Ugghhh… I’m so SICK of this Anchor Bar BS. They absolutely did NOT invent the Buffalo Chicken wing!!!! A bar down the street from them had wings for like 10 years before that “story” AND a restaurant that opened in the 40’s had them daily
I love that you are both in Buffalo my Hometown. True Buffalonians only eat blue cheese with wings. Ranch is sacrilegious lol 😄. We don't call them Buffalo Wings here either just wings. I hope you enjoyed your visit. If you come back check out Elmwood Village and Riverworks preferably in the summer.
Aww... this is my hometown... Paula's is always a must-have when I am there... the peanut doughnuts are good but the glazed sour cream are the best... the cannoli ones are good too... but soo sweet! Y'all should have had Buffalo pizza too! If you think the wing debate is something... the pizza debate is easy more intense! Buffalo has lots to offer these days... waaaay more than when I was growing up there. Plus the architecture, the people and the arts can't be beat. Definitely go back in summer... festivals galore... and beautiful weather!
Yes. Our pizza is amazing, I just found amazing crispy thin crust non sweet sauce. There are so many options for eating now, between the pubs, breweries, restaurants & family joints. You could eat out every day & not repeat!
Born in Buffalo! Moved away at 19…to NYC. The original “peanut stick” was made by a place on Main Street called Freddie’s Donuts - all their donuts were amazing, imo even Krispy Kreme cannot compare. Enjoyed your sweet tour. Stay safe!
Just wanted to thank you two for the overall positivity you contribute to the world and your audience. I always feel happier and a little more eager to go explore after watching your videos. I genuinely hope you're both doing well on all fronts. Happy New Year, my friends.
There’s so many local wing spots that BLOW anchor bar away. Anchor is only for tourists. There’s gabrielles gate, Picasso’s, carbones. I’m not much of a fan of anchor bar and I grew up in buffalo. If you ever go back to buffalo gotta try the local spots! Jim’s steak out has bomb sandwiches also, and ETS on the west side of Buffalo has amazing tacos and Mexican food. From scratch
Any pizzeria in Buffalo will have the best wings. Just go to any pizzeria on Hertle Ave. and I am sure you will find some good wings. We usually go to The Avenue on Hertle Ave. they are a hit or miss but when they are good, they are really good.
I'm so glad you guys enjoyed your time here in Buffalo, NY. Can you imagine living around the corner from Paula's Donuts!? Well, I do and it is a very tasty treat from time to time especially when you are leaving the bar just down the plaza... So happy you got to try out our main staple foods. Can't go wrong with any of them. I hope you guys come back to visit. You guys should make your way back when the weather turns for the better!
I love down the street from Paula’s. I don’t go there that often but they are the best place to get doughnuts in Buffalo. My favorites are the red velvet and cannoli doughnuts.
Lived near Buffalo for 25 years. Wings are good, beef on weck pretty good. But the one thing I miss the most is the chicken finger sub. You can't get them anywhere else. They are Amazing.
Anchor Bar is touristy even though they invented the wing. Duff’s Famous Wings and Bar Bill & Tavern were the places they should have gone to and Bill has the roast beef sandwich too.
Glad you had a good time here in Buffalo and enjoyed the food. To bad you missed the Friday Fish Fry, another hidden delicacy here , but you you did very well with Pizza "Logs" , Peanut Sticks, and of course Beef on Weck.
You have three brain cells and btw Eagles fans (which I'm not) started the jumping through tables. I think that whole thing is beyond stupid and shows bills fans as no class as always.
About the bun; It's called a Kummelweck roll, hence the name, "Weck". --- OTHER YUMMIES EITHER VERY POPULAR OR ORIGINATED IN WESTERN NEW YORK... * You already covered the Weck, Wings and Peanut Stick doughnut. * Loganberry drink. You can buy it as a canned or bottled soft drink or buy the syrup. It was first made popular in Crystal Beach, Canada (right across the river from Buffalo) where there used to be a popular Amusement Park (long since closed down). * Sponge candy; Delicious little square pillows of malty honeycomb candy covered in chocolate. * Haddock fish fry. Delicious haddock fillet battered or breaded with a side of fries. Best fish fry you'll ever have! You can even buy them at the supermarkets up there. * DiCamillo Bread; A small local chain of family bakeries selling mostly Italian specialties. They have amazing Italian bread, Italian cookies, Biscotti, Italian pastries, traditional holiday breads and cakes and even a few Polish items. * Get yourself a pizza from a local pizzeria! Local pizza is AWESOME! It's usually sold as trays (Sicilian style, though you could get a round pie or slice if you wanted). You can order a Half-Tray or Full-Tray. Great stuff. * Anderson's Frozen Custard; Basically soft-serve ice-cream but richer because it's egg-based and not just milk. * Not a local thing but a Canadian national business chain thing: Tim Horton's Coffee & Donuts is quite popular in Western New York. * Due to the heritage of the citizens; There's a lot of incredibly awesome eats that are Italian-American, Greek-American, Polish, German and others. --- Buffalo has a lot of festivals, too. The Italian Festival, Greek Festival, Dyngus Day (a Polish Spring holiday), Juneteenth (Black American), The Wing Festival, A Taste of Buffalo, The Allentown Art Festival, etc.
One thing for sure, most Buffalo restaurants do not play around. Too much competition. So they have to be good. I guess the bad parts of town don't have the greatest food. So glad you got the beef on weck. That is a staple of Buffalo. Eckl's in Orchard Park (actually moved to downtown i see) has the best beef on weck i know.
Yay! My hometown Buffalo. Thanks for visiting. I just found this channel and it's cool to see you in Buffalo. I hope you had fun and we treated you well. Yup pizza logs I don't eat them now but they're good.
Teresa Belissimo was inspired by another local guy named named John Young, who created the forerunner to the Buffalo Wing at his joint, "Young's Wings & Things" (except, at the time at least, it was breaded with a tomato-based sauce called 'Mambo Sauce'). Sadly, for Young, he never patented his idea of "chicken wing as snack food" so the Belissimos alone get all the credit. Both Young and the Belissimos should be declared the joint "Inventors of the Buffalo Wing". The Belissimo and Young recipes (Belissimo's 'buttered hot sauce & Bleu Cheese and Young's breading and tomato-y 'Mambo Sauce') are different enough, though that you can't really accuse the Belissimos of stealing. So happy to see you visit Western New York. I do apologize if much of Niagara Falls, N.Y. is a dump but I'm sure you still had a great time at some of the decent parts of the city (like the immediate around the gorgeous falls). Someday; Niagara Falls will experience a renaissance like Buffalo is (Buffalo is awesome!).
My daughter goes to University at Buffalo and I love Anchor bar but my husband loves Duffs. If ur ever in Buffalo again u can compare. I’m excited to check out the roast beef sandwich, we haven’t tried it yet!! Thx!
I'm from Buffalo and have been to the Anchor Bar many times. One beef I have with the wings there (and everywhere else it seems) is that there are usually a bunch of legs in there with the wings!
They're just wings. I'm a Buffalo native. The garnish used to be celery sticks and carrots. It was served with bleu cheese dressing with bleu cheese pieces. John Young used to work at the Anchor Bar but later opened Wings N Things on Jefferson Ave., and a few other rhyming locations such as Stop N Cop and Git N Split. The wings were seasoned with butter, salt, and Frank's Hot Sauce. They are supposed to be semi-crispy. Interesting how the Anchor Bar's story of the wings' invention changes. They didn't invent the pizza logs, either, which not only come with pepperoni, but also with sausage, sweet peppers, or broccoli.
You guys are gonna hit a million soon. Just wanted to make sure I mention I was with you before you make it big (you already are) haha. My favourite travel couple so far!
As a Buffalonian for close to 60 years - having been here long enough to experience a time when a bucket of 50 wings and a gallon pitcher of Genessee beer cost 5 bucks.. I can say that there are only a few places that I regularly visit FOR the wings after all these years. Those I rate highest are Elmo's double dipped Cajun Honey Mustard wings, Mammoser's very different "dry rub" wings, Bar Bill for the regular spicy hot wings, and Gabriel's Gate for the atmosphere, the fireplace, and the wings. There are many other places I like... but those I mentioned above are personal favorites.
Thanks so much for exploring Buffalo, New York. We love your videos. You may want to order Sponge Candy from Fowler’s to round out your Buffalo tasting. Best, Susan
We stopped in Buffalo a couple summers ago on our way back from a trip to Niagra Falls. That trip was one of our favorites! The Falls are ah-maz-ing! I'll have to check out your video about it. It looks like you had quite the experience at Cave of the Winds lol
As a native WNY’er this video made me happy. Loved seeing you try all our food! Although, I didn’t realize that peanut sticks were a Buffalo thing. I thought you could get them anywhere. Also, pizza logs are amazing! We were lucky enough as kids to have them as a staple on the school lunch menu. At 36 years old I still love them. Had them for lunch the other day. 😄
Awesome! All that food looked great. The wings looked like they are made how a I like them, not drenched and soaking wet in sauce. Can't wait until we can get up there and try them out!
@@Sam21998 No reason to be mad. To each his own. I've had time to rethink my response and having grown up on grilled peanut buter and jelly sandwiches I might have to move that into the top spot...
How did I miss this one? I was hoping you would try Bar-Bill, since they have the BEST wings AND beef on weck! We had to laugh at what you thought was a lot of snow! Now, we're watching your camping by Niagara Falls....
Dudes I'm from Buffalo, how did i miss this video lol. It's cool here i moved to NYC and just moved back because there's not much there that we don't have here for a lot less money lol
Awesome video I am a Buffalonian raised here all my life the bar bill has the best beef on WIC which is located in East Aurora and also the bar 911‘s has the best wings by far it is a local hidden gem it’s a staple of South Buffalo you have got to check that out next time you are here God bless. Also the Niagara Café downtown Buffalo is a must
Yeah, there is a lot of lake effect snow through Rochester and Buffalo.. (localish). We had squall warnings in this area, earlier today, but nothing really came of it...
What a way to go out of 2019!! I’ve never had buffalo wings, & I feel like I need to try them! I hope you have a wonderful new year with your family & friends & I can’t wait to see what you do in the new year! Lots of love 🥰
Beef on weck is a German-American invention from Buffalo. You can’t find it in too many places. The weck is the roll. Many NYS cities have their own unique food items. Binghamton has Speedies, Rochester had the Garbage Plate and Utica has Chicken Riggies. Syracuse and Albany somehow missed out as far as I know.
It always makes me laugh seeing (most) Americans deal with horseradish sauce, or English mustard.... English mustard is the funniest, I've seen a few American visitors to the UK see the word mustard and assume it's the same as the mustard you'd squeeze on a hot dog so portion it the same... the look on their faces is always amazing after their first bite !
There's a large population of Polish & Slavic people & restaurants in Buffalo, so we're familiar / grow up with & love horseradish, but it is funny to see visitors try it.
Yay Buffalo! Our Home!! Paula’s is the hands down best donuts in the area. So filling and sweet but delicious! So glad you loved the wings! Schwables has the best Roast Beef sandwiches for sure!! The Naval Park is definitely a gem for sure! Hope you get to make it back this way in the summertime. The Harbor and Canalside is always hoppin! Let us know if you do come back...we can take you around for some more Buffafun! 😁
Duffs is better but Anchor is original. So many good places besides Anchor. Just go to any suburb and get the local stuff. I delivered pizza for a place so i was spoiled for sure. I miss Buffalo food!!!
Hey there! Welcome to my hometown of Buffalo, NY! I'm so excited to share with you all the amazing sights and delicious food that we have here. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on all the fun we have during the summertime with all the fairs and festivals. There's so much to see and do, you won't be bored for a second. So come on over and enjoy all that Buffalo has to offer!
Happy New Year from over the pond 🙋🇬🇧 Love watching your videos. Wondered if you have any eaten anything that you didn’t like? I can’t remember seeing you not like something haha
Sgt Steel I remember that one, the food there is meant to be horrible 👍 I just wondered if any restaurants/cafes they visit don’t have especially nice food 🙂
You said you couldn't imagine that pizza toppings in an egg roll/won ton wrapper could be good, so I just have to ask, have you *NEVER* had a Gino's Pizza Roll? I mean, a won ton skin with a drop of pizza sauce, a pinch of shredded mozzarella and either finely diced pepperoni or crumbled Italian sausage is literally ALL they are! They are sold in every grocery store, mini-mart and 7-11 across America. Oh, wait. Maybe that's the problem? You do most of your traveling outside the US. It just seems to weird to me that you've never had a frozen pizza roll. I didn't know that was a possibility for adults in 2020. BTW, I do remember your first trip to Niagara Falls. I've been here since right after your first cruise.
You guys have the luck of finding places are closed upon your arrival. I guess you visit so many attractions it’s bound to happen sometimes but you really swing for the fences for getting “shut out” a lot. Thankfully you never let it ruin a day of adventures. XO
You should of went to The Bar Bill Tavern on Main st in East Aurora. They have been named best in Buffalo for both Chicken Wings and Beef on Weck. My favorite wings are in Niagara Falls at Mister Bs bar
That beef on weck looked delicious! I want one! Unfortunately, Buffalo is about 400 miles from where I live. No big distance for you guys, but major for me. Oh well. I will just have to find a place here in downstate NY that has something like that sandwich.
Those donuts look like potatoes. Now the story I heard about buffalo wings is that some men showed up at a bar drinking of course and wanting food. The bar didn't have much left, being at late at night. All they had left was some chicken wings, celery, and blue cheese dressing. They spiced up the wings and served it with what they had. It was a hit.
YOU GUYS ARE HERE IN MY HOMETOWN- SO AWESOME. (YES WE GET SNOW HERE IN WNY. = WHEN THE FLAKES ARE COMING AT U, ITS LIKE DRIVING IN WARP SPEED)--- STILL NOT FUN. HAPPY TRAVELS WHILE YOUR HERE. SO MUCH TO SEE HERE IN WNY.-- and yes we most definitely have the best wings here in wny in the world.
Your wrong about the street lights. The first city in the United States to successfully demonstrate electric lighting was Cleveland, Ohio with 12 electric lights around the Public Square road system on 29 April 1879. Wabash, Indiana lit 4 Brush arc lamps with 3,000 candlepower each, suspended over their courthouse on 2 February 1880.
Donut craze in Buffalo has good donuts too, for chicken wings my favorite are swistons and grovers, grovers also has the best burgers in town, as for pizza my favorite is la Nova and and santoras in the Southtowns.
WOW!!!! Awesome video guys! So that plate of wings with the turtle shell bowls, was that a 10 piece???? We are visiting Buffalo end of this month.(June) We are hoping to go into Canada. Looks like the Border into Canada is closed until June 21st. Anyway, We are looking forward to trying the Wings. Thanks for sharing........not the wings but the video. lol lol :)
I had a hamburger at the restaurant at the top of the American Falls at Niagara Falls made with one of those kosher salted sesame buns. I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but I got a bad case of gout the very next day!

The new favorite for beef on weck is Adrian’s on Grand Island, but they are only open seasonally so visit in the summer on your way to the falls!
That is not a Blizzard that is light snow around here, Welcome to the city of good neighbors, have fun
@giantmidget08 I was here for the Blizzard of 1977, now that was a Blizzard and I drove every day helping friends who needed a ride lol.
Wanted to add that these people did not drive through a blizzard. You crawl through a blizzard. That was a light wet snow flurry.
Man that roast beef sandwich looked absolutely delicious! 😋
Happy New Year from over the pond 🙋🇬🇧
Love watching your videos. Wondered if you have any eaten anything that you didn’t like? I can’t remember seeing you not like something haha
They did one in Sweden where they went to a weird/horrible food museum.
Sgt Steel I remember that one, the food there is meant to be horrible 👍
I just wondered if any restaurants/cafes they visit don’t have especially nice food 🙂
The origin story of Buffalo wings is similar to the origin story of nachos. I love that these iconic dishes are created at the spur of the moment
i wouldn't call that a blizzard...but thanks for coming to Buffalo!!
Just ate at Pappys Smokehouse in St. Louis summer 2019. Hope to see that place in your video
The bun is named Kimmelweck, another one of the ethnic foods in Bflo -shortened to "weck"
Ooh I slept on the USS little rock for venture crew! Y'all were close to Syracuse
Well deserved 2019 travellers award, looking forward to 2020 guys 🌟😘✌️💕🥂👏👏👏👏👏
You guys have the luck of finding places are closed upon your arrival. I guess you visit so many attractions it’s bound to happen sometimes but you really swing for the fences for getting “shut out” a lot. Thankfully you never let it ruin a day of adventures. XO
Barbill all the way for good wings!
SMALL WORLD - I actually was on Naked Island when you guys were vlogging. That is how I found your channel. I live in Buffalo!
You should of went to The Bar Bill Tavern on Main st in East Aurora. They have been named best in Buffalo for both Chicken Wings and Beef on Weck. My favorite wings are in Niagara Falls at Mister Bs bar
Should have gone......
That beef on weck looked delicious! I want one! Unfortunately, Buffalo is about 400 miles from where I live. No big distance for you guys, but major for me. Oh well. I will just have to find a place here in downstate NY that has something like that sandwich.
Congrats on your award and remember what Yogi Berra said “when you come to a fork in the road, take it”.
I've been following you guys for a good while now, and the amount of food you two put away, you should be the size of trucks!
I love my city! We have great food here!
Garlic parm wings are so freaking good 😲
Paulas was actually just named the best donuts in New York State
I wasn't aware that Peanut Sticks were a Buffalo specific Item... but now that I think of it, I've never seen them anywhere else
Happy new year to you and all your fans 🥂
Those donuts look like potatoes. Now the story I heard about buffalo wings is that some men showed up at a bar drinking of course and wanting food. The bar didn't have much left, being at late at night. All they had left was some chicken wings, celery, and blue cheese dressing. They spiced up the wings and served it with what they had. It was a hit.
Great video!
We LOVE our town & you showed it well!!
Go Bills!!!
Probably shouldn't go to buffalo in winter and research some spots you intend on going to find out when they are open
Wonderful vid never the less
Yes buffalo that’s where I’m from!
Come on over to Rochester, but come during lilac fest. Glad you are in NY, been watching for a couple years now. Safe travels.
MK5CNY DBreese Or jazz fest! The city is so alive during jazz fest.

May 9th 2020 lockdown ........ Still snowing...... Its a buffalo thing !!!
Happy new year!! from the U.K.
Peanut sticks are my favorite at Paula's
Weck is an old german Word for bun so this Restaurant might have german oder austrian roots. Happy new year from Germany
The full name is Kimmelweck roll. It's a hardroll with caraway and salt 😁
Well, I was Buffalo born and raised, and still learned some things in this video. 👍
Happy New Year!🎉🕰🎊⏳☕️
You’re both so close to Toronto!! Cross the border and come visit us!! We’ve got so much to see, and world class shopping and food.
Oringinal Pizza Logs!!
Another Delicacy is SPONGE CANDY!!
The blizzard of 77 that nearly killed Buffalo started off with fat fluffy snow while the sun was shining bright. Then the wind kicked off!
There should be a disclaimer not to watch this if you skipped lunch. Seriously though, this made me hungry.
