    Okay, Randy, I ordered the adapter, and will admit that EA has done good work with this modification to old school headlights. You made a valid point in your response to my comment regarding the price of the work your team accomplished. After searching MANY options to mount an LED headlight in my bike, yours is the most convenient; and your instructions on youtube are easy to follow. Well done EA. I stand corrected.

      I can't tell you the brand of the headlight I bought. There was no logo or other ID'ing info on this relatively inexpensive, but effective l.e.d. bulb(s) or the pkg material. The fit was a bit tortured, but in the final analysis, worth doing. I had to use different (stainless) screws, but I had those on hand. The sizing of the nylon nut was a minor annoyance. This is a good upgrade for the not-so-well lighted roads of my beloved Florida.

    I had to tweak a couple minor items during the install, but it's on the bike with an LED lamp. A couple of my issues on a 2023 Kawi 900: the lamp wouldn't allow for a proper seating of the chrome ring and the bracket. The lamp I purchased had an edge that was approximately 1/4 thicker than others that I've seen installed on TH-cam. But I had three 3/4" stainless, hex head screws; so that worked out. One of the two openings for the two nylon nuts was too narrow, but a quick brush against my belt sander did the trick. All in all, the bracket, while pricey, was the only solution I could find to add the illumination and aesthetic I was after.

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the feedback. We are making some minor tweaks to the nut well so it won't be too tight. Aside from sanding the nut, another solution would be to gently pry open the folded tabs - they are sometimes over-folded. Can you advise which headlight you used?

  • @loribeal8197

    I just installed this on my 2013 Vulcan 900 classic. Everything went together fairly easily as per the video. However, I found that the headlight that I purchased separately was loose in the adapter. I waited until it was all assemble and found it was still loose. So I put 3 small pieces of felt pads (that had to be trimmed to fit well) close to the notches in the bracket. That did the job. Now it is nice and snug. Thank you for a great product.

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lori, thank you for the feedback! Great little trick with the pads! We try to improve our products whenever possible and feedback like this is critical. Completed mine yesterday on a Vulcan Classic. Just a note on my experience:
    Everything went quickly until securing the light adjustment bracket. It felt like I might strip out the screw or the housing because of the angle. Instead of creating an issue, I found it very easy to measure, and then simply back off the tension on the lamp adjustment screw. (5:00 in video) Went together much easier. Headlight aim was right on. Drove around last night and man - new LED (with Halo) is awesome!!

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  ปีที่แล้ว

      We considered using that method in the video. We used a set of mics to measure ours when we did it. However, we figured not everyone has something to make such precise measurements. Even with that, there's no guarantee that a new headlight will hold the same aimpoint but pre-measuring should at least get you back in the ballpark. This is why we highly suggest everyone check the aim after the installation. This is a great alternative method. Thanks for mentioning it!

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the feedback, but that's an apples to oranges comparison. That LED light, with all of the "tech", was manufactured in China, with chinese parts, supporting Chinese jobs - and at high volume. Our products are low-volume, manufactured in America supporting American jobs. Our pricing reflects the high-cost of low-volume manufacturing.

    Great product finally got mine installed! Just as a heads up on some Vulcan headlights the nylon nuts may be too big to fit initially so keep some sand paper nearby to adjust their size or just buy new ones your call! Also offset screwdrivers do wonders for the issue of the adjustment bracket.

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have noticed that the well for the nylon nut sometimes has overbend from the brake form. An alternative to sanding the nylon nut is to gently pry the rear tabs back to allow the nut to insert into the well.

      We all ride here. We completely understand that each time we purchase an upgrade or accessory we need to justify the purchase price and often run through the same series of questions everyone else does. Is it necessary? Can I fabricate something on my own? Does it save me time? What is my time worth?
      Some creative people have fabricated their own solution but this is a superior solution in every way. From our standpoint, low-volume production is very expensive. Sometimes, we struggle just to find a manufacturer willing to help because they all want high-volume work. Fortunately, we have found some great local manufacturers who have worked with us, but that quality and workmanship comes at a premium! Just know, should you decided to move forward with your purchase, we offer great support!

      That wouldn't be our headlight, we don't sell LED lights with the turn signals. However, you will discover that LED signal lights have very little electrical resistance which can cause hyperflash or other issues. The system reads the lack of resistance as a "blown bulb". Often a resistor module is required to make the signals work normally.

    Okay but there is a huge designer flaw there is a substantial gap between the housing and the new headlamp itself causing the headlight to shake profusely and making a loud sound. What have you come up for a solution to this I was thinking of weatherproofing it just like you would your door but shouldn't have to do that if this is a housing to fit the Vulcan headlamp housing.

      Maybe you should investigate the cost of low-volume and short-run production before judging if the cost is reasonable. These are made in America, using American workforce supporting American families. Admittedly, the chrome clamp ring is offshore-sourced but only b/c we haven't found a US-based manufacturer to produce it, but we are always looking. I would like to add that very few companies make products for these bikes. Would you like to know the reasons? 1) Capital. It costs a lot for r&d, it costs a lot to start-up an it costs a lot for the type of ongoing manufacturing previously mentioned.
      These aren't those popular American-made bikes where 10,000 units are sold each year. 2) Lack of support. The irony is that while most owners will complain they can't find enough aftermarket support, those same owners complain that the little support that is available is expensive. You simply don't get it both ways - you either have no aftermarket support or you pay the cost for those companies willing to step up and invest in tooling and manufacturing, those willing to accept the financial risk involved to manufacture parts that no other company is willing to do.

      It's really the aftermarket companies as they cater to the biggest market, which is Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most aftermarket LED lights are a direct-fit for HD or even Jeeps, but not metric bikes. Over the years, some crafty people have come up with DIY-remedies but none of them are great solutions. The Engineered Adapters' bracket turns this into a 20-minute installation! After aiming your new light, you are back to riding!

    • @EngineeredAdapters

      You have to remember that the headlights in that price range are made in China and we, in America, can't even compete with that pricing. Since these fit a limited selection of models, we sell thousands of times fewer units than someone selling a 7" headlight. Short-run manufacturing is very costly in the States and we believe in Made in America. Maybe if the demand increases, we can justify tooling up to reduce manufacturing costs which would then drive the price down. In the meantime, we want to thank all of those who have purchased and helped support a small, family-run, American-made business.

    After all that work the adapter didn't take my nylon nuts. Extremely disappointed. Even if it did fit, the opening for the screws to go through is too small on the back side so the screw wouldn't go in all the way anyway. It's as if someone made this bracket and didn't even see if everything would fit properly. How do you run a business with selling unacceptable product to costumers? Pathetic

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did you reach out to us about this issue? We looked and did not see any emails from you reporting this issue to us. Maybe it was just easier to come here and comment instead? We back up our products and we could have simply advised you that it's likely that the tabs may have been slightly overbent in manufacturing, creating too small of a pocket for the nylon nut. The fact that you mentioned the screw not fitting indicates to me this is exactly what happened. The solution is as easy to placing a screwdriver into the nut well and slightly prying the bend open. This would provide both a larger slot for the nylon nut and open up the slot for the screw clearance.
      Customer feedback is important for most any company to address issues, in this case quality-control, and to make further improvements to products. Engineered Adapters relies on this and takes this seriously. When it's just one person, we consider it an isolated incident. When several people mention this, we take a closer look. Several customers have mentioned how tight the nut well is when trying to fit in the nylon nut but no one has stated it was impossible. It has, however, caused us to take a look at our dimensional data to determine if a change is required. No quality control department checks every item so it's possible some issues may arise at the customer level but we handle each of these case-by-case.
