What an episode! We install a modern Sentry hardtop from Patriot Fastbacks (patriotfastbac...) on our 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon! Previously it came with a worn and torn fast back soft top which was very noisy, didn't insulate the inside very well, and had tons of leaks due to the less than desirable zippers. Factory hard tops are becoming more difficult to find and come by these days, and when you do find one, they have been used and abused. With the patriot top, you get some serious quality, literally rhino lined, insulated, and even has room for the wiper and defroster. Comes with Recessed and tinted rear windows, and best of all, the company is run by US veterans, and all the tops are built right here in the USA! Seriously so cool!

That’s a very nice top! I like the fact that you showed some of the problems that took place on the install. Not as easy as tossing it on there especially with the weight of that thing! Hope it really cut down on your noise level!

Had my Jeep for a week and gave my hardtop away and never looked back .bikini top and half doors for summer .full doors and bikini top in winter .all good 👍

What's funny is I put that hard top on and take it off by myself every year. Lol. And I'm 5'8 and the jeep has 35s and a 4 inch lift. Lol I guess people are right I really am strong. Lol I even carpeted it last summer and LOVE it
Thing is this top is super heavy

Desktop feel like how the rear windows are set up.
you probably have to adjust your doors by the hinge bolts to fit the top perfectly. The doors on all CJ, YJ, TJ's shift with use.

Great looking jeep. After watching the installation of the hardtop I was taken back to when I first removed mine. Best thing I ever done was purchased a Top Lift Pro. It works on my 2005 tj perfect. I can now remove and install my Top by myself in just minutes.

Dont feel so bad aileen my wife literally cried tears when she helped me put my hard top back on and i have a jk not a jku so the top is smaller with no roof part.Greg you should put the top on an angle so you can get your hands out then put the back seat down and get in and use your back bent over to lift it and set it into place.It looks great congratulations.

They make a convertible soft top for the TJ where you don't have to take the whole top off it is boneless with no extra hardware that basically takes up your trunk space also they sell a two-piece hardtop so you can remove the peace over the driver but leave the back on
Definitely a frustrating job, But youse did great. I have a 04 LJ with an aftermarcket two piece had top. I hang it from the garage ceiling with wratchet straps 2x4s and a few I-bolts for like 50 bucks. One man on and off but still takes forever. Put a removable moonroof in it and you'll love it.
Ahh hopefully one day we could have a tall enough garage to do this!

Love my hardtop. Always put it on for winter. Upstate NY can be cold and snowy. Would love the lights. Been thinking about upgrading from stock.

Too bad they don’t make their fastback style for LJ’s. I looked at their site. Love the look of the fastback style tops.
Reach out to them, they may be able to whip something up for you
Footmen loop is in the center. That way when you drop the windshield it latches to the loop on the hood using jeep provided velcro strap

Should have paid extra for the install. Slamming the door shut isn't good. Means something is either in the way or adjustment may need to be done.

I am sure someone has pointed this out to you, but the footman loop is the loop in the middle of the top of the windshield.
I guess some have footma loops where the latches go..i.e. on the JK

Boy.... I sure don't like those front latches.... I beat the crap out of mine and they've held up great but those... With a self tapping screw.. that's too bad. But the top looks great! Keep those latches down and I was gonna say use power tools to tighten the 6 rear screws for a good seal so it doesn't bounce!

QC on the top very poor. I returned the one for my TJ because it was such a poor fit. I will be interested in seeing how the seal on the windshield hold up to rain and highway. I ended up finding a used hardtop and it fit perfectly.

You need to get a harken hoister for taking off and putting on your hard tops, makes things so much easier!!

That’s not where the footman loop goes. I’m sure you know this by now, but that’s where the hard top mounts. Footman loop is above the rear view mirror

Wow I think you should trim rubbers and weather stripping and I think doors will fit better but mine went on a lot easier than that but I had everything ready to go and read the destruction beforehand. Awesome job none the less and thanks for sharing.

Its so weird to me that a Jeep wouldn't come with a hardtop, but I also am in cold Canada, haha! That top does look pretty nice though - love the headliner, recessed windows and steel plates! The only thing I would want personally is the 'freedom' style top for my TJ (like the JKs). This video reminds me I need to swap tops soon too, haha!

That's the issue with after market tops they just don't fit very well.. I guess it's no big deal to install those pieces everytime to put on soft top but the factory doesn't have that issue. Plus for the amount u prob spent on that I don't know how long those from self taps will last taking top on and off

Just added you guys on IG. Some slick installs and step by steps. You might try loosening everything and then closing the doors and tightening it all back up. Should solve your slamming door issue. Looks great

Well it’s gets to do it early so the seals from your door and the NEW seals from the top seat properly. Great job though. I’m sure they will loosen up and fitment will settle. 👍🏾
