    Just an FIY: Please read the written pattern CAREFULLY, many people said that the written pattern doesn't match for the first row, but in fact, they are not following the instructions correctly. Here is the explanation: when we say [skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch]. This is the sequence to follow, when you put the brackets together, to follow the sequence, it would look something like this: [skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch][skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch], etc.. So if you notice, the bracket ends with a ch and starts with a ch, which makes the 2 ch space :) This is simply to make the sequence match throughout the whole row.
    THANK YOU!!! Here is the link to the free pattern on my blog: www.cjdesignblog.com/andreas-blanket/

    Just a heads up to anyone interested in doing this blanket. The multiples are 3 if you’re wanting to make it bigger. Another tip is that because the yarn is bulky and if you’re using a chenille/velvet yarn other than Bernat I would suggest dropping the chain one at the beginning of each row as that leaves a very loopy and prominent bump. Just crochet the single crochet in the first stitch the number of stitches remains the same but you have a much straighter edge

      Thank you! My tension was a little too tight and my blanket was working up only 32 inches wide, so I had to start over. I think I’m going to try chaining 99 to start this time, since her 75 only made hers 40 inches wide and that seems a little small.

      I can’t figure out if it’s skip two or one as the pdf says one and video says two. Can you help clarify

    • @cloudydaez
      @cloudydaez ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Pnutbutajelitymethe skip one is only in the beginning and end of each row. It’s skip two as you are always doing the 3 sc in the middle stitch of the previous 3 dc on the tow before. Follow the tutorial otherwise you’ll get out of whack with the pattern

    I really like this pattern too! I knit but crochet, I think, is faster so I’m going to try it. My crochet hook arrived yesterday, I have yarn and I’m ready to get started on Christmas presents! Who said you can’t teach an old dog (72) new tricks?! I’m learning so much from TH-cam. Your designs are wonderful. I guarantee I’ll know how to do a HDC when I finish the previous pattern! Thanks for the work you put into the tutorials. They’re very clear!

    Fun easy blanket. I will definitely keep in my go to patterns for bulky #5+ yarns. Multiples of "3" work to make the blanket in the video bigger or smaller. FYI, the 1st row of her pattern on the blog does not match the video. If you are looking for her finished measurements, she gives them as 40 x 56 in the video & on her blog. Her gauge was 7st & 5 rows = 4x4. Hope this helps someone.

      Smaller hook will result in a smaller sized blanket, so you’ll need more chains/stitches to achieve the same width she did, as well as more rows. I’d get a 5th skein of yarn too.

    Whether i crochet or knit, I do not use knots in the main part of the project. My method is to leave the end and start of a ball of wool at the edge of my work. Once project is completed I knot and hide ends in the work itself. No bulky bits and works well on projects with edging as part of the pattern eg throw rugs and tassles

    It's so disappointing to spending so much time to crochet 3-4 rows and seeing is becoming round as I was crocheting from the pattern written on your website. Then I checked the video for the first Row and realized your written pattern is wrong and doesn't match the video. You mentioned in the written pattern, Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, work a SC, then,[ Skip the next ch and work 3 sc in next ch, skip next ch] repeat across till the last ch. Which is incorrect as you skip 2 ch in your video and sc in the 3rd ch. Please fix this on your website that somebody else doesn't waste their time like I did. Thanks!

    • @CJDesignblog
      @CJDesignblog  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is nothing wrong with my pattern, you just have to read it carefully and follow the instruction before just assuming is wrong. If you read it, you have to repeat the sequence in the brackets, right? Okay, if you put the brackets together, this is what you get *[skip the next ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch][skip the next chapter, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch]*. So, as you can notice, when you put the brackets together (how is supposed to be) you get the skip next ch twice 👍🏼

    • @Monique-unique-ds3ew
      @Monique-unique-ds3ew 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for clarifying this. I have crochet before and this was a first time seeing a pattern like this. You don't normally put to [...][...]together, however you will start the sequence from *[ ...] what has been written in between bracket, unless you have another method that I never heard of. Thank you anyway and I will give it a try from the video and not from the pattern.

    • @CJDesignblog
      @CJDesignblog  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The written instructions will vary from designer to designer. Not all of us write patterns the same way, and I think one shouldn’t assume that they are all written the same way :)
      Is the same concept as stitches, they’re called different names, and that doesn’t mean that one is wrong and one is correct, they’re just named different.

    • @xojuliee123

    • @bokehbutterfly6544
      @bokehbutterfly6544 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CJDesignblogwhile it is technically correct and shows that the 3 sc replace the skipped ch/st, the one you work into and then next skipped ch/st, I can see where it gets confusing because it’s like say “skip one, skip one” vs just “skip two”. I’d change the written pattern to have the it be “sc, skip one, 3 sc in next, *[skip 2, 3sc in next]*, repeat *to* until 2 left, skip 1, sc in last”.

    Your video says for Row1 to skip two chains then do 3 sc in the next stitch but both the free and written pattern( I bought the written patter) says to only to skip next ch then so 3 sc and repeat across. Do I skip one chain like the pattern states or two chains like the video states?

      Danny please clarify how many chains you skip & name of stitch. Thank you!

    🙋🏻‍♀️I am looking for an easy dense pattern and ultra soft yarn...I have sensory issues along with severe carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, golfer's elbow (not a golfer...I'm the last person on your golf team unless the handicap allowance is all you need to win😉), a pending complete reverse shoulder replacement, and possible neck fusions ALL on my right side which is also my dominant side🤷🏻‍♀️

    Would this blanket look good in two or three wide stripes?…..also do you find that a hook of 12 mm makes a good dense blanket. I don’t want a lacy blanket, it needs to be fairly dense for the winter cold.?

    I am trying this pattern don’t know if I am doing it too tight or what but I just don’t see how I’m gonna have enough with horse games because I’m almost done with my second and it’s tiny. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.Lost beginner

    Thank you for the pattern! I used the baby Barnett blanket yarn, and made a baby blanket. Do I need to put some type of a edging on this?

    I bought your pdf pattern. May I ask how many rolls of yarn did you use to finish this project. So I can buy it in one go at Joann’s? Thank you in advance. 😊

    This blanket looks so nice and it seems like it’s so easy but we will see. I have tried blankets before and it just doesn’t seem to look like the one that I’m watching thank you.
