My second time watching. So happy to be a parrot head. He is very bright and happy which equals a life well lived. I agree about rejection and failure are the building blocks of success. Brooklyn
Met Jimmy in 1977 at the Keg & Cork on Madeira Beach, Fla, he stopped in to see Harry Daley who had a 'beach bar band' when not touring with Jimmy. I think he was having his boat, "Euphoria" keel-hauled. Been fan since "A White Sport Coat". Thanks Jimmy............ 'Lava Lamp' on desk................
Jimmy is great. I was playing him on the FM rock radio station when I was a DJ back in 1976. I worked at a studio in South Florida. In 1979. I used all of his studio musicians. And the Miami Symphony Orchestra. I never got a chance to meet him. Interview him. Record him. But I sure do love margaritas and Key West. And that other product he is marketing. Which is also music to my ears and mixes. Don't leave home without it. Don't make a recording without it. He took lessons from the other fools that lost all of their money. They did coke. He does pot. Pot is cheap and friendly and easily renewable. It's ecologically sound. I mean you can make sound while protecting the ecology. Both. And it's kept my audio console working for 50 years now. Or maybe that's 45? Somewhere around there. Still going strong. They don't make stuff like this anymore. Dave Grohl has one from Sound City. I got one from TV City, NBC. In Washington DC. I've recorded the dead presidents. The real ones. The ones without guitars. And that's pretty groovy. And all they do is go blah blah blah blah blah. Because everybody voted for them. So I had to record most of my rock 'n' roll at home and nightclubs and theaters. If it wasn't for NBC. I never imagined I would go to work for the National Broad Chasing, company. And certainly not in the White House. I don't know how that happened? I had nothing to do with it. I was stoned the whole time. They took me out of their FM rock 'n' roll radio division. And put me in the White House with Ronnie and George HW the 1st. The dead presidents. When they weren't. And I lived through it all. It was wild. I'm a rock 'n' roll engineer. That ended up doing the news and political talk shows worldwide. That wasn't supposed to happen to me. I just wanted to be Bob Clearmountain. I mean George Massenburg. I mean Bruce Swedien. I mean Geoff Emerick. I mean me. I'm one of my own favorite engineers. But without the fabulous musicians we once had. It just doesn't have the same kick. The kids don't know how to do it. Without computer interjection. But we knew how to practice enough and rehearse. To get things right on Take-1. And only, one. That's called a live performance. It has performance value. Live or in the studio that way. And I have ADD. So, 30-90+ takes. Just doesn't work for me. I usually give an artist 3 strikes. If they can't get it right by three. They are not ready for 4. And you move to the next song. You come back to that one later. Because it ain't happening. I've been doing this for over 50 years. One day I'll get this right. RemyRAD
I've enjoyed hearing JB talk about how earlier tunes came to be and his young "formative" days - and man did I enjoy those songs long ago! What a great writer he is. I know all those old tunes by heart. They kept me company throughout the tropics decades ago. Sorry though, this may not be popular to say here - but for a guy who sang about his dislike for commercialization & the joke of Orlando theme parks and monetizing everything - he is now what he claimed to be so turned off by back then ... the seeming "cash is king" for him, t - shirts, beers, hotels, is there anything he won't try and make a buck off? ... so sorry, but Jimmy, when does it end? what a bummer - all our hero's turn out to be willing to sell out.. now Coral Reefer Reefer- yea - I get it and I know you donate some here & there - but please tell me you are donating it all the profits to promoting literacy or some other cause.
For the past 48 years Jimmy was my life blood and attitude adjuster and will always be there for me in the future I'm sure !!!
