Just an fyi to anyone else doing this, if ur bike is older especially, take some parts cleaner, n bath the stator cover and the pulley cover, why not. You have it all apart anyway. This is a great video.
Hi there, I did the same on my 2007 yesterday. I'm a bit of handy man. Not a mechanic by any means. The Australian version of the bike doesn't have the same backing plate, behind the pulley that you have. It's shorter. So, less work. Not need to remove it. It took me around 4 hours (by myself). I jacked the bike up and started unscrewing everything. I watched your video twice. Great help. Thanks...you rock. I ordered everything from Aliexpress in China. Under AUS$ 90 for Stator and Regulator. Changed both. It was all plug and play. I pulled the wires and plug under the seat...about middle of it, no need to remove the ignition key thingy. I also used the Original gasket as it looked like new. No leaks. Knock on wood. I did order a new gasket from Kawasaki. Will return it now. Keep up the good work and stay safe. @@robertbukovac2842 Hey Rob, the bike needs the stator replaced ,so ordered the parts and only got as the drive pully , gonna let the bike shop have a play.....Cheers
Thanks for making the video. I found it very helpful with replacing my failed stator. Watching you helped me have the confidence that I could do it and did not require special tools.
This video has been of great help. Had to deal with this very problem; thanks for detailing step by step and for taking out the fear of dealing with the pulley.
Thanks for making this video very helpful but I thank you made a mistake. The stator grommet has a notch on the bottom so it can go under the pick up coil grommet. Just noticed this on my Vulcan there would've been a void between to two grommets that could very likely cause a leak. So anyone changing your own watch out for this and cover the grommets with small layer of RTV before assembly
Is it necessary to seal around the stator's electric wire/grommet where it exits the generator case (where oil is present). I seem to have a leak on mine only when it runs hot. I have it narrow down to that area and I plan to replace the whole gasket but am unsure about the two rubber grommet seals that protect those two harnesses.
Hmm I may need to do this. My battery stopped charging recently on the bike when running, reving the throttle results in no voltage increase on the battery. Rectifier or stator?
You can see it here for $129: rmstator.com/en_us/regulator-mosfet-for-arctic-cat-prowler-tbx-tvr-kawasaki-jet-ski-kaf-kvf-krf-vulcan-yamaha-v-star-lta-ltf-1999-2019 The MOSFET type regulator is more reliable and accurate regulation, and stays cooler in normal operation. It is a reliability upgrade over the stock type regulator.
I'm having trouble getting any slack on the belt. Where exactly are you placing the jack. I tried it on the swing arm but it just wants to tip the bike to the side when jacking up. Any suggestions ?
Just back out your swing arm adjusters in the rear. Make note of where they are before hand. There should be a notch on the adjuster and lines on the swingarm
So, you did not replaced the center bolt with a 2nd gen hollow one for better oil flow? That bolt is the problem on the pre 2014 models. Up to your next repair.
@@SilverBulletNation Just loosen the belt with the adjustment bolts at the rear wheel. I did a lot extra unnecessary work because I got frustrated and cut the belt off. Lol. You can also loosen the frame and it’ll give you a lot of slack. Like I did here. th-cam.com/video/-s03RZ2LTV0/w-d-xo.html
no you don’t. You can use the same one. I replaced just the stator in my first Vulcan and had no issues for as long as I had the bike afterwords. About to replace the stator on my Vulcan I have now on Friday. Good luck brother

Hi. Where you able to get some slack out of the belt to get it off the pulley?
The gasket you have leaning against the bike in the first shots doesn't look anything like the stator cover gasket needed, as shown at 13:00
Thanks for this. Very clear instructions & well done video.
Great video. I did mine a year ago. Same sequence. Naw. Never cut new wires. Do not invite corrosion
I agree, don't bother cutting the stator harness to route them. Just take the belt and pulley off, it's not too difficult!

why are you guys not de-pinning the plugs and then just pulling the wires thru? No need to cut, or to remove the pulley

Why do you use red thread locker and not blue? Won’t the red thread locker make it too difficult to replace next time?
Nice video man. Thank you for you lesson and time .
Hi great vid
I noticed your drive belt has white lines on the edges..from rubbing. Is that common with the Vulcan 900s?
What you see is kevlar. Every belt rubs and travel.
What is the advantage of the upgrade regulator. Rectifier. Price??
You can see it here for $129:

before changing the stator to some noise like a vibration?
The stator should not be able to cause a noise or vibration, but if it was badly damaged that is possible.

There is no way you put that belt back on the pulley by hand.
