Thank you, Delaney, for these intimate interviews of your dad, whose music has brought so much joy to so many of us for decades. I see these clips as a curtain call, a loving good-bye to all who cared so deeply for him. May he be surrounded in music, love, and light forever. What a talent, an amazing human being.
When I tell people I enjoy listening to Jimmy, it's always "That Margaritaville guy?" or "Yea Cheeseburgers in Paradise!", but then I have to show them songs like this (or countless others), that are just beautiful stories in song form. Jimmy really had a talent for telling stories with a large majority of his songs, He'll definitely be missed, but we are lucky to have the gift of his amazing story telling left behind to remind us.
Yep, I sadly thought the same thing until about 8-9 years ago. Thought of it as hokey and cheesy, but I started listening to him during a rough part of my life when I needed something silly like Volcano or Fins. The older I get, the closer I look at things and try to truly understand them.
50 years ago, before he was popular, he wrote his own prophetic eulogy! He’s headed up for the last Labor Day Weekend Show. Rest in Peace Jimmy, and thanks for your music and stories.
Today is Monday 9/11/2023 Tears streaming down my face recalling the significance of this day and Jimmy Bs' "Come Monday" 💔 😭 Gone, but will never be forgotten.
1st time to see JB live was a "Labor Day Weekend Show.". at a small festival in a field-literally- in Nacogdoches TX w all the redneck rockers of the time 1974 We are all lucky to have had his music.
Looking back on these stories that Delaney was documenting, we now see there was a greater purpose… these were actually being documented in order to preserve her Fathers Legacy… his story telling only he can articulate of the times he was living in, setting a mood and hearing them just sitting and talking about his life’s adventures. Thank you for this.. generations will appreciate this so much!🙏🏻⛵️🦜🩴🏝️😎💔
Exactly! When diagnosed with cancer your first thoughts are what are you leaving behind. With your kids, and for someone of his stature, the fans. This is one of my very favorite songs. He and his spicy daughter did his very best to give us a happy ending. Thank you so much for this. He left us so much happiness, so as his last words said “have fun”. Still grieving, but am doing my best to have fun.
Jimmy Buffett is not the poet that lived before his time ... he is the poet for all times. He's left us with so much, that saying "Thank you Jimmy" sounds so spare, but I am not a poet; just an ever grateful listener.
I couldn't agree with you more. His works painted pictures, told stories, delved in human emotion, depicted history and more. His music resonated with the human soul and body and spirit . Glad I got to go to his concerts....Thanks
On one of his live albums Jimmy says to the audience "I never won an award for any song I wrote, but being here with you is reward enough." That speaks volumes... Good Lord- I, like Millions of people miss him already. Thank you Delaney, Thank you Jimmy. Heaven is a happier place with you there!
There goes another. Shame to see the song resonate so well with the man himself. Few people could be called better poets than Jimmy Buffett himself. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
Today while traveling into your past now that you have moved on. This song broke my heart for your family and fans. What a bright light you were/will always be ✨️❤
Like so many others, I have such sadness in my heart today. But, as much as the hearts of your family must be broken, please always remember the happiness your dad gave to hundreds of thousands of people. How many times did the songs and words of your father help a person get through bad and good times? Always remember the gift your father was💚
Thank you Delaney for capturing these stories and songs from your remarkably talented father. I just discovered these videos today, and they've brought me so much comfort. I hope you and your family can feel the outpouring of love from people all over the world who he touched through his storytelling and kindness...
Devastated by his passing. First concert I ever went to when I was 4, got to see him 11 times over the years. Without a doubt one of the reasons I play music now. RIP Jimmy, hope you found that shaker of salt
Sorry for your loss Delaney. Your father and his songs have been a mainstay for most of my life. I am so grateful for his music and philosophy it has brought me peace and happiness for many a year. I am thankful to have been born in an age where his life and legend will live on forever on the internet and in the hearts and minds of all of us Parrotheads. I know he's living and dreaming up in his own Margaritaville and it's "Five O'clock" wherever he is! Peace and comfort to you and your family. *HUGS*
Jimmy’s introspective songs IMO are his finest work. This ranks as one of his best, alongside He Went To Paris, Tin Cup Chalice, Something So Feminine. His literary influences are immeasurable sources for how he learned to develop his style and find his own voice. From a 40+ year parrot head, thanks for a lifetime soundtrack to life, good times, stories and reflection. I can proudly say I became a fan as a first year teenager when Come Monday became a hit and was regularly played on radio back in the day. Grateful thnx Delaney for the 1:1 deeper dives into your dad’s catalog. You’ve been blessed to have such a wonderful teacher of life for a dad.
This one, Coast of Marseilles, He Went to Paris and Tin Cup Chalice got me through some really challenging times. Thanks so much for capturing the stories!!
My heart goes out to you Delaney. I lost my dad almost 32 years ago on Thanksgiving Day. Still, I think of him each passing day. My prayers 🙏🏻 and hugs 🫂 your way.
I just can’t stop listening to Jimmy and tears flow down my face every single time I hear a song it just creates an emotion of a life time of being with Jimmy but I can’t imagine anything other without him
Thank you for all the years, you'll be sorely missed. Say hi to my brother over at the sand pit, he'll be in one of your concert t-shirts, can't miss him. Rest in peace, Sir. 😢
Jimmy Buffett was a true poet and who could color his thoughts with wonderful music. He was not unknown, as I bet every person, fan or not, would recognize his work. I’m talking anywhere in the world. His work was subtle but quite extensive. I think eventually he will be recognized as a cultural icon of the best kind. He’s not unknown. He’s an artist whose music and his message will live for many generations. It’s 5 O’clock somewhere in heaven; his rightful place.
Many condolences Delaney. He has signed items for me directing off stage several times here at the Woodlands Pavilion in Woodlands Texas and has given me so many memories. Great great entertainer. Thank you
Delaney, you did a wonderful thing...recording these songs and talks with your dad. I admit it. I cried listening to this one. But it was a happy cry and I had such a good time. Thank you so much.
My husband and I miss you, Jimmy, from our chilly piece of geography in Canada. Your songs comfort us, make us happy, and welcome the summer every year. RIP.
I had this album on a double cassette with a 1a on the back side bought at a truck stop for 3.99 these were my formidable years 16 or so and I was more into Van Halen and ac/dc but I spent a lot of time driving and the more I drove the more I enjoyed jimmy’s honestly and his reflection. Thanks for being a big part of my youth. Popularity is overrated. Sincerity is seldom found in today’s music
Delaney, Thank you so much for doing this series. We Parothead fans miss your dad but this has to be so much tougher on your fam. Way to capture these great moments, Sending love from Long Island out to North Haven. All us Cremers grew up listening to Buffett tunes and we will continue on and will play his music out at our gigs. RIP to one of the best writers of his generation
I sure wish I had fulfilled my dream of seeing him in concert, I just love his music. His music has been a part of every aspect of my life, I can't think of a time it wasn't a part of my journey. When I met my now husband back in college, Jimmy's music was one of the things that bonded us, he often sang "Come Monday" to me. I can still remember seeing the ocean for the first time in late 70s and hearing Margaritaville on the radio and thinking how the music sounded just like the feeling I got from being on the beach. I was hooked! My heart is just broken over losing such an incredible storyteller and musician that can transport all of us to beautiful far away places with just a song. So grateful we have those songs to hold us until we join him on those distant shores. Listening to Radio Margaritaville on Saturday I actually heard one that I was not familiar with and has become a new mantra "Someday I Will". Thank you Jimmy for leaving us your gift of song to enrich our life journeys. We will miss you.
Delaney and Jimmy, Thank you for doing this. . I hope you and your dad do more. It would be nice to listen to your dad tell the back story to all of his songs. At this age I see a precious father who happens to be one of the premier poets and musicians of the last 50 years. I love the live shows and parties, but this series is real, mistakes and all.. a Day in the life would also be nice. A back stage tour of the green room and an explanation of what it takes to pull of a show by your dad would also be entertaining. I love your dads interviews.
Buffett is a good folkie guitar strummer, and a brilliant story-teller and song-writer. Strange that his greatest success has been in the business world and marketing a trop-rock life-style brand. The boomers that follow his concert tours are just icing on the cake.
Ms Delaney, thank you so much for bringing the personal side of your dad out for all of us that would like nothing other than to sit casually and small talk with this great man. Like many I suppose, I have been along for the ride for 40 years, and have enjoyed the “B Side” songs more than any. It is in those songs we can hear the stories, the friends and exploration of wonderful places most will never see or know of. The world was different 40 years ago, the world was a unexplored treasure your dad brought to life. I always wanted to me him, not for an autograph, but to simply shake his hand and say thanks. This is so difficult to write and I truly wish I would never have too. Best wishes to your family, friends and dogs, your father will be missed by the entire world. RIP Jimmy Buffett
Bob Dylan said this song and "He Went to Paris" are examples of why he (Dylan) chooses Jimmy Buffett as one of America's best songwriters. Let that sink in. Thanks, Jimmy, for decades of great tunes and the optimism mixed with reality you exemplify. Your tunes have been the rudder of my life- (combined with John Prine, JJ Cale, etc. -to keep it real.)
Being able to see and hear him through these and other videos, I can convince myself for a short time that we haven't really lost him. He and his music have been a part of my daily life since about 1987. My friends know that I frequently say "Jimmy has a songline about that", and then I'll rattle one off. He had a song line for so much of my life. He was a much greater lyricist than people gave him credit for. I know how much I miss him and hurt from his death, I can only imagine what it's like for you and the rest of your family Delaney. I"m sure "he's somewhere on the ocean now, " where he should be. Godspeed Jimmy
Years ago, I saw Fingers Taylor do a solo show at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia ( just outside of Washington, DC). After his incredible show, he spent some time signing autographs. When it was my turn to say hi to him, I asked him real quick what Buffett tune he thought was his best. Without stopping to think for even a second, he replied “Death of an Unpopular Poet”. I think Fingers was right!
I just found these videos today while looking for my Father-Daughter wedding dance song. Thank you, Delaney, for taking the time to share these stories with us. RIP Jimmy. You have brought so much joy to our world! Sail on!
These clips directed by Delaney are an incredible gift for those of us who loved Jimmy's music. I smile the whole way through the chat then choke back tears as Jimmy's playing the song. Thank you so much, Delaney.
Man… this was written in ‘73. “Come Monday” finally hit in 1974, launching Jimmy’s career into the mainstream. About 10 years later on Letterman he said the success of Come Monday kept him from killing himself. “Death of an Unpopular Poet” was almost a song about Jimmy. Instead, we got 50 wonderful years of his most proficient talents.
RIP Jimmy!!! After hearing about your news, this one brought me to my tears. You've made positive impact on my life, beyond expectations from a singer, I'm sure a lot of others feel the same too. I hope you find your Particular Harbor 🥲
As always a great piece of art from this amazing man. His love of life always shined in his face and his beautiful smile. Miss him. Bless him.amd his beautiful family.
Could not have said it better! What a special treasure for Delaney 😢
This man was so much deeper than the world ever gave him credit for, and to me, the best part is that he didn't seem to care.
When I tell people I enjoy listening to Jimmy, it's always "That Margaritaville guy?" or "Yea Cheeseburgers in Paradise!", but then I have to show them songs like this (or countless others), that are just beautiful stories in song form. Amen!!
No. Poor take. You are here. He wasn't over looked. Stop w that garbage
Odd that he's leading digital music sales after his death, in the same way the songs character has more success after his death
50 years ago, before he was popular, he wrote his own prophetic eulogy! He’s headed up for the last Labor Day Weekend Show. Rest in Peace Jimmy, and thanks for your music and stories.
💔💔💔
I know, isn’t that something!! Well, I hope that Come Monday, which is today, that it’ll be alright, because it’s been a rough weekend!! 😢

Thankyou Delaney for collecting these stories! The man is a living legend! The "old stuff" is my favorite!
I love you, Bubba! I can’t stop crying today.
It’s been a lovely cruise.
RIP Jimmy. Your music was the backdrop for some of the happiest times of my life.
On one of his live albums Jimmy says to the audience "I never won an award for any song I wrote, but being here with you is reward enough."
That speaks volumes...
Good Lord- I, like Millions of people miss him already. Thank you Delaney, Thank you Jimmy. Heaven is a happier place with you there!
His hubris and humility is endearing. I love Love in a Library
the GOAT of contemporary folk music...
never has disappointed!
what a life.
words to make you happy....words to make you cry...
What an amazing man. Thank You for being part of the soundtrack of my life!!
There goes another. Shame to see the song resonate so well with the man himself. Few people could be called better poets than Jimmy Buffett himself. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
Today while traveling into your past now that you have moved on. This song broke my heart for your family and fans. What a bright light you were/will always be ✨️❤
Man, this song hits different today.
Definitely does. 💔
It sure as hell does. One of his earliest songs instantly becomes one he could have written earlier this year.
Like so many others, I have such sadness in my heart today. Totally. Such an unappreciated singer... just like this song.😢😢😢
I can't believe I will never see him sing again. I have lived my life for everything you wrote.
Gentle song by a gentle man.
We “Miss You So Badly!”
My heart breaks for you Delaney 💔. May you find peace and comfort in his music, as we do.
Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Some of Jimmy's best guitar-playing there. RIP Jimmy.
Buffett has been through it all. Down, rejected in Nashville, up then down again then up,up,up and, best of all he never sunk his boat!
RIP JImmy..... you made life a little better
RIP the last greart American poet. your songs lifted me up whe i was down. mended my broken hearts and gave me hope in a world of hoplessness

THANK YOU DELANEY 4 UR TRIBUTE OF UR DAD IN THE EARLY DAYS...BLESSINGS...HE WAS A BEAUTIFUL FATHER&HUSBAND...A TENDER MAN💞💞
This song reminds me of my wonderful Dad. He had a dog named Hooter. Every time I hear this song, I stop in my tracks and think of Him. Thanks Jimmy!

Takes on a meaning to me that didn’t exist for me until today!
Again luv this whole series. One of the great lyricists of our time.
Rest easy. You gave us joy!
It must be a good feeling to die with such a legacy and so much love. “All of it’s tragic and all of it’s magic”. Thanks Jimmy. RIP.

Miss you already, Jimmy.
Of all the songs in this series, this was the best guitar playing. Not judging Jimmy’s playing but this was one he really knows by heart.
These interviews were great during the 2020 quarantine little did we know what a treasure trove they are to JB's legacy and our future enjoyment.
Sending love to Jimmy's family and friends.
My husband and I miss you, Jimmy, from our chilly piece of geography in Canada. Your songs comfort us, make us happy, and welcome the summer every year. RIP.
One of my favs too...
And one day he was gone. RIP to the creator of something bigger than music. Forever grateful. So goodbye Jimmy.
Death of an Unpopular Poet will always and forever be one of my MOST favorite songs by him.
These videos are now more precious than ever... we will miss him.
This man had it all - joy, emotional depth of feeling. I have learned to appreciate his music more since he passed. What a gift he left for all of us
How likeable is this guy!
Songs about shrimp, peanut butter, and leaving money to dogs.
So good.
30 years ago, I heard this song.. it has been the embodiment of how I lived my life. Now that Jimmy has passed, I hope I can join him in the afterlife
I love this song! It reminds me of my best friend, Wayne, who was also a parrothead. He named his first dog Spooner. ❤️

Funny thing, those are my two favorite Jimmy songs : "Poet" and "Paris".
Yeah, Dylan brought me here too. Great song.
Every genius you named here has shaped me. Lovely to see like minds. Thankfully music never dies.
It's bittersweet to watch and hear these wonderful videos. Thanks, Jimmy, for the memories.
Miss Jimmy. He was great! So grateful his music lives on.
Sept 2 2023 this now takes on new meaning.

Just came across this three years after it was posted. It makes me miss him infinitely so much more. This is my favorite song of his.
Years ago, I saw Fingers Taylor do a solo show at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia ( just outside of Washington, DC). After his incredible show, he spent some time signing autographs. Delaney, you did your dad proud ❤
There’s nothing like Jimmy Buffett. Sounds good if you like the beach. There’s just nothing like it. Thank God to.
I love that chord progression and the story too, of course. Thank you Jimmy and Delaney. RIP Jimmy.
I could not love this more! ❤
I did not weep when my grandfather died, but I wept for Bowie, and now I weep for Jimmy.

Oh my. I'm so sad that's he's gone. Thank you for this.
As always a great piece of art from this amazing man. His love of life always shined in his face and his beautiful smile. Miss him. Bless him.amd his beautiful family.
Beautiful song
Condolences to all. You lost a father, we lost a friend. Sail on Jimmy1
He had such a special soul so happy he shared it all with us...and his dogs...
Been watching a lot of these. So glad she made them. Miss this guy a lot.
Thanks JImmy! RIP
Always loved this song. Still can't believe we won't hear him play in person. Do enjoy these intimate videos.
Love Jimmy! I liked that picture on the wall of a cougar, too.
Thank you Delaney for capturing these wonderful songs and stories and sharing them with us! 💜
