My girlfriends mom worked at the anchor bar as a waitress and cook when the famous wings were created, and she brought them home to us to try and at the time we didn't think they'd go over Big!!!😱 I'm glad I wasn't a betting gal! They did profect them since that day. But they are one of my favorites.. Thanks for sharing we love our Buffalo , people, places and the Best food around!!!👍👍👍👍😉
loved this! im from buffalo (humble ol amherst') and i felt this video really showcased the classics! next time you're here you need to try a 'stinger' sub (steak and chicken finger sub with lettuce, tomato, onion blue cheese/or mayo) , also stop by some greek diners for a chicken souvlaki (greek diners are a buffalo classic!), oh, and of course a fish fry (every friday!) a buffalo fish fry generally has a large piece of beer battered haddock with sides of fries/baked potato/potato salad/coleslaw/mac salad/ rye bread, it's different than 'fish and chips, another fun snack are 'pizza logs' which are served at most bars and takeout places, pretty much pizza egg rolls, and of course so much more, our food scene is really off the hook these days, it just keeps getting better
Had no idea there were so many good eats in Buffalo. What an amazing variety of food. I'm definitively up for a sandwich for the guy who has been slicing them for 25 years. Looks delish!
If you ever get to Schwabl's, in addition to the Beef on Weck, be sure to have their German potato salad and their liver dumpling soup! I dream about that stuff.

Born and raised in the 716. Elmo's is the spot for the best wings in WNY, maybe the country. Next time, you gotta get my order, 10 Cajun Honey Mustard and 10 Hot! They're very well known for their cajun wings! Shoutout to Adam and the crew over there, the absolute best.
Oh, Guys, I love wings and beef they look so so so good. I can see the joy of eating them on your eyes. I am not a fan of hot dog and Sushi but they way you eat them makes me to want them

The Trip to Paulas Donuts is a MUST and Include a Delicious Chunk of their CARROT CAKE. BUT DON NOT EAT IT IN THE EVENING UNLESS YOU WORK OVERNIGHT! You will have a DEFINITE SUGAR HIGH FROM THE BUTTER CREME FROSTING!! Mmmmm!!
Excellent review! All great places! Duff's is my favorite for wings. I grew up just a few miles north in Niagara County. It's too bad Pizza Junction in N. Tonawanda is closed now. They made the best pizza I've ever had! Lock City in Lockport is almost as good. One thing about pizza in western NY..... it seems that everyone is competing on who can put the most toppings on a pie. You almost need a fork or spoon for some of them. Lock City puts on handfuls of toppings. That's my preference. IMO, the sauce and toppings are what have all the flavor (and nutritional value). Mozzeralla just doesn't have much flavor to me. I just use enough to hold the toppings together and keep them from sliding off when you pick it up. 🙂
Left off "fired baloney" sandwich and pierogi's. Anywhere. Good mention on Polish donuts. The best were the jelly from Burchinski's at the Broadway market years ago. Buffalo has to be the horseradish capital of the world.
Ah, Buffalo is so close to me! My Buffalo foodie experience was a bit different than you coming from a vegan point of view :) But they have vegan wings there (of course!) and they were delicioussssss!
You missed 2 very important things on,your visit. Western NY is also the originator of salt and vinegar fries, as well as the "stinger" sub. The stinger sub is a steak and cheese sub with hot chicken fingers on it. Make a trip to a sub delicious for the stinger and ask around for the salt and vinegar fries. Those fries traditionally go with the beef on weck.
We would drive from Toronto to Duffs for the wings!!! My dad used to drive us there in the 1980's just to eat them, said they were the best in the world back then.
That would probably have been something we would have enjoyed if we had more time. We can't wait to get back to Buffalo, especially when the weather is nice. (We liked it in the winter too!)

All of Western NY has FABULOUS WINGS AT ANY CORNER BAR!! Paulas Donuts are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Italian, German Hungarian and all Ethnic Foods are available! REASONABLY priced!! Another Buffalo Specialty is SPONGE CANDY!!

The food....Oh the amazing food of all types everywhere..the warm kind people, the scenery, parks, architecture, the lake. .I immediately subscribed to your channel because you two are super fun to watch...Come back in the summer.
Duff's is horrible. Their sauce is never consistent - even the wait staff admit to it - Hard to believe they win awards with the way they run their restaurants. Bar Bill is far superior for wings and beef-on-weck than anywhere else in the region.
Been in Buffalo almost my whole life and there are a bunch of good wing places. How you order your wings help too. I like mine crispy and if I don't order them that way at some places, I'll get soggy ones. Elmo's is one place they come out crispy without having to order them that way. A lot of places have a wing/beef on weck combo now. I've had plenty of chances to move down south and actually moved out of state for a few years, but the food is one of the main things that keep me here. Ted's is always a good eat. Bar Bill is almost impossible to get into on weekends. Anchor Bar and Duff's is meh. Lots of good food places to fit into one trip.

That chocolate donut Mindy has looks so good. I haven't been to Buffalo in awhile, but now I know where I need to stop next time I am there.
