My wife and I frequently ride 2 up (combined weight 350 lbs), still plenty of power. With its low CG, the bike is super stable in turns and at low speeds. The Vulcan900 is neither a sport bike nor an interstate touring bike! It is a medium duty cruiser that is optimal for day trips on two lane twisties. Its sweet spot is in the 50-55 mph range. For speeds 65 and up, the buzz - no 6th gear! - becomes increasingly noticeable. This is not a problem for me cuz I rarely cruise faster than 65 on this bike, even though the top end is allegedly 85-90mph. Friend's son just bought a 2009 Vulcan in great condition. I'm not a crusier rider (BMW MC owner) but can definitely see the appeal. Nice torque. Think front tire size too small (80/90 - 21) in relation to huge rear tire. Not a good handling machine compared to BMW but nice bike. I'm taking upon helping this 22yr old computer geek (6'4") learn to ride. Wish us safe travels!
I've had a 07 900 classic for three years and I love it. It's all the bike I could ever want. Ride almost daily. Done several trips on it and it takes everything I can throw at it and it just shrugs it off...
Dude, im 6'1 and those bars are the most uncomftable bars i have ever riden with, for me above 80kph(50mph) my back would start to hurt and if your on a crappy road, you dont feel like your in control cause the bars are too close to your kness. Ya gotta put on some scorpion buck horns, same width a little bit higher, with'in the first mile you will notice a big improvment in comfort and handling, trust me. Love my 2008, 900 classic..
I have a 2009 classic lt I've tweaked it a little, blows HD off the road and doesn't leak oil ALL over the place, and much better gas mileage. Wouldn't take a gold HD for it.
Have you added a Barron's 34 tooth front pulley? It like adding a overdrive. I can idle at 70 mph just covering the throttle with No Vibration. Best mod and just around $140..
I just got a '07 Custom 900 (16k) for $2800 from a "brother"... Fuel injected. Love the spoke alloy wheels! I'm only 135 lbs but my feet are flat to the ground and I can maneuver pretty easy. Can't wait. Fall in New England. Thanks for the vids!

I have a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 custom and I love it! It’s got a cobra exhaust, cobra air intake, and cobra fuel system and it’s beautiful, easy to ride, and loud!
Vulkan 900 was my first bike. It's great at all points for the beginner, but after the first season, I wanted to change it to something more agile. It's comfortable and stable, but it's too wide, heavy and hulking for a city. It literally floats along the road like a ship! It not always can pass traffic jams. It's noticable that it was made 15 years ago. Thinking about a new SRV 550 (former Benelli Lioncino).
Thank u for this review, living in NYC I need to lane split traffic as well maneuver and handle well. It's very dangerous and hard to ride the city here. A Yamaha bolt 950 was my favorite city cruiser I owned
Just got a 2010 Vulcan 900, great bike love it so comfortable, I absolutely disagree with the wind shield comment bud. I have had a windshield on my sporty and my Vulcan makes the ride so much better I love a good windshield
I’m in the process of buying a 2009 with 1500 miles. I thought this might turn be one of those negative “before you buy” videos and I’m so much more excited now
Just saw your video after buying mine... :) I'm picking up my 2019 tomorrow. When I tried it, I felt just as you described. I'm coming from Sport Touring (VFR800), so this is very different. Can't wait!! I will check your other vids. Cheers.
My 2006 Kawasaki 750cc Vulcan is junk. Had to replace Stator which you have to pull the engine to get to. New chain tensioner . At 2.400 miles. A fault on all Vulcans. I'm looking for a bigger bike now
Stator is a much easier fix on the 900 than on the 750, and the newer models (2010 or so onwards) seem less prone to stator issues. That said I'm in the process of checking the charging system on my '12 but I'm 90% sure I've killed 2 batteries in as many months due to a really cold winter and bloody lockdowns limiting use. Fingers crossed anyway!
love your videos and the superb sound of the twins-how do you cut wind noise? I got a really nice Suzuki C50, it and the Vulcan 900 are my favorite bikes. I like shopping in your site, the only concern is do you let the bike get up to running temperature before opening them up? May not really hurt them but I take it easy for a few minutes till I go highway speed.
This is one of the very first videos I ever saw on a Kawasaki Vulcan. It's an amazing bike. The only thing I wish right now, since this model is still on sale brand new, that it had ABS. Between the classic and the S model, I most definitely like the first one better. That was some nice riding. Thanks for the video. 👍

Really righteous video,,, good info. So, what's the beef ? The title of video sounded negative.... / Question: "why don't you like windshield's". ??? Just curious? (I never had one either).
I've had/have several bikes - the V-Strom1000 was too tall, dropped it twice, the ST1100 was better but I still need longer legs, rode my buddy's 883 custom and thought it was a dog, got a Yamaha V-Star 1300 that's strong pulling throughout the rpm range - starts pulling well in 5th at 70, but it's a bit heavy. I like your review and the 900 is looking good to me.
Sean, I really value your opinion on cycles, therefore I ask you the following>>> which one of the three would you say (In your humble opinion of course) is the best value>>.1- Kawasaki1700 Vaquero, 2. 1700 Roadstar, OR the 1700 Triumph Thunderbird????? ( I'm assuming you have ridden all three)
i have riden and owned all three. assuming that you are comparing all similar year bikes, i would say that the kawasaki is best value, followed closely by the road star with the triumph trailing behind. you can get those vulcans for pretty cheap.
My 2010 900 custom se is amazing. With 21" front tire, barrons pulley, front pegs and drag hadlebars really allow me to really hit the twisties....Went on a group ride and a couple of experience Ducatti riders said you can hang with us anytime... I was humbled by that...
I know this video is a couple of years old. But im almost at my end of my 'sport' bike life. Meaning, my wife fell in love when i took her on a VTX1800. And i looked at a. KAWI 900 CLASSIC. She is not a small girl by all means. My question is. Is this 900 strong enough to get out of its own way with me and her on it. Total weight about 500lbs max.
I just bought a 2007 vulcan 900 custom with low miles. I love it. There's a small plastic knob thing on the front right of the motor, does anyone know what this is? It feels loose.
Question to you since you got a history with motorcycles and people buying what would you recommend for someone who is 5’7 140 pounds been looking into cruisers or a bobber.
Hey man, which Cobra's are those ? I'm looking at purchasing a Vulcan at the end of this winter in Aus and am looking at customisation options. These sound quite nice and aren't too stubby like the short shot style pipes.
Would u say this is a good bike for riding with passanger? Especially if I get back rests? Looking for a cheap older cruiser to ride with teh ol lady, I have fz-07 and riding two up sucks on that thing
I have watched many of your video's and i want to thank you. I am only 5'9 and road the royal star venture and the 1700 road star and both were to high for me. I had a 750 but it was not good enough for the highway, i was wondering if this 900 would be ok on the highway?
I'm 5.3".. Due to my memories with someone, I wanted to buy XVS dragstar classic 650.. but it was too heavy for me.. bruh ... That sound of this Vulcan, that fact that it's light, low handles, your satisfied comments.. I'm sold 🖤🙏😭

Sean, that is such a great review!.....and that is the perfect bike for me! I own a SV650 Suzinator right now and while I love this bike, at 66 years young, think it soon will be time to throw a leg over a cruiser. You have made my mind up! @@SebastianWoodard check the air cleaner for mice nest...unless the tires are brand new, put brand new tires on it...you never know what those tires have been through...i rode mine for 3 years with the tires that came on it...just put brand new on this year and the bike rides completely different and so much better
@gramagy How much did you pay for it? I’m looking at the 09 Vulcan 900 and it’s around $4500 CAD for used with 10-15,000 km. Is that a good deal?
@@sobantahir1011 mine was cheaper, but it was 4 years ago... that price seems a little high, but the market is strange
@@gramagy today february 2024 in Greece it costs 5300 EUROS
I finally bought my first bike, VN 900 Custom 2010 - it's just awesome! I think I watched this and your other vn900 related videos several times :D I just love it! Been riding about a month and I love how it handles, how it purrs (non stock short pipes) like an angry beast :D
If you add a barrons 34 tooth front pully it will give you so much more...I have the exact bike.... Love getting complements for my bike.... ride safe my friend..are you on Facebook Vulcan group? Tons of good people and help
Is it a Custom Special Edition? If so that's what I have and absolutely love her..
Great vid just bought an 07 vulcan 900. LOVE IT! My first bike was indeed a yamaha 650 v star classic, definite upgrade!
Beautiful bike I just ordered a 2019 after being laid up for the past two years because of a massive shoulder surgery I decided I owe it to myself!
congrats dude! ride safe.
Congratulations on the acquisition! I'm on a 80 CB750 painting greater New Haven area! Happy riding bruh stay safe 🚲💨💨
connj67 hey bud I'm 160lbs, how has the weight treated you? I'm going for a fat boy kind of bike, but I don't have the money for the HD so I was looking at this or a Honda shadow aero. Being a smaller dude myself, just wondering how it's been for you? 👍
@@willmann30is 13000 for a 2007 trike conversion in Canada too much
I agree with the power comparison. I've always liked Sportsters but stock 883's are gutless in comparison to the metric cruisers.
They sound pretty good for what they are, but they are not very powerful
how does this compare to the VN 1500? im considering getting either but i cant really decide, the 1500 is abit harder to get hands on here, i had a Dragstar 1100 which i wasnt really happy with.
Thumps up for another great video, which helped me a lot, because I'm probably buying one, the same colour, tomorrow. I had all kind of motorcycles in the past but cruisers were my secret love and i hope tomorrow to be able to make my dream come true. Greetings from beautifull Greece!!!
Just bought my second vulcan 900 for my brother! Amazing bike! I put just over 10k miles on mine last year!
Picked up a 2006 Vulcan 900 Classic as my first bike last week. Loving it!
I thought this might turn be one of those negative “before you buy” videos and I’m so much more excited now
I love this bike so much. I'm 15 it's my first bike it's its perfect for me. Comfortable good amount of power to it and sounds good
Got it for 3k with just under 6k miles and no dents or scratches what so ever
have fun kid. still enjoyin it?
Add a Barrons 34 tooth pulley and it will really increase performance....
Best mod and only around $140.00
Just saw your video after buying mine... :) I'm picking up my 2019 tomorrow. When I tried it, I felt just as you described. I'm coming from Sport Touring (VFR800), so this is very different. Can't wait!! I will check your other vids. Cheers.
Would you have any hands or knees left if you fell off?
I just learned to ride on my friends 900 custom. It was easy to learn on and it had a nice punch to it. Very comfortable.
I just bought the custom 900 and love it. Was thinking of getting a windshield for it. Curious as to why you hate them?
love your videos and the superb sound of the twins-how do you cut wind noise? I got a really nice Suzuki C50, it and the Vulcan 900 are my favorite bikes. I like shopping in your site, the only concern is do you let the bike get up to running temperature before opening them up? May not really hurt them but I take it easy for a few minutes till I go highway speed.
This is one of the very first videos I ever saw on a Kawasaki Vulcan. It's an amazing bike. The only thing I wish right now, since this model is still on sale brand new, that it had ABS. Between the classic and the S model, I most definitely like the first one better. That was some nice riding. Thanks for the video. 👍
I have the 06 Vulcan Classic and I love it. Bought it used with 41,000 miles. It now has 69,500 miles.
I’ve had my blue VN900 2010 for years and I love it. If I was to upgrade, I would to a Vulcan vaquero.
So why don’t you like windshields I am considering one of these bikes and I like and don’t like the windshield for a few reasons, just want to know your opinion.
Love your channel!
Those pipes are perfect. You can leave your neighborhood quietly which is important to me
In the beginning of the video he said it has cobra pipes but at 1:35 he says it has VNH pipes??? Which is it? Lol
One of each .lol
nice girls bike...mine is the 1700 nomad..still vulcan, runs great, very comfy out on road..
I love the vids man, what camera are you using to get good audio?
OMG
I just picked up a 23 Vulcan 900 classic, I love it.
Its my dream bike! Regards from Germany!
I'm going to be getting the 08 model of this. These are real nice and you cant beat the power for the price. Solid bike. Can't wait to ride again
Tricked out my V900 LT. LOVE IT! More fun than Disney, and no waiting in line!
just bought a 2006, with cobra pipes and batwing on it, i love it. your vid convinced me brother!
How many miles does it have?
@@higuy715 22000KM, so about 13000 miles
I have a Candy Lime Green 08 Custom with Cobra pipes and She is gorgeous, only had 1800 miles. I love my BIKE! I am a 57 year old female. Next bike will be a Vaquero....Already
You are having too much fun on that Kawi bro LOL! But it sounds so damn good!
haha it is a great bike to ride, and im having too much fun at my job
ok lol
Hey Sean! Im a huge fan! Trying to get my first bike, I had ride scooter like 150cc little stuff in the past but not big stuff! Im 5'7 and 340 pounds would you recommend me this bike or a yamaha stryker instead thanks!
love the video. picked up a 2006 vulcan 900 yesterday. im not so patiently waiting for delivery on tuesday
how much would it be to ship it to CA? I'm interested in some of your bikes, but so many of the dealers near me either overprice it (way higher than most of your prices), or are just lacking in variety.
Been stalking the channel:) about to pull the trigger on a 900 classic. Think u sold me. Only ridden older Suzuki tc 90 and Suzuki 250 enduro. 18 yrs ago. Luv the channel. And the beard :)
I'm 6ft4 300 pounds. Would this be a good starter bike for me or should I go to the 1500?
Sean, I really value your opinion on cycles, therefore I ask you the following>>> which one of the three would you say (In your humble opinion of course) is the best value>>.1- Kawasaki1700 Vaquero, 2. 1700 Roadstar, OR the 1700 Triumph Thunderbird????? ( I'm assuming you have ridden all three)
i have riden and owned all three. assuming that you are comparing all similar year bikes, i would say that the kawasaki is best value, followed closely by the road star with the triumph trailing behind. you can get those vulcans for pretty cheap.
This video has made me want a 900 Vulcan.
Bob G. I’ve owned Harley, VStar and Honda. My Vulcan 900 Classic is by far the best bike I’ve ever owned.
I have the same question. Together we are 450# and almost killed my SR400 LOL
Nice video. Is it a good beginner bike?
I love Harley but I have a Kawasaki 900 classic I love it rides greats
The sound is just the best thing I've ever heared.
I just bought a 2007 vulcan 900 custom with low miles. I love it. There's a small plastic knob thing on the front right of the motor, does anyone know what this is? It feels loose.
I'll never understand why people hate on Japanese bikes. I LOVE my Vulcan 900 Classic.
Downside of Yamaha? Carburetors have simple gravity feed. No electronic sensors no fuel pumps to go out no junk.
Question to you since you got a history with motorcycles and people buying what would you recommend for someone who is 5’7 140 pounds been looking into cruisers or a bobber.
Would like to know more about the bars as I have a 2007 custom and don't like the bars but like the western style on the classic
Hey man, which Cobra's are those ? I'm looking at purchasing a Vulcan at the end of this winter in Aus and am looking at customisation options. These sound quite nice and aren't too stubby like the short shot style pipes.
the bike has vance and hines not cobra
Would u say this is a good bike for riding with passanger? Especially if I get back rests? Looking for a cheap older cruiser to ride with teh ol lady, I have fz-07 and riding two up sucks on that thing
At 69 I want a relaxed reliable ride for my last bike.
Got no complaints with the 900
Have you gone cross country with it. Comfy?
Got 2008 classic, same color, different handlebars, love it
hi Shawn, I just want to know how reliable is Vulcan 900 ?
Thanks for the review. 👍
Bikes like that kill my abs trying to stay upright on the freeway without a windshield
I'm sold 🖤🙏😭
vulcan 900 or vstar 950? i want one, just not sure which to get. recommendation would be nice
Almost got one, in that color too. But it sold so I seddled for a V Star 650. Like it so far. Still kinda a new rider
I have to ask. I’m looking for a first bike with this be a good one.
Can anybody let me know if these are the stock bars rotated back a little, or if they are a after-market beach bar? Am picking up a 2009 Vulcan 900 this weekend. Will be bobbing it, Hydro-dip 'woodgrain' paint job (woody cruiser) booked in for next weekend, but has standard bars on it. I am after a classic retro look (and something unique with low slung beach style bars on a bobber as the VERY originals were). Like the look of the bars on this one, but not sure If I need to replace my stock bars for that look / style. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
I want to know about these bars also. I own this same bike, just got it, and I want lower bars.
Damn that sound is amazing! im even smilling only by watching you driving. its supercool and looks comfortable.
Sean, that is such a great review!.....and that is the perfect bike for me! I own a SV650 Suzinator right now and while I love this bike, at 66 years young, think it soon will be time to throw a leg over a cruiser. You have made my mind up! Think it would be a better choice than a C50 Suzuki (imho )
yeah these things are great, i was very surprised with how much i liked it
Love my Suzuki 650 bobber, the cruisers sling low and let the back and knees rest. I keep it because I'm sentimental but traded a Honda vtx 1300 for a Kawasaki 900 and love it. Fewer body aches for those of us a few years young.
Does the radiator fa throw hot air on your legs when it kicks on?..
Wanting to buymy first bike and I want it too sound nice but do they sell those things to make the exhaust quite
Cut offs or whatever
I have a 2010 Vulcan 900 Custom se.. Love it!!
I Picked up the 2019 Vulcan 900 LT two weeks ago and LOVE IT. Might be my forever bike
Hi Vee
Sorry for the 12 month late question
Ive just found a 2010 model I fancy
Its got 12000 on the clock so not too many miles .
Just wondered do you still feel they are a decent bike and have you had any issues eg belt or power plant.
Cheers
@@Lee-70ish Hi, I'm at 15K miles and no issues at all! I did find a great deal on a mustang seat and I do recommend replacing the front pulley w a Barons 34 tooth. You will just cover the throttle and do 70 all day w no vibration.
@@Lee-70ish Hi, It's a amazing bike and love mine. I do suggest a Barons 34 tooth front pulley. You will just idle at 70mph all day with no vibration and still have fast response to hit 80-90 mph should you want. It's kept me from getting a bigger bike. Another thing is to beware of ever riding on steel grates and ugh wet steel grating and to be careful on gravel. That narrow 21" front tire will allow you to keep up with sport bikes on the twisties but something to be respectful of..
This sure looks like the perfect bike for me !
I own one an it’s awesome. Good power, light, comfortable, a joy to ride
Any idea of what camera or rig he's using? Helmet/chest/go-pro
Looking at a 2010 limited edition kawasaki vulcan as we speak and yall
Guys making me want to purchase it
@Srkcycles So, in the backroads it's great, but would you recommend it if I plan on riding it mostly in the city? Or would you then recommend something a little smaller/lighter?
I ride one almost daily. It's a very comfortable bike for city riding as well
