's hope Gurman is wrong and we'll see the M4 Studios THIS summer!
Please release the M4 Mac Studios 🙏🏼
No kidding. Been waiting for a M3 Mac Studio - Apple would be dumb not to update the Studio and Mac Pro for over 2 years...
I bet you'll see it in a few weeks at WWDC...about a month away. Definitely don't buy one right now lol.
M4 Studio next year end of Q1 is my guess because it will be a HUGE jump
I think they should just do the m3 ultra instead
@@UrAvgUserBrowse - the M3 Max doesn’t have the “UltraFusion” strip that connects two Max Chip dies into one Ultra chip.
It sounds like Apple is re-engineering the Ultra chip and creating a new Extreme chip for the M4 line of Mac Studios and Mac Pros.
I agree with you makes sense to release the M4 at the WWDC. And I can’t wait for that as I need a new Mac for my podcast and I don’t want the updated M3.
I just got M3 pro MBP last week, please tell me that I didn't make a wrong decision by not waiting for the M4 :")
You did
I find everything very sensible, a Mac Pro and a Studio updated to the M4 series would be right at WWDC, because they would not make the MBPs too old, which would still be updated in the fall. There is only one thing that doesn't come back. Would the Mac Studio also need an M4 Max to be fully upgraded, would that SoC also arrive at WWDC24 or would it wait for the fall when it arrives on the MBPs?
I just want an M4 Max Macbook Pro. When do you think that is coming? Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 sometime?
Mac mini M4 pro on Fall or next year ?
Interesting video, lots of predictions. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I haven’t forgotten how Heem predicted the exact screen resolution of the new iMac before it launched.
Exciting to consider!
But the question is will apple release the M4 before the A18 chip for the iPhone, since the M chips architecture are based on the iPhone chips
It seems logical because Apple is already late with AI so it wants all Macs to be ready to be ultra efficient in the field of AI to accommodate Mac OS 15 before September and will be forced to upgrade to M4 as quickly as possible to avoid further delay
I just want Apple to update their monitors with pro motion, and maybe touch screen features? 😩
M4 maybe more likely in ipads, but it doesn’t make sense to leap to m4 for the studio. Like what is the point? Instead they might do short release like they have been doing. So that would mean m3 max studios / m3 minis and spring next year m4s.
It seems to me that it would make sense for Apple to release their desktop and laptop products in the summer as students start the school year in August/September in the U.S.
I’d say this would be a great change of hope for people who have been waiting to buy a new Mac Studio with a Max series chip.
I do plan to upgrade my 12.9 pro (‘15) to the m4 (maybe). Just have to wait.
This makes a lot of sense (given node issues) and would be fantastic. It all hinges on the iPad Pro chip.
Imagine having an M3 Max MBP and feeling like you need an M4 anything…
Or an mX max MBP at this point.
I always feel like my timings not good for buying a new computer. I am using a seven year old iMac 27. and have been thinking it's time to get something new. I want to use the new computer for Logic Pro for a home recording studio. but also for Final Cut Pro and photoshop. I have been considering a few different options. between the Mac Studio and MacBook Pro and Mac mini. but I don't want to buy anything with the M2 chip when a M4 is coming soon. even buying the M3 chip seems stupid. I will be using the new computer for probably another seven years. and I don't want to buy something that is already old tec. I am also curious to what people think of using something like a 55 inch LG OLed tv for a monitor. has anyone done this ? is there a good reason why you shouldn't use one ? it just seems like the Mac monitors are so expensive for the size you get.
I have high doubts that would happen. A18 is not out yet. Furthermore, there are no significant leaks of the M4 chips and by now we should have known almost everything there was to know. So I'm almost certain that M4 is not coming in 2 days. Of course I could be wrong
Agree! Is not coming! In 2 days
You were wrong lol
@@maxprod.5455 Yup

I’m all for these M4s. Bring it on.
Btw I like how you talked a little slower today
2:20 that Scary Fast event was less than 9 months ago :) it was 6 months ago (plus a few days).
The first N3B based product was iPhone 15 - less than 8 months ago :)
M4 based MB Pro rumors will be accompanied by rumors of a notebook redesign including OLED, Face ID, improved coatings for the chassis, and maybe reduced weight. I would like to see an M4 based 15 inch MB Pro come to market.
Makes total sense to me. 🤞🏻 fingers crossed it all plays out as you laid out.
I really hope not, doesn't make sense for me, new chipset lineup after releasing m3 pro and max 5 months ago? No thank you, is a criminal tactic to buy buy buy buy! Now your hard earned technology gets "old" every 5 months.... cmon...
@@fusionmayafilms m3 was init released more than 5 months ago...
@@fusionmayafilms You must be new to Apple. In the 2000s Apple updated the processors in its Macs every 9-10 months.
Wow, the M4 chip and the "tandem OLED" really went into the new iPad Pro lineup! I just wonder if the screen is now able to compete with the best of the colour grading monitors out there.
Your add is much too long ... maybe 2 shorter. I almost turned you off.
I’m excited… I’ve wanted a new Studio for quite some time. I was on the fence about getting a MacBook with a docking station etc but I wouldn’t use the laptop functionality and that really bothered me.
I want a powerful desktop that will last for a long time. With Apple not doing so well lately, I really look forward to something new and exciting.
While I would love to see an M4 Ultra based Mac Studio introduced soon, maybe at WWDC, my guess is that they won't because the high defect densities you usually get early in a process node like M3E would mean that yields on physically large chips like the Ultra would be disproportionately low, chew up a lot of wafers and give you lower gross margins. On the other hand, putting the base M4, which would have the smallest die and highest yields in the M4 family, into a high priced iPad Pro that wouldn’t sell in huge volume or consume too many wafers makes perfect sense, since I think the key priority is to have enough M3E wafers available to get the A18 ramp right for this fall’s iPhone 16, and that would not be imperiled by a high-end iPad. Once that ramp is seen to be going well, wafers can be safely allocated to larger processors for Macs. I agree they can’t expect to sell M2 generation Mac Studios while the M4 is out there in products like the iPad, so I suspect they will introduce the M4 Max/Ultra Mac Studio sooner than WWDC in 25: perhaps in late 24. I also assume they will disclose the whole M4 line soon, most likely Tuesday but possibly at WWDC.
It would actually make a LOT of sense to have the premium aspirational machines ahead of the commodity mainstream products. It actually does not make sense to release the high end AFTER the commodity chips.
iPad's with macOS! let iPads realize their potential for once!
If it is indeed the M4, which I don't believe, then it will make all the new owners of M3 very angry, which is another reason I don't believe it.
Why? Apple has to update their hardware at some point, and if the M3 is being built on a flawed node, they're better off scrapping it and moving forward with an M4. Or is Apple supposed to appease previous buyers at the expensive selling new hardware - which is already in big decline. Apple needs to improve sales, and the M4 could be a big factor.
I don’t think so. The difference between things like m2 and m3 are nothing like going from intel to m1. And I think the bigger difference with m4 will be about making chips ready for apples AI. So the difference will truly be just the ability for AI and not so much the efficiency or power of M4
Also, until now, M series chips are based on the A series chip, and I doubt they will present something before the A18 Pro
@@Dwilsonmusic145 Interesting. You could be right!!
@@Chatsworth1979 mark my words m4 is not going to be as ground breaking as we think power wise. It will be something that is much more AI ready as Apple updates Siri and things like that.
Next video, why we were wrong and it’s genius!
Ipad pro has the m4
You were wrong , dont ever cook again
and with that, you failed with all your mac related predictions
Makes sense to me though if Apple announces an M4 Ultra next month, they'll effectively kill M3 Max sales from then on.
Will the M4 chip really be worthy of the M4 name, or is it really just a renamed M3 chip? The M3 was introduced about six months ago. Has enough time elapsed for this to be a major upgrade, or is it just a tiny bump?
Wouldn't be surprised if M4 is essentially an M3 with a significantly beefed up Neural Engjne
You were so right
Apple has probably even M5 and M6 specification ready to some degree, so I'd guess it's no problem for them to release the M4 a bit sooner.
Also their stock has been put quite under pressure to release some kind of AI product or anything more innovative and useful than Vision Pro. This could also include some M4 based cloud / server chips for AI which NVIDIA has been extremely successful with in the last couple of years.
Plus Snapdragon will soon get their X Elite Arm chips in laptops which might eat into the new Mac sales.
So for that it make sense to quickly release the M4, though I would not expect more than a ~20% performance uplift in traditional numbers + the "new" AI engine.
The Apple website for the studio and the mac pro have a link to tomorrow's announcement ! none of the other products have links - what does that tell you ? just maybe the M4 will be released first in the studio and mac pro !
We'll know on Tuesday and no more guessing about M4 or M3 on the iPad. If the M4 Ultra on Studio ends up being announced in June at WWDC, I hope a couple of things: Update Wi-Fi, no efficiency cores (Studio doesn't need them), and max config of 256 GB RAM and 16 TB (yes, and you guys who blast out "You don't need 16TB" obviously are fine with 512GB SSDs--not great for those of us who work on huge multimedia and creative projects).
As always, MaxTech bros, thanks again for getting us all crazy excited!
I would bet also in summer for an M4 double ULTRA for the MAC PRO because if not it would be abandoned
might an M4 macbook air have even worse throttling, and potentially enough to make the M3 the better option?
Thanks, Vadim, for the great video!...QUESTION: How does the customer know if Apple simply re-named the M3 chip....M4?
M4 chip will be built on TSMC's N3E which isn't lithographically compatible with the M3 chip which is built on N3B.
Other than that change, we don't really know what they'll change.
This doesn’t make sense to me. We had a similar scenario in 2018-2020, apple introduced a 12x/z processor for the iPads. Also introducing m4 for iPads but not for MacBooks it’s a no no from marketing perspective. But let’s see on 2 days what’s next.
Comes the M4 with Thunderbolt 5 - !?!
I have an m2 max. I wonder how much better the m4 will be.
4=2x2 so twice as fast.
Depends on what you do. Ray tracing and Ai tasks will be much faster, the rest not so much.
I think the more important question is that, do you even reach the limit of the M2 performance frequently? Because if you just use your M2 on 50% at average, you still have basically zero reason to upgrade, even if it's a bigger leap in performance, you still not even use the M2 at on it's limit.
So Next year we have M5 maybe 🤔 as others are hurry in 2nm.
good exited to see M4/M5pro Macmini with ai npu + ray tracing productivity beast 😮😮
I think they should just skip straight to the M250 ultra quantum extreme tbh. It's pretty much skynet level computer power. Plus you get that lovely ultra-realistic holographic display with it too.
Waiting for an M4 iMac. Should be awesome.
🤣
It's been 5 months since M3 November 7 release, crazier.
Came to say the same. God knows why they are saying 9 months. I love how there's always an "as we know", when we don't actually know anything.
I agree with most of the things in the video except "performance" M3 chips were very expensive. They shrunk the geometries and the yields were very low. M3 Max was quite expensive and I think an Ultra version would be even more ridiculous to manufacture. Anyways quite Happy with my M3 Max. M4 are supposed to be between 2% and 5 % more performant, and with the surface back to what it was in the N5 I want to see the thermals and consumption of the new processor.
That said, I agree WWDC 2024 will be one to be remembered.
I feel like this M3 Max machine will do me for a few years. Hopefully.
Same here. I upgraded from an intel i7 Mac to a m3 max. To be fair difference is already day-night. The thing is that Apple releases new products so quickly that whatever mac you buy a couple of months later it seems already “old”. Technology today ages fast but still very well. You have a beast of a machine don’t worry.
Perhaps the problem is the unpatchable security hardware bug.
If the Mac Studio, Mac Pro dont get updated to 2025 then that brings up the question of the M5 chip. Maybe they need to go to a 2 year cycle of chips instead of a 1 year cycle that way they reach all the products before a new chip comes out or split the chip line giving the Mac Studio and Mac Pro chips that are way more powerful that the other devices.
One day… iMac Pro with M4 Max.
Let's just have all M4 Mac products on May 7.
we are NOT getting the m4 tomorrow. We will only get the m3 but it will be produced on the newest fabrication process of tsmc...and maybe (but I am very SKEPTICAL about this) some upgrade to the neural network chip
Interesting well we will find out if the hypothesis is real or not
Crazy idea but what if Apple starts to differentiate the chips even more and starts to ship the M4 Ultra only in the Mac Pro's. Yeah, that would be something hu? But i can see them to that. Though the Mac Studio could easily handle that chip and would bring a lot of backlash. But it's Apple...
How about gofetch?
Turns out the price hike on the OLED iPad Pro is so expensive there's no way I can justify getting one of those when the (inevitable) OLED Macbook Air will be a much more capable device for less money.
If M4 comes to new iPads, then this fits. Power creators will be singing
So M3 is announced Oct 30, 2023 and we’re looking at M4 being announced in the next month or so? If true, the release schedule is getting kind of silly.
I don't think they'll announce the entire M4 lineup at WWDC. It would grind Macbook Pro sales to a halt for months.
I cannot imagine anybody is buying either the M2-based Studio or the M2-based Pro right now. Gurman’s prediction about next summer is crazy!
And now that there is an M4 iPad, there will be NO more M3 Macs in any stripe!
@@keithwalls6316 If you think that nobody will buy deeply discounted m2s and m3s when the m4s roll out......
Has Apple fixed the GoFetch vulnerability in M4?
I had doubts about m4 ipads but i will admit that if m4 ipads do release, it would explain why the m3 max chip didnt have the ultra fusion connector and thus explain such a short chip cycle.
Theres still nothing saying that apple couldnt just make an "m3" ipad pro but simply using the n3 e process and not change anything. Itd be an efficiency change but not a real architecture upgrade or die reduction, so calling it an upgrade is a overstatement.
Cause my biggest doubt is AI doing anything for ipads and m4 being a requirement. Im slightly believing wwdc will talk about ai, but i dont believe its close to ready for 2024. And so i dont think that ipads need ai powered chips when apple wont be able to utilize such things till end of '24 or realistically in 2025
Makes sense, because the new ipad pro will probably be heavy into AI. Also, the upcoming competition is against the macbook air, not the higher end macbook pros.
Would love to see Apple update the studio display, mouse, and perhaps keyboard.
when will the new iMac 32” come out ? Makes no sense why they keep poking around with it
That sounds about right to me. Sales have been flat for Apple and when you combine what companies like Qualcomm are doing, Apple cannot afford to let much time pass.
PRICE will differentiate the M2/M3/M4 line-up most distinctly. Thru 2025 ...M2s to entry-level consumer-oriented units across the ecosystem.......M3s to mid tier "pro-sumers".......M4s (with the most robust GPUs) to the less price-sensitive fully PRO market.....each priced accordingly. BTW, Apple will likely still offer base MBA M1s for a while yet at retailers like Walmart and Best Buy. Better to break even on those and offer new Apple customers/switchers a polished product all while whittling away market share from cheapy PCs.
I believe it makes sense because they can’t unveil all that new fancy AI stuff at wwdc or at the iPhone event and not having the iPads be compatible
I need M4 Ultra!
Does anyone use any security software now days … I have not for like 15 years with no problems , I just don’t go to dodgy websites..
I am a fan of Japan. I always watch MaxTeck's videos from Japan. I am also very interested in the upcoming Apple event! I am a heavy iPad Pro user, so I am looking forward to the iPad Pro with M4 chip and the new iPad OS! And I am looking forward to another video posting!
I was about to upgrade to an M3 MacBook Air in a couple weeks, but recent news is making me want to hold off for a while. I hope the Osborne effect doesn't kick in here.
I highly doubt you'd notice a big difference between the m3 and m4. Get the m3 🎉
I'm waiting for the next MacMini M4 so I CAN get the M2 MacMini at a hopfully better price! I don't always need the latest and greatest.
If they postone the M4 Mac Studio till next year I'll be pissed.... Studio and Pro should be leading the charge not be the last one to be updated.
Apple releases a new core architecture every year with the iPhone.
The M series just uses the cores that are developed for A series in higher core count configurations.
If they could keep up with it, they would release a new M series every year as well.
Because they’re not going to let the M-series fall behind the A series by more than a year or so.
Because it would be absolutely stupid to have cell phones releasing that were more powerful than your entry-level laptops.
