A tip I learned, only after visiting for months, was to order the wings extra-crispy. They are twice fried so the skin is extra-crispy. Didn't know one could do that, changed my wing eating experience forever.
Any self respecting wing place should be doing this anyways.
As a Buffalo native, I stay away from Anchor Bar and the likes, there are *way* better places to get good wings. You should always order wings extra-crispy and a medium to hot depending on your taste. The only places that you can go that make absolutely amazing wings are all holes in the walls.
Look for the older delis/pizza/sub joints and you'll find the good wings at a decent price. There was a place my mother spoke of that had amazing wings, ran by a a legit old-fat italian dude with a deli in South Buffalo. I've gotten them once when I was a kid, hands down the best wings I've gotten ever, no nostalgia, no styrofoam.
Not that big of a deal though since it's like required for you to know how to make your own wings here, lol.

Robert Rodgers Even better, get them extra crispy on the grill! There’s a few place in Buffalo that do that
They are not fried twice because once you sauce them the moisture in the sauce will cause a grease fire if you stick them in the fryer again. After you sauce them, stick them under the broiler instead.

I love getting Bar Bill Spicy asian wings from the takeout and walking next door to Aurora Brew Works for a beer.
Also, Moor Pat and their 716 wings are pretty darn good, they were right up the hill when you were at Glen Park.

When you get wings in a styrofoam container, the moister gets locked and you lose all the crispiness. Should’ve have tried them all plated!

Yup, and if you ARE getting them to go, i alwys crack the top open for the drive, same way with any chicken/fries/etc like raising canes, i always crack it open on the way back from lunch, also you get to enjoy a couple fries while you drive :D
Good point but it looks like he eats the wings in the containers outside of the restaurants, so they shouldn't be that soggy.
Considering he eats them right outside the restaurants that may play into it some, but not that much, if the wings were really crispy, a minute inside those wouldn't make them really soggy suddenly, that happens over time, the time it takes to walk out of the building is not long.

I grew up in buffalo and this is such a throwback for me :) a must for me for wings is that the meat has to absolutely fall apart from the meat. Duffs was our go to when we lived there. I’ve lived in 3 different states and traveled the entire midwest and east coast and buffalo has BY FAR the best food. Thanks for the episode!
Maangchi has an amazing recipe for wings and peanuts. Everyone requests I bring them to everything. They're super crispy but the sauce loosens them up just enough.

First of all, great idea to go to Buffalo and sample the wings. My only gripe is that many of your samples came in a styrofoam boat. When you close that boat it steams the wings and immediately ruins the crunch. So maybe not a fair comparison. A place here in NJ cuts 1/2 inch holes in their boats so as not to ruin the crunch. I feel like more places should be on board with that technique. Good job Delaney!

Unfortunately, you can go wrong. They can be overcooked, they can be undercooked, they can be too dry, the sauce could be gross or flavorless. That's why it's important to find *the best* buffalo wings; not just any wing will do, you know?
Think he means Buffalo's chicken wings, not actual buffalo wings. Generally, even our worst wings are a good meal

Been a Duffs' guy since I was old enough to appreciate wings. Living in Virginia, it's impossible to find a real chicken wing. The over sauced, tiny, mushy, Buffalo Wild Wing style wing needs to disappear! I stop at Duffs every time I'm in Buffalo. Guess I've got to expand my horizons! It's just that compared to home wings, Duffs is so much better, I can't imagine there being a better wing. Nice vid!
