Jimmy Buffett - Tin Cup Chalice - Directed by Delaney

  • How did you spend your quarantine? Jimmy Buffett asked the fans to tell him which songs, not in his usual repertoire, would they like to hear? Within minutes, over 10,000 tracks were requested. Some songs he had to re-learn as it's been so long since he played them! Directed by Jimmy's daughter, Delaney Buffett, the docuseries is an inside look of the stories and inspirations of the songs.
The series has become a fan favorite which of course evolved into recording his favorites with producer/bandmate Mac McAnally and Coral Reefers Peter Mayer and Eric Darken. Available at: smarturl.it/SYDKBH

This docuseries by one of Jimmy's daughters, Delaney, is worth its weight in gold. Gonna miss this guy so much. His music lives on, but knowing Jimmy is no longer with us is just pretty damn depressing.

Jimmy meant the world to me. Im sitting here on my lunch break as a FedEx courier on a sunny afternoon of Sept 20, 2023 here in Knoxville, TN. Ive been a fan of this poet for many many years but only had an opportunity to see him once, but i was fortunant and thankful for that. I listen to this man EVERY......SINGLE.....DAY as im at a crossroads in my life and not know what to do, but his music brings tears, memories, and motivation, yet I remain clueless in what direction God wants me to take. Neverthless, whatever road it is, Jimmy will always be with me helping to ease my worries. So glad these videos were shared. Is this his daughter speaking with him?

I've been listening to him since middle school because my mother played his cassette tapes in the car as she drove me to school. Delaney, bless you for doing this series. "Tin Cup Chalice" is one of my all-time favorite songs your dad has ever done. My baby sister passed away a couple of years ago and this song makes me think of her. When we were little, she had a "tin cup" that our mom always served her juice out of. The last time we were together we found a wonderful red wine that we loved. So I always think of that cup when I hear this song. My mom still has it, and one day, I plan to raise that little tin cup full of red wine in memory of my sweet sister. Thank you.

When I was 9 or 10 in the late 70's, I remember getting a copy of You Had To Be There Live '78 on 8 track. I wore that 8 track out. Then got it on cassette and wore that out. Jimmy was the first concert I ever went to on my own dime. I learned the guitar and learned every song on that album, and even used to play (underage) in bars doing his songs. When I left to study abroad for a year, a friend made a copy of every one of his albums (up to that point) on cassette for me so I wouldn't be too homesick. Learning about the history of these songs and the story behind them has been absolutely invaluable. Thank you for making these videos Delaney. Your father inspired me immensely to become a songwriter. Thank you Jimmy for the gift of your music and the inspiration. The world was a better place with you in it!

This has always been one of my favourites.
When Jimmy and Mac toured Australia, without the CRB, they basically sang a magic version of this, acoustic guitars and voices only- all that was needed for a great time- from the occasional YT concert videos have viewed, seems this song has given more concert time than in years' past.

What an absolute gift for Jimmy's Family and our PHamily... when this series started coming out, something in my gut just kind of knew he was chronicalizing his work, and in the process making beautiful Memories with his Daughter. What a Gift.
    🙏💚🙏
    Sail on, Jimmy... ☮️

These interviews are amazing....I am enjoying them so much listening to Jimmy's stories about Key West and the songs....He's responsible for us loving Key West so much...we go every year for the past 33 years.....never made a trip without taking Jimmy's CDs with us....later years always had Sirius in the rental specifically for Radio Margaritaville...lastly my husband and I were married there 21 years ago this month...❤❤❤❤
    Thank You Jimmy.....❤❤
